In honor of the release of the Nintendo Wii's first official NHL/NHLPA licensed hockey video game (NHL 2K9, from 2K Sports), our main man Mario is taking a trip to Toronto. He'll be available for picture opportunities on the red carpet at Elgin Theatre, 6:15 p.m. ET, during the 2008 NHL Awards.

It seems like a rather unreasonable ploy to sell another iteration of another sport simulator, but you've got to admit, those official Mario costumes are pretty good.

With apologies for Kotaku for using their image, here's the official Mario costume I mentioned. He looks rather... sell-out-like holding such a non-Mario game.

I never play sports games.  Why imitate in a game what you can already play in real life?

That was a joke.

The guy from Lois and Clark is D-E-A-N-C-A-I-N, not C-A-N-A-D-E-A-N.
