I used to have an NES game about 10 years ago that I want to buy again but I don't know what it's called. It was probably Japanese, it has a main character going through I think a green land and it was a top view, and he did miscellanous things like kill people or get rewards or what have you...then there was places where he would enter a hut and have to battle a huge monster there. That's the best way I can describe it sorry. Does anyone know the game I'm talking about?
-
Wow, that is pretty vague... Startropics? Crystalis? This is all off the top of my head.
-
It's the Legend of Zelda, he's referring to that.
Kinda vague description, yes, but it was kinda simple to figure out, IMO.
-
I don't thinks it's Zelda. For one there were no swords or hearts (?) plus the character isn't an elf or whatever. I looked at some pictures and no it's not Zelda...are there any games similar in this layout? Thanks..

Nazo no Murasame-jō, maybe?

Just a wild guess.

I didn't suggest Zelda because... I mean, hey, someone would remember if it was Zelda. Besides, The Legend of Zelda is decidedly hutless.
-
Metal Gear perhaps?

I can't remember if the game had any huts.

Crystalis doesn't have any huts that I know of. What about Hydlide?
-
It's something extremely close to Nazo no Murasame-jō and Hydlide in the setting but neither one. Is there some other games that look a lot like these two? Thanks for your help by the way. I'm going to check these two out anyway b/c they look pretty good :-)

No huts, no, but he could've been referring to the dungeons that held the bosses.
-
It has to be Star Tropics. There were huts right in the first area of the game.

After browing a few thousand games on ebay (I'm pretty sure I have an essay to write) I found one called Destiny of an Emperor which looked really close, and then found the one I was searching for which is..
ta, da da da!
Dragon Power.
:-)
Recommended to all..
and thanks for everyone's help.

Ah, yeah, the Dragon Ball game.
-
I actually played that game all the way through once, and I still couldn't figure it out from your description.
-
When I first heard the description I thought of the horrible game Dino Riki. Good thing it wasn't that.

I think he is thinking about the legend of zelda too, but he didn't say anything about swords
