I used 1.0 US version, and I'm fairly sure I gave the right offset...
Let me re-check.
EDIT: Yes, it is 0x3CC04. Are you sure your ROMs are clean dumps? Here' the string you should look for (with the FF to be changed bolded):
FA CD C8 4F C9 00 4C 4F 01 10 78 36 FF 10 A8 F0 09 01 C0 28

Shameless 120 day bump, but hey; a contribution!
There's an unused cloud sprite in the overworld. Normally you wouldn't see anything above the Pumpkin Zone, but if you go to 0x3CC04 and change FF to 09, you will have a fully functional cloud above the area. The sprite works like any cloud would, but for some reason its sprite number had been set to FF (nothing) by Nintendo.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario video requests

I ask Kimimaru this, but I also challenge you to this as well:
Complete Super Mario World as a tiny, powerless, yoshi-less Mario. With no color block switches...in less than 2 hours.
I'll think of some more requests later.
I'm.. tempted to attempt!

The object was —strangely enough— nameless and included with the level object itself. Usually levels are very plain and the sub-objects like coins, people and palmtrees are imported in afterwards. The book is also the same object as the door; you can't move the door without moving the book.

Many of you are probably aware of the infamous Book in the Bottle, and have probably seen it yourself, too.
A friend of mine and I have recently looked to the insides of the game and extracted several model files, from which one is the Bottle scene. Thought you might be interested on some imagery of the book and how it really looks like. Below is the unnecessary huge animated GIF which shows un-rendered scenes of our journey to retrieve the book.

Here's the link to a video that observes the book more closely. For those who can't view them MP4s, here's an image.

No text or title whatsoever. Oh well.
Special thanks to Peardian for converting the original model to a readable format!

Recoloring really requires little to no effort.
And it's a JPEG.

Not good.

My best guess is they had palette issues with the title (it's a common problem with several title screens/big sprites in SNES/GBA games) and decided to do a 'Wario Land' title and put a big 4 to the middle as a separate sprite.
The idea got scrapped and they went for the other title.

I found some strange tiles on the page with the other (English and Japanese) Title screens and upon arranging them it formed a 'new' title image.

Pretty s****y.
EDIT: Haha wow, would you look at that filter? I typed in  'Swanky' but it filtered the middle. Heh.

PATNA, India - An elephant nicknamed "Osama bin Laden" that killed at least 11 people and injured dozens has been shot dead, officials in eastern India said on Saturday.

The wild male elephant had been terrorizing villagers in two states in recent months, destroying their crops and homes.

Forest officials and a police team tracked down the rogue jumbo in the eastern state of Jharkhand late on Friday, where it was shot dead, senior government official Ravi Ranjan said.

"Yes, Osama has finally been killed and it took us 20 bullets to silence him," Ranjan told Reuters from Jharkhand on Saturday.

The fact that the words "mario" and "war" are in the same title turns me away.

SMWar is one of the best Mario fan-games (ooh i went there) I have played in a long time.

Download it now you crazy hippies
EDIT: It's also for Linux and Mac OS X so no problems there

The graphics of the upper left corner of a Mushroom house can be found in the ROM.
There probably was a mushroom house in one point, but got removed at the last moment or something. There's still a Mushroom House in the World Map.
