Game Help / 3DS Shuts Off in Sleep Mode
« on: October 13, 2014, 11:23:38 AM »
So, I've got a first generation 3DS system. Sometimes when I close it and put it in sleep mode, it will shut itself off at that time instead of going into sleep mode, and I have to hit the power button to turn it back on. Not always a big deal, but sometimes I'm at work and carry it around with me for streetpasses (hence, not always being able to check and see if it's in sleep mode or shut itself off).

Does anybody else have this problem, or what did you do to fix it?

Mario Chat / Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
« on: September 04, 2014, 02:51:17 PM »
There isn't a topic about this game yet (given, release is way off yet) so I thought I'd make one.

I wonder if it'll have any instances of the Mario theme, or if Mario will make a cameo at all..?

The only thing I have a problem with with this game: Captain Toad doesn't appear to have jumping ability in this game. Apparently he didn't jump in stages similar to this in 3D World, but I don't have a Wii U..

Game Help / Progressive Scan?
« on: February 18, 2014, 12:28:48 PM »
This isn't about a specific game, but on several separate occasions, when I put a Gamecube disk into the Wii and start up the game, the system will ask me if I want to use "Progressive Scan Mode". It's done it on several Gamecube games, and.. Well, I'm not even sure what it is..

* Toad blushes

Anyway, what's the difference between progressive scan and.. normal scan?

Mario Chat / Mario Kart 8
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:55:31 AM »
There doesn't appear to be a thread here for this game, so I made one.

I am excited about the Koopalings appearing in this game! I am not excited about the babies once again returning, but as long as they keep the items balanced like they were in MK7, I will be ok with baby heroes/princesses (as long as they are the only babies appearing this round..)

Game Help / WarioWare DIY Showcase
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:22:59 AM »
So, I'm trying to use one of the Gamefaqs game saves for WarioWare DIY Showcase to get a game from a user who no longer has internet access (that's misleading: he can still post on the internet but he can't get his DS or other devices online anymore).

Anyway, he gave me instructions on how to use the game save, but it's not working. Per the instructions, I'll download the file, save it to my computer, copy it to the SD card (where DIY Showcase is saved, supposedly) and rename the file. But somehow, my original file stuff is still there.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong..

General Chat / Favorite 3D Software
« on: March 20, 2013, 06:27:30 PM »
I've become interested in wanting to create 3D images and such, and wanting to look into it. What is a good 3D software for the PC?

I've heard of two programs (3DS Max and Maya) but I wonder if there are any more..?

Game Help / FBI pc blocked message??
« on: December 11, 2012, 02:13:40 AM »
So, apparently the FBI has blocked my computer for some reason (I'm on the 3ds as I type this..)
I was on facebook when what seemed to be a pop-up window appeared. It seems to have the official US FBI logo at the top, and tells me "this pc is blocked due to one of the reasons listed below" and a number of things I haven't done is listed.
It would seem that the only  way to "close" the window (since it popped back open upon computer restart) would be to pay the 300 dollar fine fee. But I don't have 300 dollars.. What do I do?

Game Help / Super Nes Repairs
« on: October 05, 2012, 10:39:42 AM »
I recently set up my Super Nes and tried to play several games, Yoshi's Island among them. While the game still functions ok, I am having a couple of issues with it..

Sometimes when collecting coins, Yoshi will act like he hit his head on a harmless celeing and then fall out of the sky, or sometimes be pushed through the floor if the coin was level with the ground. (just the coins that are floating in the levels, not the ones produced from enemies being hit with yellow eggs)

There have also been a couple of times when the sprites completely disappear from the screen. I am not sure what the cause of this is, but it can usually be fixed by backtracking in the level and then going back to the area where they disappeared.

Now for the big one: I started a new file, and am stuck in World 1-6. Every time I go into the secret tunnel with the Mole Tank transformation, I can move Tank Yoshi over to the edge of the dig-able dirt, and then one of three things happen..

- the game freezes, but the cave music still plays

- the game goes to a black screen, but the cave music still plays

- the game boots back to the title screen, as if the reset button has been hit

I checked that level in my other two files, and it happens in those two files too. Upon further research, the Mole Tank freezes the game in any level, not just 1-6,

I've tried cleaning the game and the system, and all of our other games work just fine. After doing some research, I may need to replace the head of my Snes, but I can't find instructions on how to do that.

My other games work just fine, so should I try to fix the system, or get another copy of YI and hope for the best..?

Game Help / Pokemon Pear and/or SoulSilver
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:02:36 AM »
I was thinking of doing a Nuzlocke run in one of my DS Pokemon games, and the likely candidate is Pearl, since if I start a new game in SoulSilver that would mean resetting the Pokewalker too.

I've already decided on what monster I want to use, it's just that all the trading involved in getting Pearl ready is kinda dampening my spirits a little bit, so is there a way to trade several monsters from one game to another instead of having to trade one at a time?

Also: any advice on items from Pearl I should try to save?

Game Help / mIRC Alternative?
« on: September 04, 2011, 11:38:03 AM »
Apparently our power went out at some point in the night, and since I was signed into the chatroom, it kicked me out. Upon restarting the computer, I tried to get back into mIRC, but the only two buttons that appear are Register and Exit. Exit is usually grey-out for about ten seconds after the window opens up, and closing/reopening the window usually switches it over to a continue button, but it hasn't worked yet.

So, is there some alternative to mIRC, preferably something free? mIRC keeps asking me to register, usually for anywhere between 15 or 20 bucks. I wouldn't mind paying that, but things besides chatting on the internet come first (not that I don't want to chat with you..)

Something free that supports scripts, since I would want to transfer my script over. Please and thank you. :)

Game Help / Neverwinter Sprites
« on: May 05, 2011, 11:11:33 PM »
I don't need help with the game since it hasn't been online for 14 years, but I was wondering if anybody knows where to find the sprites for this game (the original Neverwinter Nights, from 1991, that ran on AOL for several years).

I would like them for a totally stupid reason: to make a WarioWare DIY minigame with them.

So, is anyone able to help me?

Video Game Chat / Video Game Challenges
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:18:30 PM »
I forget if there is already a thread like this, but...

I recently finished a challenge in SMB3: use only powerups and abilities found in SMB1. Mushrooms, Flowers, Stars and no carrying shells. I found that there are two levels that are impossible to do this challenge in, both of which are in World 7. The first Fortress (you have to have some kind of flying ability to reach the pipe in the large empty room) and 7-9 (it's a literal pipe maze, and there are some ice blocks blocking the path..)

Anyway, I was thinking of doing something similar in another game, and was curious about what kind of challenges others may have thought of (they don't have to be for Mario games neccesarily..)

Game Help / DS Wifi Woes
« on: February 13, 2011, 10:58:14 PM »
I am having a lot of trouble connecting my ds games to my router. For whatever reason, only Mario vs DK 3 is able to connect. I've tried connecting Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS, and others, but all I get are error messages with those.

The last time I connected MvsDK3 (just a few minutes ago) I actually recieved an error message on it too (but I was logging off anyway, so meh).

I haven't played any of these games online in a while, so I forget how to fix a problem like this.

Video Game Chat / Toad's "We're Wireless Again" Celebration
« on: February 09, 2011, 12:02:35 PM »
Would anybody be up for a Pokemon egg trading event? Bring four or five eggs (since you can't have a party full of eggs) and we'll all trade! My wife may also join us too (this is all weather permitting of course.)

I was thinking Friday afternoon or sometime Saturday, since those are my days off this week. :)
