Title: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on May 07, 2006, 07:40:57 AM
This creeps me out. I was just snooping around our computer (it's a crappy old late-90's model) and guess what I found? Our processor is a Pentium III made in late-1999 (just before 2000, the supposed End of Days). Its clock speed? 666.666 MHz. I am not joking. In addition, the serial number on my tower case is 0015891313! How creepy is that? Does anything around your house have any creepy numbers on it?

As a side note, I remember seeing the serial number 8675309 (as in the song, "867-5309") on something in my house.

I once had 6.66 GB of music on my iTunes.

-My street number is 133. 1+3+3=7
-My house number is 403. 4+0+3=7
-I was born in July. July=7th month
-I was born on the 7th day of July.
-Almost everyone in my family(including me) has 'Michael' in their name. Michael=7 letters.
-When I was a tot, I played softball. My uniform number was 7.
-My family ( which includes my mother's side, my aunt's, my other aunt's, and my uncle's) has lived in a total of 7 different residences over hte course of time.

That's 7 instances of the number 7 in my life. How strange is that?

PS-The thing with the name Michael has another weird thing with it. My full name (Robert Micheal Crisalli)= 6,7,8 ietters.

Creepy indeed.

I don't have anything creepy in my house, but G-Dawg discorvered something unnerving. You know what 1134 spells upside-down on a calculator? Yeah, well add 666 (for those who don't know, that's the number of the devil) to it. You get 1800. Those $19.99 commercials have been evil all along.

What do those numbers stand for? And actually BP, I found that out from my brother, but I guess you heard it from me.

Speaking of the "867-5309" song, someone in my school actually tried dialing that number, and someone actually answered.  We believe it's the number some some sort of hospital.

Actually it used to be a number of an old lady on the east coast. She had to change it because she got to many prank calls. I don't know what it is now, I've never tried calling.

It's different depending on what area code you're in.

I think there's a website that lists what every area code's "867-5309" links to, if I remember right.

In Super Demo World all the levels in Boo's World have a time of 666.  Coincidence, I think not.

I think my favorite appearance of 666 is as follows"

Barney (You know, the children's TV character) is a CUTE PURPLE DINOSAUR.

Now, replacing the u's with v's (like in Rome), you get

CVTE PVRPLE DINOSAVR

If you cull all letters not used in the Roman numeral system, you are left with:

CV VL DIV

Add the Arabic equivalents to these together:

100 + 5 + 5 + 50 + 500 + 1 + 5 = 666.

There you go.

Freaky. I remember when I lived at my old house many years ago, lots of things had the number 13 in them. Our VCR's clock was, for some reason, stuck at 13:00 ("Hey, it's 13:00! Time for a snack!") and I have 13 letters altogether in my name.

By the way, my PC's serial number, 0015891313, was creepy because it ends with two 13's.

That's also the convenience store, 7-11!
Also, if you take my forum screen name (Glorb), convert it to numbers so that it's 6-12-15-18-2, then you can add those digits up to get 53. Then take my real-life name, Jimmy Sherrill, and make it 10-9-13-13-25 19-8-5-18-18-9-12-12 and add the total (171) to 53, you get 224! This, however, means nothing, really.

This might seem blasphemous, but it's still pretty freaky. You know that cap thing that popes wear, a mitre?  Well on it is inscribed "VICARIUS FILII DEI" (Latin for "Vicar of the Son of God").

If you take this phrase and pull out the letters that form Roman numerals, you get:
VICIV ILII DI
Add up those numbers, and you get:
5+1+100+1+5  +  1+50+1+1  +  500+1 = 666

Title: Re: Spooky!

It has not a single thing to do with computers. 666 is The Devil's number. 777 is God's.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on May 11, 2006, 08:53:55 AM
I just realized, the version of the original Doom I have is v1.666, and it takes up 13MB of space! Will the madness ever stop?!

By the way, I didn't know about 777 being God's number. However, in the Dutch version of The Da Vinci Code, the page where they start talking about 666 is page 333. That's half-freaky.

On another side note, I noticed that the Game Boy Color version of the original Grand Theft Auto, one of the characters has a 666 on her (his?) forhead, even though that character wasn't the the original PC/PlayStation version. That means Nintendo actually reverse-censored the game by putting objectionable content in!

666. Number od the devil.
You know?
Oh, notice, at December 12, 2012, the date is, *gulp*,
12/12/12, of which many doomsday sayers are saying will be the end of the world...
But, like what they said about the new millenium, 2000, they may not get this right.

I've know someone whose birthday was on Friday the 13th. Antoher strange thing about me is that some of my friends have the same name ending as me. I once had a theater ticket pointing me to a seat highlighted number 7. My favorite era of music is the 70's (there are other eras that I like but 70's come into my head most) which might have somehting to do with the 7.

The problem with the December 2012 prediction (I thought it was December 11th) was that it is the ending date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, that is, the day the sun is perfectly centered in some system. They thought it would be the end of the world.

However, the human race has been alive for several of these sun alignments. (The Mayans weren't.) That's why Dec. 2012 doesn't worry me as much as, say, current foreign relations.

I dont think that's the date...well it's possible. No one is exactly sure. Anyways, this one kid said it was going to be the end of the world on 5/5/05 at 5:55. It never happened obviously.

When you play the slots and win the jackpot it's 777...the best number in the world!

This isn't creepy...but it is kind of cool. My mom's co-worker had her house burned down. (dad and husband are both fire-fighters, how ironic.) The only things that survived was a plastic case that held a rosary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosary) and a Cross with the chain missing. That's pretty cool I think.

I don't know if this is spooky, but I was wondering if anybody else does this or tried to notice this.  On digital clocks, the digits are made of a maximum of seven line segments, all at right angles.  The digits 4, 5 and 6 are all made of the same amount of line segments as themselves (4 is made of four line segments, etc.).  Also, only the digits 6 and 8 have the same amount of corners as themselves.  Has anyone else noticed this?  If you have, that's spooky!

Hey, and I was the 2,388th member (based on information I just made up), and when you add that to 666, you get 101010110001! In binary, that means "Glorb"! Holy potatoes!

No, you get 3054 when you add 666 and 2388.

I was just going over to GameFAQs to look at my posts over there. I took a screen capture so that you could see how many times the number 5 takes place on my Active Posts page..

EDIT: I just counted, and there are 25 occurances of the number 5 in that image.

Okay, this I can safely say is spooky.  One evening, around a month before I'd turn 15, my cousin showed me Wierd Al's "Horoscope for Today" song (may or may not be a parody).  One part of the lyrics for Cancer (my Zodiac sign) said something like "Try not to stick a roll of duct tape up your nose while taking your drivers test".  What's scary about that is that I had taken the driving portion of my Drivers Ed test that morning!

Also (adding a bit to CTOAN's post), 3054 in binary is 00110011001100000011010100110100. "Glorb" is 0100011101101100011011110111001001100010. 101010110001 in regular text is a guillemet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillemets), with four extra digits on the binary string you supplied. So did you just completly make up those numbers?

Glorb, you just reminded me. before I was born, my family lived in apartment 12A, which is technically 13. In addition to that, m6y grandmother was born on Friday the 13th. Good thing my birth revolves around the number 7. Speaking of which, my birthday falls on 7-7-07 this year. :D

Uh, how were the apartments numbered? I don't understand how "12A" could be 13. If there was like 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, or something, then absolutely no way.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: The Chef on January 14, 2007, 12:57:46 PM
No, you see, 12A was used in place of 13 because there was no 13th apartment in the building due to superstition. The apartments were numbered normally otherwise.

You know, I've just been reminded of this eerie house on the beach block down my aunt's street. It has a whole bunch of old toys and junk nailed to the fence, such as a porcelain sign that says "friendship spoken here" and what appears to be some sort of old naked Barbie doll with it's head lopped off . The name of the residence next to the front door says Miller, but the M looks smudged so that it looks like a K. We've never seen anyone go in or some out of that house. Spooky indeed.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on January 19, 2007, 10:21:50 AM
Nyagh! You just creeped my out big time with the Barbie thing. That reminds me of a house I remember from my childhood...*harp music flashback thing*

Back in my early childhood, we lived in a really woodsy, hick-town kind of place with a population of about 20, half of which were inbred cannibal-type people (or, at least, you'd think so). I don't know why we lived there, but we also picked a primo spot for the house: across the street from the creepiest freaking house you'll ever see in your entire life. It had it all: the front gate was rusty and dilapidated, the house was completely in shambles, with vines growing out of it and whatnot, and, to top it all off, two windows on top that looked like eyes, Amityville-style. Every night, at precisely 1:00 AM, the lights would turn on. I never saw anyone there, but I could make out a few weird shapes, like an upside-down cross and, oddly enough, a teddy bear. However, one night, when I was staring at the window (I did that for days), a shadowy figure appeared and, even though I couldn't see his face, he appeared to give me a stare that made my stomach turn icey. He then close the curtains, and the light started to flash different colors, like a rave or something. After a minute, the lights turned off. I never looked there again.

Post by: The Chef on January 19, 2007, 03:41:38 PM
Oddly enough, there was a house that looked similar to that on the same block as my elementary school. Minus the "eyes" and vines growing from it. Actually, the house was kinda small. So small that it almost looked like a shed. I think they tore it down a couple years ago.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Number 23 yet...

Historically speaking, there is evidence to support that it's actually 616, but c'mon, how scary is that ("333: I'm only half evil")?

-Oh, yeah, numbers. Well, I am under the strong assumption that 7:42 and 7:43 are times of some significance to me because I spontaneously look at the clock when it's that time almost every day (7+4+2=13). Other times, it's 9:11.

-Except for me (I think), 24 is a big deal with my dad's side of the family. Apparently, he and quite a few other relatives were all born on the 24th or some other permutation of those numbers. Also, just about every time you see a watch in an ad, it's at 10:10, and that's alledgedly when my grandpa was born.

And we musn't forget the ultimate number... 42!

That's spooky.

By the way, here's something spooky:

At my school, there is a room of some kind with a door saying "13". It has no windows and is empty, save for a chair that's been there forever, and a black stain on the ceiling. The room is locked and no one has the key (not even the janitor); when the principal picked the lock (which is a cool thing for a principal to know how to do) and went inside, he noticed that the stain was larger than before. Weird.

...'K.
1. Unless the room's on a floor that's barely used (like a seldom-used third floor or the basement), it's not that spooky.
2. It's kind of weird for a janitor to not have a key to a room. Aren't they, like, supposed to have access to every room in the school?
3. It's weird that there's nothing but a chair in there. If a room's in that condition, there's normally nothing inside of the room.
Title: Re: Spooky!

That thing with the room sorta reminds of a dream I had back in fourth grade where a found a room in the building that was all chained up, yet somehow I opened the glass part up like an escape window and got inside. All that was in there was a pile of broken chairs and some kind of new Bomberman arcade game.

That sort of reminds me of the time I had a dream that I found a secret abandoned loading dock in an old part of my school. There were tons of boxes of stuff inside; I remember old boxes of cafeteria food, gym equipment, and various school supplies. The place looked so realistic that I actually tried to look for it the next day after school. But, I never found it.

I had a dream last night that went like this:

My family and I were invited to the Oscars, y'know, because we're celebrities. However, due to the lack of seats, we had to be in a little tiny orange helicopter the whole time, overlooking the ceremonies. From that view, I could see that the giant Oscar statue wasn't real at all, but was actually a hologram! This news, which I somehow gave to everyone, was shocking, and so we were shot down and then forgotten about. After that, we found some empty seats in got in them. Then, some lady came up and said "Excuse me, but I want to sit there. Get up." When I refused she said. "God would be very unhappy with you right now." Then security came and took us away, and I woke up. Weird.

Oh, and CTOAN: The room is real, and it is actually in a seldom used area of the ground floor. To be honest, it's not that spooky, really, but it's odd that there's nothing but a stain and a chair in there, and that it's locked, and that no one can find the key. I'm not saying it's haunted or anything, but it is weird.

Play the dang game and you'll discover that Conker himself isn't that bad of a guy. He just got himself into a crazy situation by accident. Hence the name, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Aside from the immature stuff, the rest of it gets deep. For example, Conker's girlfriend is killed right in front of him, and then at the very end after you kill the Panther King, Conker is forced into taking his place. So even though he has everything, he realizes that he's not happy. And yes, he does have his flaws. He's greedy and irresponsible, but as the game progresses, he learns to better himself after realizing how screwed up the world around him truly is.

The game isn't even about that. Those are just features of it. The game is about a squirrel who wanders into a messed up world and ends up having his life ruined while at the same time learning a valuable lesson.

Oh, and you're just as big of a nerd as me, Glorb. Don't deny it.

I wish Conker was in DKRDS, he was my favortite racer.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on March 15, 2007, 06:07:15 AM
Let's put this whole Conker morality thing into perspective. If I said that I dislike Shadow because he's a dumb character made twice as dumb with an "edgy" attitude and propensity to hold cartoony, oversized guns "gangsta-style", and someone else said that Shadow is merely trying to find his identity in a war he didn't start, I would argue, saying:

A. He was in a dumb game.
2. His game was crappy.

Thus, it's a pointless point to argue. And let's clear something up:

Oh, and you're just as big of a nerd as me, Glorb. Don't deny it.
Nu-uh! I was...uh...voted least likely to be a nerd...in the School of Rock.
Title: Re: Spooky!

Did you play CBFD, Glorb? If not, then everything you said was nullified because you were passing judgement on a game you haven't even played.

For the record, I played Shadow all the way through. It has vritually no substance whatsoever, both gameplay-wise and story-wise.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on March 15, 2007, 01:38:43 PM
For the record, I have played both games, and although CBFD was pretty fun, gameplay-wise (it's a Rare game, so of course it's good), the immature humor grew old quickly. That's it. It's a comedy game, made to amuse and entertain. I don't find it too funny, but others do, and that's fine. I don't consider the plot good, but others do, and that's OK. But I just think it's rather pointless to try and justify stuff in the game; it's just a game. It's like trying to explain plot holes in a movie.

Oh, and none of this is very Spooky, in my opinion.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: The Chef on March 15, 2007, 01:43:56 PM
I'd still put Conker over Shadow for everything. You can't deny that at least some of the humor was clever, with all the movie parodies and how it made fun of video game physics in general, and the idea of the Context Pads was pretty cool, too. Shadow was a cash-in opportunity, and failed on every aspect.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on March 17, 2007, 09:19:49 AM
Hmm...now that I think of it, I'm probably basing most of my opinion on Live and Reloaded, although I've played both games. It's mostly the same game with some extra stuff, but the Terminator 2 and Matrix parodies have become really lame with time. It doesn't matter how funny it was seven years ago; it sure ain't anymore.

But anyway, this argument should end. I agree, Shadow sucks with the fury of a thousand nuns, and Conker was funnier than I remember. Everybody wins. The End.

Post by: The Chef on March 17, 2007, 03:13:06 PM
You chicken.

I know one thing, and that's the fact that Rare put a lot of work into Conker. Shadow probably took all of three days to make.
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: Glorb on March 18, 2007, 08:18:48 AM
Look, I think we all get it already. Conker = good game, Shadow = crap. Conker was funny and good, Shadow was crappy and crap. There's no need to continue this argument, because it is absolutely off-topic, and because you've made the exact same point, like, six times already. Now go to your room, and no desert for you.

Uh, yes. Yes it does. Unless the person is an all around nice person, or is to stupid to respond, if someone is called a name, the other will get angry and argue, call the other person a name, etc.

I have yet to meet a person that will sit there and take it when called a name. I'm sure there are people out there, I just haven't meet them yet.

This lends credence to my theory that Nintendo is stealing ideas from its fans; and no, I'm not joking. A year or two ago, I sent a letter to Nintendo about an idea for a game I had that involved Wario using different costumes to get different powers, for the DS. And lo and behold, there is now Wario: Master of Disguise, which uses a very similar idea (which, incidentally, I ripped off of Little Nemo, which no one else has played).
Title: Re: Spooky!
Post by: The Chef on March 20, 2007, 04:09:01 PM
I wonder if they'll use my ideas if I sent them in. Some of which include:

-A fully 3D Yoshi's Island adventure, without babies.
-A 2D-with-3D-graphics Donkey Kong Country game.
-A fully 3D Kirby, like being stuck without a machine in City Trial in Air Ride, only deeper.
-A third Mario & Luigi featuring Wario and Waluigi.
-A point-and-click adventure for Luigi, with no edutainment.
-A sequel to Wario World, with more similarities to Wario Land.
-A new Zelda that plays more like Adventure of Link.
-A platformer for Bowser that focuses on destruction.
-A single-screen puzzle platformer for Toad.
-A dungeon-crawler for Peach.
-A third-person Metroid Prime.
-A new Kid Icarus that combines elements from SM64, OoT, and Metroid.
-A Nintendo All-Star Strategy RPG that could take the place of SSB if Brawl is really the last one.
-Nintenchickens.

-A third Mario & Luigi featuring Wario and Waluigi.
Hmmm... having four party members who must move individually might get messy... I think going back to the roots of M&L (Superstar Saga, just the two bros.) would be good, but in 3-D for the Wii. Mario & Luigi would make for a good cel-shaded game, I think.

Sakurai mentioned that in the "How This Game Came to be Made" section of the SSB website. We're lucky they got him to direct it Otherwise we'd have juts gotten a Melee remake with online capabilities.

People who got MK:DD were expecting online play, but were disappointed, that was in 2003, so we can say that you stole their idea, besides, Nintendo can't read minds, or maybe you screamed your idea to the public everyday.
