If a Super-sized Mario (besides Frog Mario) has Starman power when he jumps and grabs onto a vine, he'll keep somersaulting on the vine, even after the invincibility wears off. To try out this glitch, use a Starman from your item inventory before starting World 3-8 or 6-10. For World 3-8, you'll also need Raccoon Mario so that you can tail-attack the first brick block to make the vine grow. In World 6-10, the vine is a bit farther away, so be ready to rush to the vine block and hit it with the ice block sitting directly below it.

Tanooki Mario variation: First, get Tanooki Mario to somersault on the vine in World 6-10. Climb up high, fall off, then press and hold Down and B in mid-air. Mario won't look like a statue until he lands; instead, he'll turn gray as he somersaults to the ground. (In Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Advance 4, Mario won't turn gray on the way down.)
