Overview
In the early 80's, arcade games were all the rage. Songwriters Jerry Buckner and Gary Garcia saw a chance to cash in on this phenomenon, and quickly hammered out a single entitled "Pac-Man Fever." As the songwriting duo predicted, it became a hit shortly after its radio debut. Following the success of the single, Buckner & Garcia put together an album of eight songs, with the fourth track being "Do the Donkey Kong." This song describes a chaotic Donkey Kong gameplay experience as, well, doing "the Donkey Kong." Note: Buckner and Garcia did not write the "Do the Mario" ditty that was played at the end of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show cartoon.
