But I saw a picture of a kappa and it looked just like Bowser. Look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kappa_%28mythology%29 It even says thar Bowser is based on it.

Well the person who added that information is obviously incorrect.

Remember, Wikipedia is a website that ANYONE can edit. Even idiots.

Yup, even me :D
Anyway, Bowser is the King of Koopas, so he may be loosely based on one.

He's NOT. It's been said in three posts already, he's NOT based on a Kappa.

He may not be based on one, but the two are quite strongly connected. For example, the Kappa has a thing that looks similar to a shell (or is a shell, until now i'd never heard of such a thing) on it's back, and the name's are almost identical.

I'll give you that. Still, Miyamoto never said he was based on a kappa, so it is bad to make an assumption unless the creator says it's true.

This means nothing.

It means nothing? So are you saying that Wario having his name has nothing to do with the fact that he's based on Mario, and the same for Waluigi and Luigi?

In an interview with Famitsu, Miyamoto revealed that they were considering naming Bowser either Kuppa, Yukke (Yukka), or Bibinba (Bi Bim Bap), all Korean dishes.
