Title: I need help with SMRPG again6

Im now in part 6 of my mario RPG saga.Im now just entering the forest for the first time.I want to be ready for the boss,so I have mario at level 7 with 60 HP and mallow at level 6 with 50 HP.13 mushrooms,3 syrups.Do I need to change any of this?And the forest is a maze,so if its not too much trouble,can someone guide me thru the forest?
