Mario Chat / Re: Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros. (book)

I ordered the regular edition a month ago, when it was reannounced.
I did not know a hardcover edition existed.
Well! Too bad...

Mario Chat / Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros. (book)
« on: June 21, 2017, 11:50:58 AM »
The release date of the Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros., according to the Mario Wiki, Amazon and many other sources was June 15th in North America.

https://www.mariowiki.com/Encyclopedia_Super_Mario_Bros.

I bought this book on Amazon, but the item is not shipped yet (June 21th).
I went to the store and they did not received it either.
Anyone knows what is happening with this Book? Somebody received it?

Who ultimately decides if this game is Crossover worthy or not?
Is it worth making a poll for this?

Hahaha! Thanks for the answer! You have a good point.

So maybe TMK should consider moving this game from the "Cameo appearances and allusions" list to the "Crossovers" one in the Wii U games page?

Minecraft: Wii U Edition juste came out... As you may know, a Super Mario DLC is included in the game in which around 40 Mario characters skin can be selected and a whole world based around the Mario Universe is included...

Now... On TMK, this game is listed in the "Cameo appearances and allusions" section.

Here's my question... Is Minecraft: Wii U Edition is a Mario game or not?
I want every Mario games in my collection, excluding games in which Mario only makes cameos...
I include SSX on Tour and NBA street V3 since Mario, Luigi and Peach are playable and are on the boxart.
I include Skylanders: Superchargers since Bowser and Donkey Kong are playable and are also on the boxart.
I do not include Simcity on SNES because Bowser just makes a cameo. Same thing with Mario characters in Zelda games...

But with Minecraft... I'm still not sure if it should be considered a cameo or a crossover... The name Super Mario is on the boxart... But it is only character's skins, not actual characters.

What do you think about that? Should this game be included in a complete Mario collection?

I just though about it... Is this Credit Theme first appeared in Doki Doki Panic? If so, maybe that's more of a reference to that game. Mhhhh...

Site Discussion / A Super Mario Bros. 2 reference in Guitar Hero Live.
« on: January 05, 2016, 09:06:25 PM »
I played Guitar Hero Live today, and I realized that a song found in GHTV contains some notes from a Mario game.
Is it worth adding this game in the Cameos section of the site?

In GHTV, the song is The Preatures - Better Than It Ever Could Be : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBWSTMnBgCs
At 3:38, you can hear the credit theme from SMB2.

To compare, just listen the notes starting at 0:40 from the Ending Theme of Super Mario Bros. 2.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHKoov7XjRk

(You can find the complete list of songs from GH Live here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_Live)

That's interesting! How many e-reader levels exist in total?

Oh! I see. Some other games like Super Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart DS also came with either the black case or the red case. So, it's basically the same... I don't need this to complete my collection!

(I think I have a problem...)

According to the official NOA Nintendo Twitter account, NSMBU+NSLU will be available for purchase oct. 16th 2015.
I'm wondering if the boxart and the disc will be exactly the same as the one that was included in the Wii U bundle.

You kinda just demonstrated that the definition of "all Mario games" differs from person to person, which renders it impossible to point you to one source.

I guess you are right.
And it is impossible to find an official list since Nintendo will never admit that Mario Is Missing, Hotel Mario and other obscure games exit.

I think it's probably not a great idea to rely on Mario Wiki for... really anything. It's kind of garbage.

Mario Wiki is to Mario as Wikipedia is to everything. Some facts, but mostly lies and garbage.

There is garbage on this website, I agree (some members of the online community, the useless newspaper...) but this is also one of the rare website with a complete list of Mario games.
Unfortunately, TMK seems to exclude Donkey Kong games from being Mario games. I think this is debatable.
For example, on this games list: http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/games/SNES , DKC2 is not considered as a Mario game, but the first one is.
I can understand the logic behind this, but I personally think that the Donkey Kong universe is the same as the Mario one.
MarioWiki also considers all DK games as part of the Mario universe.

Do any of you have another source (excluding the MarioWiki) with all Mario games?

Link is on the cover of SoulCalibur II, and that's clearly not a Zelda game. It's a SoulCalibur game. Bowser and DK are on the covers of Skylanders Racing and Skylanders Superchargers, but they're not Mario or DK games. They're Skylanders games.

Yes, I know. I guess it all depends of how you see that.
For example, on the Mario Wiki: http://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_games
Punch-Out, is not listed as a Mario game but SSX On Tour, NBA Street V3 and Tetris DS are.
On the TMK website, some games like Tennis on GameBoy are listed as Cameo appearances and allusions of Mario. On the Mario Wiki, this game is considered a Mario game...

In other words, I have problems to draw the line to distinguish what is a Mario (DK/Wario/Yoshi) game and what is not to have a completed collection.
