Seasons greetings from the heavyset guy in red with distinctive facial hair, a signature hat, and is famous for making children of all ages smile all over the world.

Which game featured the whip?  I think I'll hold off on voting because I won't even have Skyward Sword until at least Christmas, but watching my little bro played, the remote-control beetle thing looks super awesome.

Even though I'm not voting yet, I doubt anything can top the awesomeness of the hookshot.  So cool.  I'm a big fan of the spinner though too, that item felt pretty Metroidy, in a good way.  I'd love to see it come back and utilized a little better.

EDIT: Oh [dukar], looking at this list again just made tidal waves of nostalgia wash over me.  So many awesome items!  Hover boots and the Lens of Truth are a couple stand-outs too.  Using the Lens of Truth in the Shadow Temple to unveil ethereal pathways and invisible ghoulish monsters managed to creep me out on a regular basis.  [darn], what a series.

So I've had this idea knocking around in my head for a few years now and just have never gotten around to actually doing anything about it until last year:

A Christmas album of video game music! So many games have wintry levels (some of which are even Christmas themed!) and a lot of times the music is AMAZING. I think this makes for some great festive listening and is a sanity-restoring alternative to hearing Jingle Bell Rock for the 40,000th time.

Last year I put together a 50+ track album, including music from Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Sonic, Pokemon and other huge series, along with tracks from smaller games like the NES classic DuckTales and the only game to ever come close to out-Mario Karting Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing.  This year I put together a 14-track expansion (DLC Pack 1: Mario's Mistletoe) including music from classic titles like Mega Man 6 and Super Ghouls'n Ghosts, up through the most recent 3DS blockbusters Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.  You can listen to samples and download the albums here: http://shigeruslist.com/2011/12/11/a-very-nintendork-christmas-marios-mistleto/

Merry Christmas everybody!

That was Wilford "Diuhbeetus" Brimley's mustache.  While I liked the whole bit, I really lost it on Mustaches on Ice.  Would watch if it was real.

B&W are the best in the series if you're not nostalgic for the older games.

Pokemon the Movie White ends its two-day run today!  Debating whether or not to risk feeling like a freak and go see it. http://shigeruslist.com/2011/12/04/pokemans-let-your-local-theater-show-you-them/

Holy balls, the ending sequence to this game is amazing.  Definitely conjures up the phrase "grand finale."  This might be my new favorite Mario game of all time.

I voted boy because it's funnier (and stated outright in the original Super Mario Bros. 2 instruction manual), but I know that "officially" in the U.S., Birdo is a lady.  It makes his/her shouts of "mount!" in Double Dash!! all the funnier and weirder.

Hahaha, yeah that aspect of the contest is... less than ideal.

Neither goombas nor tanukis even actually exist, so they might as well be complaining about reindeer abuse in time for the holidays.

Tanuki would like a word with you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanuki

As did the senseless cruelty against man-sized bumble bees in the Galaxy games.
