Princess Peach ToadstoolJapanese: ピーチ姫 (Princess Peach) Princess Peach Toadstool is the sovereign ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, although by traditional definition this would make her realm a "principality" and not a "kingdom." In SMRPG, Princess was revealed to be a free spirit and somewhat of a rebel, allowing her Prime Minister to control the kingdom as she went off on adventures with Mario. Princess's principal role in the Mario series has been the "damsel in distress." She has been captured by Bowser more than ten times, and every time it is Mario who has had to come to her rescue. Until recently, the Princess was also the lone female character in the Mario universe, and has earned a large following of gamers of both genders because of it. The Princess's first name, Peach, was first revealed in Yoshi's Safari, most likely due to a translation error.
