Mario Kart - Very cool. The track design has seriously reached it's highest point with the Wii version.
Mario Strikers - Very cool as well.
Mario Golf - Eh, not really interesting to me at all, especially since I think anything golf is boring in general. And mario golf is a lot more realistic than most of the other mario sports games. Mario Golf for the N64 is about as realistic as Mario sports can get.
Mario Tennis - Again, very cool.
Mario Baseball - Not as cool, but the new version looks to be more fun

Quoted For Truth--you agree with what you quoted

Actually, it can mean two things. Your definition is one of them, but there's another one that means the exact opposite - not to mention being rude (hint: Quit flipping talking, only more obscene). I've seen that phrase cause problems at other boards because people are not sure whether you are agreeing with them or insulting them. :P

Anyone who is actually "loyal" to a company like Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft is a sucker. They're publishers. That's like being loyal to Universal Studios over Paramount. Furthermore, being "loyal" to a system is also dumb. Did anyone here take sides during the Beta/VHS or HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars? If so, was it because you liked the company that made your format of choice?

Like I said, I'm not loyal to Nintendo in the sense that I am a diehard worshiper of everything they make. I'm more loyal in the sense that I'm not suddenly crying that the sky is falling because of E3 - which was crappy for every company, not just Nintendo. Also, I'm loyal to Nintendo in the sense that I generally like what they make far better than I've ever liked Sony or Microsoft's video game products. It's not really an extreme kind of loyalty, like some people seem to have. ;)

If your looking for some exaggerated female fighters, play the Dead or Alive fighting games.

I don't really think even they - or anyone else for that matter - can top the latest version of Ivy in SC IV. And I don't think you can reasonably say that they do this kind of thing for no reason. No, they do it because male gamers love it - although you're right that DOA does it as well.

And as for the guest star characters, if they wanted to actually put Darth Vader and Yoda into the game for more reasons than "just to boost the game with popular culture characters," then they wouldn't have made both SO overpowered. Online play aparrently is ruined because noobs always play as Yoda and almost always win.

I hate Superman - he's possibly one of the most shallow superheroes ever created. "Look! He's all powerful, except for one little weakness that he always falls for every time his arch-enemy uses it! And look! He's dying, but now he's lifting the island into outer space, but now he's dying again, and he's dead, but wait he's not really dead he's just fine! SUPERMAN LIVES!"

Oh, and I also hate Soul Calibur. The only reason that the series has lasted so long is that it preys on two common male fetishes: Anime/pop culture guest star characters, and ridiculously exaggerated female fighters.

If staying loyal to Nintendo means "worshiping everything that comes out of their company without question like PS3 and X-Box fanboys" than these ten reasons won't even begin to sway me. If it means "focusing on the bright side and not losing hope," then they have a good point.

I'm hoping that by the middle of next year, we'll have seen a lot of great new releases. We already know about Pikmin 3 for sure, and there's rumors of a new Kid Icarus game and Mario Galaxy sequel - plus I'm sure there's more great stuff headed our way in the future. Also, this article was dead-on about the 3rd party titles. People that say that the Wii has nothing good outside of official Nintendo titles need to pay more attention. :P

Hey, I still watch superhero cartoons and Ninja Turtles, and I'm not ashamed. If you like it, there's no problem with enjoying it. Unless you still enjoy Barney or something. :P

What? That hentai exists?

Sigh, I knew this topic would go in that dirrection as soon as I read the title. >_>

Heh, those look so appealing that I might actually print some of those out and color them!

...Or not. But they're still really cool, regardless. :)

I'm fine with mario sports games, even though I don't really play them at much (the main spinoffs I play are mario kart and mario party). I'm also even more accepting of them now that Nintendo has been making more standard mario games for the two current systems (FOUR platformers on the DS, and one AMAZING platformer on the Wii with a rumored sequel comning out). It's a lot better than it was back in the gamecube era. >_>

For the most part, good games.

Compared to real sports games, VERY GOOD GAMES.

Quoted for truth. Real sports games are EXCEEDINGLY boring, and unlike the mario sports games, they change very little each time a new version comes out.

Don't really know, considering that I constantly try to NOT purchase games that get poor reviews. Overall though, I think it would be Donkey Kong 64. Granted, it isn't a REALLY BAD game, but the camera system is so horible that it make it a lot less fun that it could have been. I sincerely hope that the new version rumored to be in development for the Wii will be a lot better. >_>

Speaking of N64 racing games and perhaps I should've mentioned an N64 game in the first place because of my name, let me say this. My father, being a huge fan of Legos, got Lego Racers for the N64. We played it twice...then never touched it again.

While the N64 version of that game was pretty bad, the PC version actually wasn't half bad for a kids game (I played it a lot when I was 10). The main problem was that the car building feature - which was the main draw - was ruined on the N64. Regardless, the PC version is a lot better than a lot of the liscensed crud that we've gotten over the last decade, IMO.

Well it's easy to say that if you're all leveled up, but try fighting Culex at level 16 like I did.  Without the trueform pin.  In Japanese.

True, but most people don't even do that on any game unless they want to challenge themselves. That said, making a game more challenging is always a good idea if the game is really easy when played normally. :)

If you want the item, you'll play the game. RPGs generally have an element of repetition followed by a reward. Except Paper Mario, that is.
Also I have to say I found Paper Mario not one bit epic. The bosses are mostly small and use a total of two attacks on you.
I have to say though, the best part of Paper Mario is the ice castle, whatever it's called. That area is actually somewhat large and interesting.

Yes, but it depends on what the repitition is. If that means fighting a ton of enemies, that's one thing - but winning 100 rounds of a boring minigame takes it to a whole new level.

Also, I'd rather have a boss that uses a few attacks that make since than bosses that have all these crazy attacks that don't fit with their character. I don't get what the designers of SMRPG were thinking when they gave the Czar Dragon WATER BLAST, of all things. A fire creature using a water attack has to be one of the most nonsensical things I've ever seen in a popular RPG.

Super Mario All Stars + World. You can't go wrong with 5 classic mario sidescrollers in one cartrige that costs way less then all of the games originally did. :D

I'm really sick of all these music games with fake instruments. They've become the new Madden NFL in the video gaming world. >_<

Well Zarkan, that's not called "being defensive". I was simply arguing my case, and pointing out the flaws in your argument

I wouldn't call them flaws, just different opinions. The point I was making was that I've noticed how defensive you get when people argue that SMRPG isn't the best mario RPG. This isn't a new thing either - I've seen that in old mailbags (which I do read from time to time), you and David Dayton are on opposite sides of the issue, while Sapphira takes the middle ground. :P

Remember the battles between Domino and Cloaker, Culex, and Jinx?

Jinx and especially Culex's supposed power are also overated. I beat both of them the first time I fought them, the latter using the Star Egg. In fact, there's really no way to lose once you put the Lazy Shell armor on Bowser, as basically every attack except Water Blast gives him one point of damage. Basically, even if your other teammates die, Bowser is invincible.

Heck, remember Grate Guy’s Casino?  That’s probably one of the biggest secrets in a Mario game!  I couldn’t find it until months after I completed the game.

Ah yes, Grate Guy's Casino. How I hate that place. Besides the fact that it's almost impossible to find without a walkthrough or guide, it also has to be one of the monotonous places ever. The only reason I went there is so I could get the Star Egg, and playing 250 rounds of "Look the other way"  to get a special item has to be the stupidest secret ever in a mario game. Not stupid because of the reward, but stupid because it's simply an awful and repetitive minigame. :X

And those games weren't incredibly short and easy-to-make compared to today's? And two of those weren't taken from previously-made games with alterations (SMB2J being SMB with new levels and graphics and SMB2 being DDP with new graphics)?

Um, no. Do you realize how difficult making games was back then? Making the first three Super Mario Brothers games was probably HARDER than making NSMB today. Heck, there's people today that can make great clones of SMB by themselves with only programs like Gamemaker- which was beyond impossible back then. >_>
