Or better yet, why can't Yoko Ono be happy with the money she has now and stop ruining our lives?
Yes, that's exactly the situation.  Moron.

General Chat / Re: Concerts
« on: March 16, 2009, 05:24:09 PM »
I've never been to a concert before in my life, and I never plan to. I like hearing the singers sing, not the people listening to the song. ;P
Horribly misinformed.  I've never had a problem with hearing the music, even in the worst of venues.  On the other hand, I'll have a terrible problem communicating with someone standing right next to me, but text messages handle that.

Been to just a few.  Not too much exciting, favorite was the Freshly Dipped Tour last year featuring Hieroglyphics*, Musab, Knobody, Tanya Morgan, and Blue Scholars.

Site Discussion / Re: Censoring

Keep in mind also that beyond what the forum offers, many browsers (Firefox w/ Greasemonkey and Opera for two) allow the loading of JavaScript files which allow the user to remove/replace any string (regular expressions, even) the user does not wish to see in most instances.  Worst case scenario?  You filter out too much and/or you have to see what words you're filtering to begin with.  If you have a problem with images, block all images or block any server that hosts them.

If any of the above sounds like a bad idea, then why have you only started now to think?

It's not a question about getting around the filter, or words that aren't on the filter, or anything, but about words that are already filtered out getting censored for anyone who already opted out of the filter.

Not at the Dinner Table / Re: Not A Thread About MEGAߥTE
« on: February 24, 2009, 04:14:12 AM »
29 bytes would be half a kibibyte.  230 (= 1,0243 for how the units are divided) bytes is a gibibyte, and 109 bytes is a gigabyte.  I use these when I feel I need to be unambiguous, but most of the time I'll use "gigabyte" for either.  I wouldn't define it as 1,024,000,000 in any case, as that would be 1,024 megabytes as opposed to mebibytes, mixing SI and binary prefixes;106×210 bytes.

EDIT: parenthetical statement placed next to wrong number.  Oops for math.

There are other reasons.  I just can't bring them up under the current rule set.

No questioning or complaining about moderators' actions.
I don't really see anything this rule does except give moderators free reign to be abusive and then cite this rule as a shield, which seems more like pure loophole as opposed to anything useful.  If a moderator isn't doing anything wrong, they really don't have anything to worry about, and if they are doing something that seems wrong, then it would be nice to be able to call them on it!

No flame wars.
[…]
No harassing or threatening moderators.
This should take care of all actual abuse toward moderators.  If someone is uncivil in their questions and complaints, then they're still in trouble, so what good does this other rule do?

make it feel more like a Lego set to be aimlessly toyed with, picked apart, and modified
Now that's fun.

I almost posted about how I felt about SMAS before making the bump comment instead, but the graphical changes are nothing exciting, and the music is terrible.  I get the feeling they made every possible attempt to make it sound as different from an NES as possible, and it really kills the mood a lot of the time for me.

False dilemma.  If you were to take away piracy as an option, many people would simply not play the game at all, and awareness would be dropped.  I first played Super Metroid on an emulator.  The result?  I buy Metroid games.  The EarthBound fan community most likely consists primarily of people using emulators.  There is an overwhelming support to have the game released for Virtual Console.  See a pattern?

Also, I'm fairly sure everyone here is considering it from the company's point of view, but I'm also going to hazard a guess that you're just assuming that whoever you were addressing right then complains about Nintendo making games worse.

Wow, this bump beats mine, and that's when there is a currently active thread about necroposting.

There is some homebrew available that's supposed to take care of those saves, but as I do not own any of those games, I cannot say for sure.
