Mario Chat / Super Mario Bros. Online (Alpha Release)
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:49:06 AM »

Hey everyone! For the past 5 months, hydrakiller4000 and I have been working on a Mario Online RPG using the Eclipse Evolution engine! After these 5 months, we are happy to say that the game is ready for an alpha release! Find out more about the game and download it here: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,54053.0.html

Visit our website at: http://supermariobrosonline.co.cc

Direct download

Unfortunately, it only works on computers running Windows. I'm sorry, but this is the case only because the Eclipse Evolution engine is coded in Visual Basic 6, which only supports Windows. The server is usually up from 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM Eastern on weekdays and 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM Eastern on weekends. I'll try my best to extend the amount of time the server is up as much as possible.

Here's a quick screenshot:

I hope you guys enjoy it!

General Chat / Happy Halloween!
« on: October 31, 2009, 03:18:24 PM »
Happy Halloween everyone! About 20 minutes ago, one of my friends came to my house dressed up as Mario! He was with some of his other friends and drove a car that was blasting Mario music and had Starmen and Mushroom stickers on it!

Hello everyone. This video will probably show you how useful Yoshi can be in Super Mario Sunshine. In this video, I get to that lonely island across from Delfino Plaza's beach without using boats or glitches, only by using Yoshi's flutter jump. I hope you all enjoy it!

This is a video of me completing the minigame, "Mecha Bowser Mayhem" in Mario Power Tennis with Yoshi on the Titanium Frame difficulty (the hardest difficulty). Doing well on this minigame mainly relies on luck, as Mecha Bowser's movements are very random, along with the chance of a power-up appearing.

Using a short, weak character, such as Yoshi, makes this minigame much harder. A bigger, more powerful character, such as Petey Piranha, can complete this minigame in a shorter time. Anyway, here's the video:

Time: 47:28 (47 seconds, 28 hundredths of a second) (In-game)

Enjoy!

Mario Chat / Super Mario 64 - Improved Tall Tall Mountain Speedrun
« on: July 10, 2009, 03:52:02 PM »
After watching over the Tall Tall Mountain speedrun I had up on YouTube, I couldn't help but think that I let jdaster64 down in some way with his request. As a result, I have created a better video. Unfortunately, my camera failed on some stars, so I had to record them separately and put them in with the other stars. You have my sincerest apologies for that. I tried my best putting them into the video, though. Despite all that, I hope you all enjoy the video, and be sure to thank jdaster64 for his request!

You might have to wait a while before you can put the video in high quality because I just uploaded it.

Old video's Play Time: 6:04 (6 Minutes, 4 Seconds)
New Play Time: 5:30 (5 Minutes, 30 Seconds)

Video Game Chat / Banjo Kazooie - Ticker's Tower Jiggy Speedrun
« on: June 27, 2009, 10:39:23 AM »
Remember the special video I said I would make on my "Super Mario 64 - Tall Tall Mountain Speedrun" thread? Well, this is it!

This is a speedrun of the Jiggy on top of Ticker's Tower in Banjo Kazooie. In this speedrun, I must start from the beginning of Mumbo's Mountain, obtain the Beak Buster move, and get the Jiggy on top of Ticker's Tower while collecting any Notes or Mumbo Tokens I come across. I'm very sorry for the bad frame rate; I'm not sure what happened while I was recording. This time, I requested a good YouTube friend to upload the video for me, so don't panic if you don't see it on my profile. Enjoy!

Game Play Time: 0:57 (57 Seconds)

Also be sure to check out my profile for more cool videos! If you have a YouTube account, I'd appreciate it if you gave my videos a 5 star rating. Some people, for whatever reason, felt the need to give some of my videos a very bad rating, bringing down the overall rating of the videos.

Mario Chat / Super Mario 64 - Tall Tall Mountain Speedrun
« on: May 31, 2009, 11:57:03 AM »
Hey everyone! I know I haven't made a video in a while, but I found some free time today and decided to go through with one. You can thank jdaster64 for this one, for he was the one who requested it on my Mario YouTube video requests thread. This video is a speedrun of all the stars in Course 12, Tall Tall Mountain, in Super Mario 64. There are a few noticeable flaws, but it is a good watch regardless. I hope you all enjoy it! Watch it in high quality so you can enjoy it more!

Play Time: 6:04 (6 minutes, 4 seconds)

In addition, be sure to check the Video Game Chat board every now and then. I'm planning on making a special video :) (As you might have guessed, it will be non-Mario related).

Fan Creations / Super Mario Sunshine Tile
« on: February 22, 2009, 08:12:26 PM »
I'm not sure if most of you know, but I'm a Game Master (GM) on Super Mario Online, the unofficial Mario MMORPG. I was planning on recreating all of Delfino Plaza, using custom tiles that I created and a map found in Super Mario Sunshine. However, due to the unfortunate rollback of Super Mario Online, many GMs and players have lost motivation to create/play the game because most of the data was lost. At this point I believe Super Mario Online is on the verge of dieing out. I have stopped working on it because I fear that all of the work I will put into it will be wasted. Until Super Mario Online's rollback is reversed, or if the creator does a major update that will help the game, I probably won't work on it again. The only tile I have made for Delfino Plaza can be found at the bottom of my post. It is one of the tiles you see on the floor around the Pianta Statue. Since I have no use for it, I hope that it can be useful for someone else. Click on it to make it a little larger. I'm sorry for all the black space around it; that is there because there was supposed to be a whole tilesheet for Delfino Plaza, but I never created the rest of the tiles. So what do you guys think? Does it stay true to the original tiles?

Mario Chat / Super Mario 64 - Snowman's Land Speedrun
« on: February 18, 2009, 08:39:46 PM »
Hello everyone! Here's another speedrun I made. This time, it's a speedrun for the entire course, Snowman's Land in Super Mario 64. I didn't really feel like starting a new file, so you'll see me activate the cannon and get transparent blue (already obtained) Stars. As you will see, there are some flaws. I might improve the video and re-record without those flaws sometime in the future. Anyway, enjoy!

Play Time: Roughly 6:31(6 minutes, 31 seconds)

Mario Chat / New Super Mario Bros. Max Score
« on: February 02, 2009, 12:21:30 PM »

I suppose this is an okay picture. It might be a little too big.

As shown in the picture above, the max score in New Super Mario Bros. is 99,999,999(Ninety-nine million, nine-hundred-ninety thousand, nine-hundred-ninety-nine) points. It really didn't take too long to get this many points, especially since I only worked on it about 2-3 days a week for around 1-3 hours on those days.

----------Strategy----------

NOTE: It's highly recommended that you start out the level as Super Mario (The Mario form after you get a Mushroom).

1) Go into World 1-1.

2) As you start out, run to the right and jump to hit the first ? block for a coin.

3) Hit the next block to make a Fire Flower come out, and keep running to the right. You will also bounce on a goomba and hit the next ? block for another coin.

4) Get the Fire Flower for 1,000 points.

5) Continue running to the right, and jump to get the coins.

6) Hit the brick block for a coin. When you land, jump in between the 2nd and 3rd brick blocks to hit them and get a coin from the left one.

7) Jump on the goomba for 200 points, and hold A to stay in the air. Make sure you keep moving to the right while you're in the air.

8) You will jump on the next goomba for 400 points. Keep heading right and collect the 4 coins in the air.

9) Throw a fireball (2 if you want) and hit the ? block for a Mega Mushroom. Keep running to the right. The fireball will hit the goomba for 200 points, and a coin will come out of the goomba.

10) Stop to collect the coin, and hit the ? block above it for another coin. Start running to the left.

11) Let the Mega Mushroom land on you after it jumps out of the ? block. Collect it when it travels its max distance to the right after it jumps out of the ? block so that it doesn't bounce to the left at all.

12) As Mega Mario, head to the right and collect the 4 coins.

13) Destroy the pipe by touching it, and jump to collect 3 more coins and a Star Coin.

14) Keep heading to the right to hit a koopa. There will be a goomba up ahead.

15) Right after you hit the goomba, do a small jump to hit all the blocks above you, along with a koopa and 3 other blocks below you.

16) Keep heading to the right to destroy a pipe and 3 other blocks.

17) As you keep traveling to the right, you will hit a goomba, collect 4 coins, and destroy another ? block. Jump after you hit the ? block.

18) You will hit a goomba, a ? block, and another goomba. You will now fall onto some lower ground. At this point, you should start blinking because the effects of the Mega Mushroom are wearing off.

19) Keep heading to the right. You should hit a goomba, a pipe, 4 brick blocks, a koopa, and another goomba.

20) Right after you hit the second goomba, do a small jump across the gap to get the 3 coins. You can also walk across the gap if want. At this point, hold the R button to make the screen go further to the right.

21) Keep heading to the right, and you'll hit a koopa, 3 brick blocks, and many other blocks.

22) After you hit the last block, jump and try to go a little to the left. The Mega Mushroom should end by now, and you should have 5 1UP Mushrooms at the top of the screen.

23) After the Mega Mushroom ends, you should hit an invisible coin block for 100 points (This step can be challenging, so if you can't seem to do it, then just skip it.)

24) Head right to the flagpole. The 5 1UP Mushrooms should go behind the flagpole to the right if you held the R button.

25) Jump the highest you can when you're standing still, and touch the flagpole when the timer reaches 355. You should get around 15,000 points from the 1UP Mushrooms, 17,750 points from the time, and 20,000 points from the 5 fireworks.

At the end of each run, you should end up with roughly 64,320 points. Each run takes around 34 seconds to complete.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Here's the video:

Sorry for the bad quality. It should still be good enough for you to see what's going on, though.

Good luck to anyone who tries it!

Mario Chat / Mario Party 2 - Destruction Duet completed in 14 seconds
« on: January 30, 2009, 03:31:14 PM »
Hello everyone! My most recent video is about completing the minigame "Destruction Duet" in approximately 14 seconds in Mario Party 2. I am Yoshi, and hydrakiller4000 is Donkey Kong. Our primary method for destroying the Bowser statue in this time is performing many tiny "jump-kicks." To do one of these jump-kicks, you need to press the A button to jump, and then press the B button about 1/8 of a second after you press A so that you do as small of a jump as possible and still manage to kick the statue. This time can be improved without a doubt, especially since hydrakiller4000 accidentally pressed B to punch and miss the statue instead of doing another jump-kick. Enjoy!

Mario Chat / Super Mario Galaxy - Canceling Planet Landings and etc.
« on: January 24, 2009, 07:56:54 PM »
Hey everyone! Sorry that I haven't made any videos for a while; I didn't have my camcorder, but thankfully I got it back. Anyway, this is a video that demonstrates some time saving techniques in Super Mario Galaxy. Some things you'll find in this video are canceling when you land on planets, and canceling ground pounds. Canceling planet landings aren't possible on all planets, though. Without futher ado, here's the video:
