I'd call it more like, 2006-level humour.

I just realized the invite link probably expired! I replaced it with one that won't. It should work now if it didn't before.
Uh, the new one is expired too. I think this one should be permanent.

He's saying that because Peach and Pauline are both in Odyssey, the first time they've ever been in a game together. I think there's still a good chance that they'll never meet or have anything to do with each other in the game, though.

In Donkey Kong, Pauline has blonde hair but it's brown in newer games. What's the deal with that?
Newer games?

(well... I guess technically it is newer...)

It would be very fitting for a celebration of the history of Mario Party to encourage you to shake your 3DS until the hinge broke off.

It's cool that this exists (an idea continually suggested since the dawn of Fungi Forum history) but why is it on 3DS rather than Switch? The Switch is both easier to play multiplayer with and has controllers that can handle the original controls of MP8-10. If they were also using games from DS, Island Tour, and Star Rush it would be more understandable. But since it's strictly the console Parties, why use a system that necessitates changing a third of the games' controls? It's a travesty that the so-called "Top 100" will not be able to recreate the true joy of the greatest Mario Party game of all time, Shake It Up (a.k.a. Jack It 'Til You Pop).

I don't get it.

At least the 3DS has a mic, which can come into play for MP6-7. They'd better not remove the voice controls for stuff like Balloon Busters.

No, that part of the manual calls him 大魔王クッパ Great Demon King Koopa

Noko Noko

It means unconcernedly or nonchalantly.

There's a few instances where you can see this Japanese name slipping through the localization cracks. Super Mario RPG has the NokNok Shell weapon. The strangely unlocalized enemy names of Super Mario Land include Nokobon (as in bomb-Koopa) and then Super Mario Land 2 got the Noko Bombette, which even throws in the Japanese name for Buzzy Beetle, Metto (from helmet, "herumetto")!

After five more minutes of staring and neither of these tips helping one bit, I became 90% sure I was being trolled.

But then, on the cusp of giving up forever... I REALIZED WHAT IT WAS

That was cool because I've seen many of the classic images where the negative space is something else but this is the first I've seen where both must be combined to understand a whole picture

Mario Chat / Re: Why did Birdo serve Wart?

That's definitely why Birdo was there but I wouldn't say any evilness was involved. Shy Away maintained a collection of dangerous creatures like Smilax and Birdo to keep intruders away. But is a junkyard dog "evil"?
