Did you ever notice that there are a lot of interesting secrets on this game? Here's just a few that I noticed...

-You can get the Star Egg from Grate Guy after playing his game a ton of times, but I don't think it's worth it.. It does 100 damage to all enemies onscreen, but the battle animation is slow, and it's very tedious to get it. Better off sold.

-If you're done with the Casino, you can sell off the Bright Card to someone in the Marrymore Hotel.. He'll pay up to 10 Frog Coins for it, but then ask for 15 if you want it back. You should keep it until you get the Egg, and all the Frog Coins you want from the Casino.

-It's possible to grant 2 wishes in the game before you knock off Smithy.. if you do, the appropriate stars in Star Hill change.

-There are numerous hidden chests, it's almost impossible to find them all without help! I've got one last one to find, but I don't know where to look, the Signal Ring's gone numb.. Help?

About the hidden chests- my official Nintendo Power player's guide says that there are 39 hidden treasure chests, but 39 is a wierd number.  Plus, even after getting all 39, the talking chest (name?) in Monstro Town still says you have 1 more to find.

AAARGH!
Someone set up us the bomb!

The whole thing's a mystery to me.. I was using a guide to double-check that I found them all, but it turned out that I found one more than was listed! (Making 40..) Unfortunetly, the Box Top still says I have one more, but I have been in every single area of the game with the Signal Ring!

Oh wait... isn't 'There are still 1 more to find' bad grammer?

Yes, I do have a Player's Guide to help me find the chests.  By the way, if you're talking to the purple Pandorite in Monstro Town to tell you how many hidden things you have left to find, YOU MUST TALK TO HIM FIRST BEFORE YOU FIND THEM ALL.  If you find all of the hidden treasures and talk to him for the first time, he will say you will have one more to find.  There is no way to change this.

Yes, I know about all of that.  I found the Star Egg pretty much by myself, but I used the guide to find all the hidden chests (and yes, you CAN get all of them).  I think the wishes you can change are Frogfucius's (get him the Cricket Jam) and Mallow's parents (get him reunited with the 'rents).

I mentioned this before, but no one mentioned if it worked for them.  Use your timed attacks and defenses to the max.  Nintendo did not mention the timed special for Peach's or Mallow's healing techniques.  Mallow's HP Rain(rarely used) is timed right before the cloud fully disappears.  For Peach, right before the healing aura diminishes, or right before the reviving star comes in contact with your downed ally.  You can defend against ANY physical attack, with the exception of explosives(bullet bills, bombs), or magic attacks.  To defend against magic and those certain physical attacks, you would already have to be in the defense position. Even so, you still take half of the damage. To differentiate between magic and physical, look for the stars that appear on you attacked character.  Stars=physical, no stars=magic.  That ends my vast knowledge of the game for now.  I'm trying to get 100 super jumps(at 46 now...).  Must equip Peach with the Super Jacket!  I would like to compare my characters' level 30 stats with other people, so I'll be back with those.  In the meantime, give me yours :-)

Ugh I feel so helpful today! The saftey ring protects most magic attacks (excludes Dark Star Willywisp) I just hope Super Jacket is Armor not an Accessory!!

Anyone actually get the Super Jacket? You need to do 100 super jumps on an enemy to get it. It's the only item I can't get.
