Best: Super Mario World. It's just awesome, it is. I especially like the parts after the four glissandos between octaves. Let's not also forget SMW2's melancholy waltz.

Worst: Even though SMG manages to make it sound great, I don't really like SMB3's fortress theme.

After [and before] reading that comic, I would agree that Koji Kondo is, indeed, awesome.

Worst...eh, I'm going to go with SM64, because I got sick of hearing the castle music really quickly - you hear at least the beginning of it every time you finish a star.

The castle music in SM64 is not considered canon since Peach's Castle is not a level with a boss at the end.
People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

As far as castle/fortress music goes... SMB1 had some pretty eerie castle music. SMW has the best castle music that I've heard. SMRPG had a great remix of SMB3's Bowser battle music in Bowser's Keep.

Does SM64 "Road to Bowser" music count? I know it's technically not in a castle, but it is considered a boss level.

"The music is not considered canon"? What in the sam hill is that even supposed to mean?
That was a joke.

I assume he meant that he believes Peach's Castle doesn't count as a castle as it doesn't have a boss at the end. I think canon might've been the wrong word there...
