This is an odd question since I don't even have a Wii... Did you set up your Wii on its side, or on the little stand thing? All my friends have it on the stand, but when I get one I think I'll set it on its side.
-
I put it on it's stand. I have no idea why, I guess I just prefer it that way. It looks cool like that anyways, but putting it on it's side would look pretty awesome as well.
-
I put my Wii on it's stand. I don't have any reason why, just because. Also, I'd most likely lose the stand if I didn't.
-
Mine's in the stand, probably because that's the only way that I have room for it, and because that's the way it looked in all then press conferences and stuff when I was drooling over it.
-
On the stand. It looks like it takes up less space, there might not be enough room for my SNES or N64 if it were on its side, and it just plain looks cooler this way.
-
On the stand, but question:
By "side" do you mean so that the disc slot is horizontal? Because I think on the stand, it's still technically on its "side". The "bottom" is the "side" with the four little nubs for setting it down on something. Putting the Wii vertical without the stand, as your first option may mean, would be very dangerous for tipping over reasons.
-
I have it flat on top of my TV. However, when I brought it to my parents' house, I did indeed put it vertical, but in the bottom corner of the shelf where the TV was; tipping over wasn't a possibility.
-
I have it on the stand. That way I'm able to keep it outside the TV stand.
-
I have it on the stand, and I also used that little plastic disc that attaches to the stand.
-
Usually, mine is on its side for storage reasons. But when we have company, it shines in full glory within its stand.
-
Aw, isn't that cute.
-
I have it on the stand at home, but there's no room for it in the wii bag, so I put it horizontally whenever I take it anywhere
That disc is for the stand? I never knew that, I thought it was some crazy wall mount for the sensor bar...
I should get that sometime...
-
The disc helps keep it from tipping over--it sounds like a ridiculous precaution, but not when you're using GC controllers with cords. Use that disc.
-
I prefer to call it the "stand stand."
-
I've set up my Wii with its stand and the "stand's stand." I mean, it doesn't look as cool without the console stand, and it works better on my book shelf (now a video games-only shelf, where my Wii, NES, and assorted games and accessories are).

On the subject of where everything is...

Though I guess those 1000 words don't remind: All the games are on the shelf below the TV. The Vans box has the excess NES games. And the ? Block is empty.

Vertical on its stand right next to my TV. Saves space. But when it travels, I set it horizontally, and leave the stand at home.

BirdPerson, I wish I had that much space... I ought to get a fancy pic of my horrid setup. But I have way more games that you. And no Wii.
Anyway Lizard Dude, when I said "on its side" I did mean horizontally.
-
I call stand.

Well, here's a picture of my setup, with special guest: my very small 13" TV!

I am really at a loss here, as the TV is much too small, I have to aim higher than my head, and I have no room. What I would like to do is move it into the living room, but I know as well as my dad knows that we will have conflict over who is watching TV (him) and who is playing Wii (me). I should try to move everything a shelf lower (thus eliminating a shelf) so my TV is eye level with me. I think I might try that.
-
I don't like how close that dart board is to the Wii.
-
Oh you poor thing, having to use your own TV instead of a bigger one. I don't even have my own TV, although I kind of dominate the one in the living room. XD Anyway, why don't you move the TV to one of the lower shelves? It looks like it'd fit fine.
BP has been playing SMAS and Banjo-Tooie! And he has a white ? Block!
-
I have to aim higher than my head
Something you could do is move the sensor bar onto a lower shelf. You could get used to having it there while staring at your TV.
-
I've pretty much dominated our whole upstairs. Unfortunately, none of our TVs are in the best shape.
-
Sapph, that's like 20 words more than necessary!
That white ? block was my Halloween candy box to match my Mario costume. It's, uh... a Super Mario Land-style one. After a few weeks I added a lid and added a lot more tape to make it less of a trashable basket and more of a kick-awesome box. Hey, you know... it never, until now, occurred to me to try putting all the NES games in the old Vans box in the ? block. And they fit! Haha! That's good use there. I ought to keep the Vans box in the event I find a better use for the ? block.
