A few days ago, I discovered an abandoned house not too far away from my house.
Equipped with a camcorder and an empty miniDV, I ventured inside. This is what I recorded.

What the heck happened to that place?

Interesting video. I thought you were a wimp for going during the day until you went into that dark section of the house. I'm surprised there wasn't any homeless people in there.

I've also got another video, except it's of an abandoned mansion next door to the house in the first video. As soon as it's finished uploading, I'll post the link.
Interestingly, a lot of valuables were left inside. Two large Bose speakers, an old Windows 95 computer, binders full of misc. information, etc.

That is creepy as all heck. Living near a wooded area myself, I know of at least two houses like that near where I live, as well as a super-crazy-creepy place near where I lived as a little kid.

Near my current abode is a cluster of burnt-out houses in some woods; judging by the abundance of rusted metal structures and stairways leading underground (I can count two just from looking at its front) I'd say it was some sort of industrial area or mining camp that was abandoned, then grown over by the forest. One of these days I intend to muster up some courage and have a look around.

There's also a house on the side of the road that used to sell ham back in the '60s from what I hear, but was simply abandoned and is now pretty much held together by all the vines growing all over it. Sadly, it collapsed completely before I had the chance to explore it.

And back where I used to live as a kid, there was this haunted-mansion type place that would flash some lights inside every now and then, like someone was throwing a rave in there (which, come to thin of it, was probably true).

"What happened here" is right... my guess is teenage vandals. Though, the damage is really, really extreme. It's still pretty creepy... too bad there were no ReDeads inside.

Man that's one beaten house! I wonder what happened to it because my first impression was something from the elements (tornados or high wind storms) but there are other possibilities.

I was expecting Combine Soldiers.

That doesn't look like a bad place to live and I bet the rent is cheap. I'll call my real estate agent about this place. I don't mind a few gapping holes in the floor, I'd make a killn' selling all that broken glass to the recycling plant and I bet the ghosts would make good chums.

From left to right:
 - Abandoned House 859 (compilation of 41 interior/exterior shots here)
 - Abandoned House 835
 - Abandoned House 825 (exterior shots of the house in November 2007 here)
 - Abandoned House 787 (the one in the video)
 - Abandoned House 777 (I'm not even going to begin stating how creepy this house is)

All of them have been heavily damaged.

So all of those houses in that section are abandoned? That's weird...
I also just figured out that My house is abandoned!

Those blasted whippersnappers! No respect for authority, I tell ya...

Anyway, you should be careful. Chances are that if there's a hole in a roof, there's a Combine headcrab canister nearby.

The entire southeasternmost section of the neighborhood is composed of nice, albeit abandoned, houses.
The garage door on an house 859 was left open, so I went inside. There, I found the following:
 - Old '90s-style computer
 - Monitor
 - Mouse
 - Two keyboards
 - Three Bose speakers
 - Misc. remote controls
 - Pool operation instructions
 - College notes (University of Chicago)
 - Bill payment sheets
 - Wigs
 - Fur coats
 - Gramophone
 - A large expanse of books
 - Kitchen supplies
 - Women's underwear (seriously)
 - Windows 95 install disk
 - Gateway introduction disk
 - Several pennies
 - Well-preserved VCR video labeled "Goldberg-Tarshis"
 - Water bed mattress
 - Floor lamp
 - Folding desk
 - Balloons
 - Dead plants
 - Pile of coat hangers

But this last thing I found just completely befundled me.
I found a note concerning the CIA.

Most of the stuff I found I took pictures of; they're in a .zip in my previous post in this topic.

You live in the kewlest neighborhood ever. I'm already fabricating a backstory where the CIA used a nanobot virus to wipe out the inhabitants so they wouldn't spread the truth that the Dharma Initiative used Tagruato as a front company to create the Cloverfield monster using DNA recovered from a Xen portal in a Black Mesa lab.

Actually, I'm gonna go write that fanfic now.

You said Several Pennies twice!
