I'm just wondering how many people have chosen Obama, before his first day in office.  In DC, it's nuts.  Obama has garnered comparisons to some of the greatest presidents of all time and he hasn't even done hardly anything yet.  I'm not bashing, I'm just stating my opinion that it is kind of weird to get this worked up this early.

Well, it's because:

1) He's black. Yeah. A lot of people don't want to look racist, or at least want to look "cooler" than McCain types, so they're being extra super inordinately happy about Obama's inauguration (true story: for a while, my friends assumed I supported McCain since I didn't wear an Obama t-shirt).

2) After Bush, anyone is better, except maybe a composite-clone of Richard Nixon's and Ulysses S. Grant's DNA or a homeschooled eleven-year-old.

3) He's a nice guy with a laid-back demeanor who's a change of pace from all the old guys before him; basically he's the least presidenty president we've had so far, and that's definitely a good thing.

Obama (because he's not McCain or Bush Jr.) and Clinton (because of the the whole Monica Lewinsky scandal thing - although apart from the whole infidelity issue, I don't understand what exactly was scandalous).

It's because he lied about it under oath.

James Monroe isn't McCain either, but you didn't vote for him.

In fact, most presidents aren't McCain, now that you mention it.

I like it how you assume that I'm American, when in fact I'm not (I'm British, FYI)

...Wait, what? I was talking about this poll... and if I wasn't, then I'd mostly be assuming that you're not two hundred years old.
