Coin

Japanese: コイン (Coin)

Coins are the most common item in the Mario series. They appear in more titles than any other character or item, including Mario himself! Their use greatly varies from game to game, although the 100 coins = extra life exchange is the most common. Despite what the Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy entry says, Coins were proven to be official currency of the Mushroom World in SMRPG, and again in Paper Mario.
