If this turns out to be another of DS's mini-game games like Yoshi's Touch and Go I swear....

But it has a lot of the level designs from the first so that's good. The secondary screen seems iffy. Not being in the center of the screen ( or either of them ) like most other side scrollers could be a problem.

Yeah, it looks really similar. That's not a bad thing. I'm hoping it won't be too easy, Yoshi had 8 eggs in the video... Maybe we'll find out why Donkey Kong became a barrel-throwing guy with a motionless face.

I don't know.  I'd like to see an adventure/platformer in which Baby Mario and Baby Luigi save Baby Peach

Wow.  That's crazy.  But it looks fun too.  Hopefully not too easy though.  I really don't like when Nintendo makes things too easy for younger kids.

How did Baby Mario come back to Yoshi's Island after the stork brought him back to his parents?  And why didn't Luigi come too?  Was he kidnapped with the other children?  Does that mean that Mario's family moved to Yoshi's Island along with other humans?  So many questions.

Geez, I'm going to die if Nintendo keeps announcing all these games that are greater than our existence. I no longer regret working 4 hours a day after school considering I'm going to need it all to afford all these games that reek of awesomeness.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

There was a Baby DK in the DKC TV show, so maybe Nintendo is going obscure or something.

I think my favorite game on the SNES was Yoshi's Island, and this will be definitely another of my favorite games. I wonder why they don't have Baby Luigi, too. Baby DK does seem a little odd.

i beat yoshis island. wow the last level rocks

anyways when yoshis island ended i thought how are there going to make a sequal. mario and luigi already have parents so is the story for YI2 just mario rides on yoshi for fun or something. and wheres luigi in the trailor. is it possible yoshis island 2 could be a prequal of yoshis island? or the might just forget the story from the first one.

donkey kong didnt grow up in yoshis island! he doesnt live in a cute world he lives in a world thats kind of realistic but the characters arent at all realistic.

by the way is green yoshi the only playable yoshi? if there add different colored yoshis then you should be able to pick a yoshi like yoshis story and they should have special abilities instead of all being the same.

How's that?  This Baby DK is existing in the past, in the same time frame as Baby Mario.

And the different-colored Yoshis are based on the level, like in Yoshi's Island.

I'm guessing the Baby DK is Cranky, he's probably just a bit older then the other babies (and he's an ape meaning he ages faster) so it's more then likley him.

The baby looks a lot more like Super DK. We may only be able to tell if the baby is wearing a tie. Cranky never wore a tie.

« Reply #31 on: May 19, 2006, 09:54:12 PM »
If Cranky never wore a tie, then who is the DK in MvDK (the first one)? If he's Super DK, then why isn't Mario a lot older in MvDK than he was in the original arcade Donkey Kong?

I doubt this mystery can be solved, frankly.

Donkey Kong wore a tie in Game Boy Donkey Kong and the Game & Watch Gallery series, which featured Donkey Kong Jr.

But I thought that the DK in DK '94 was Cranky's son and the DK Jr. was Cranky's grandson who grew up to become Super DK.

« Reply #34 on: May 20, 2006, 02:22:34 PM »
If this game is nearly as good as the original, I'll be happy.  Yoshi's Story was probably one of the biggest let-downs of all time.

As for the babies... I'm okay with them, surprisingly.  Usually the babyfied characters [anger me], but I figure Yoshi's Island 2 will probably either take place in the past, or most likely the mysterious floating island is the cause of Yoshi's baby problems.

Artoon, don't screw this up!

Looking at the videos here at TMK, I'm a bit sad that the boss didn't have that special kind of morphing like in the first Yoshi's Island (thanks to Super FX2). I am intrigued by baby DK. I would be perfectly happy if Nintendo forgot about the Rare continuity and treats current DK like original DK.

« Reply #40 on: June 02, 2006, 11:26:12 PM »
Rare split. Nintendo can do whatever they want with DK. Cranky isn't in that canon. Sorry to burst bubbles like that. Besides, Crankey's not even in the game! Why worry about it before it is even released? Crankey might be explained in the manual for all you know!
I bet I'm better than you at Yoshi's Island 64!

*Stumbles upon amazing news*

...?!

A sequel to one of the greatest games ever made...?  Awesome.  I think it's safe to call these games the "Super Mario World Trilogy" then.  Assuming that Yoshi's Island 2 will have the alternate title of "Super Mario World 3."  But yeah, the game looks amazing...I was thinking previously how wonderful it would be to play a sequel to Yoshi's Island, because I felt that Yoshi's Island was a bit too short.  This sequel will be the perfect climax.

I'm just hoping Nintendo's new policy isn't "The more playable characters with unique moves, the better the game." In SSB maybe that's true...
You know, whenever I say "I'm not getting this game" about any game, I usually end up getting it anyway. So I won't say whether I'll get YI2 or not.
