There's a fellow out there who wrote a program called The Music Animation Machine (http://www.musanim.com/). This piece of software plays MIDI files with animated graphics (akin to visualizers in other programs). What make this worthy of a TMK post is that some lovely folks in Japan used this program to make an graphical Mario MIDI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wkI7hg65F0).
Interesting, don't you think?
More information, and a few other game MIDI videos, are available on his MAM MIDI Player on Nico Nico Douga (http://www.musanim.com/niconicodouga/) page (Nico Nico Douga being a Japanese video and commentary site).
Go take a look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wkI7hg65F0

Holy awesome. I was about to go to sleep but I had to watch all six of the guy's vids.
This one has the best graphical effects -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASXnFRYf6LI
After watching six of those scrolly things in a row, everything I looked at appeared all wavy. :P

Now, that is extremely clever! Extremely!
I also had somewhat distorted vision after watching these...
