Mario Chat / Re: Mario voice needed!
« on: January 24, 2003, 12:50:31 AM »
Wow,
I just took a look through your site, and I'm rather impressed!  Though I've only yet tried the Super Smashed Bros. game, I must say that you seem quite adept at using Multimedia Fusion.
Plus, it's very rare that you find someone else who's played Hunt the Wumpus on a TI-99, or even knows what either of those are.

Video Game Chat / A little game what I've been making...
« on: September 20, 2005, 05:15:41 PM »
'Hoy!

I thought I'd share this little game I've been working on for a while now.  I've mentioned it in #tmk a couple of times, but I don't think anybody here has actually played it.

http://www.geocities.com/f1fth/download/nothing.zip

(You'll need Windows to play it.)

It's a retro-style 2D-platformer/adventure game where the main character is a quadruped.  What's here is the first area.  It's not fully completed, but what's here is fully playable.  Just know that when you get to a dark, cloudy area, you've reached the end of the world.

I guess that's it.  Let me know if you have any questions/complaints and such.

Fan Creations / Try-a my game, you'll-a like it!

'Hoy!

My friend and I have been working on a small puzzle game for school purposes, and have just gotten it to a 'beta' mode for testing purposes.

So, here I am, posting it, hoping that I can get someone to try it out.  You'll need a Windows operating system to play it, and a computer faster than mine (which isn't hard) to play it well.

Download

I basically want to know:

-If it runs

-If anybody can figure out how to play it with what's there

-If it's at all fun

-If it's possible to lose in the 1-player survival mode

-Is the 2-player vs mode is any fun

-If the attack patterns are any good (and which are favorites)

...and whatever else I should know.

So go!  Try it!

General Chat / Anagrams
« on: May 10, 2004, 07:17:15 PM »
An anagram is when you rearrange the letters of something (i.e. a word, a phrase, a name,) to some up with something else.  Oftentimes, the results are humorous, or even insightful (heh).

So, this thread is for posting amusing anagrams.  I'd suggest going here to make things easier.

Here are a few amusing ones I found for "Shigeru Miyamoto":

"I'm so the Mario guy!"

"Go!  Immature Yoshi!"

So... any interesting finds?

Mario Chat / "Throwing Balloons" ...dot ccn
« on: April 28, 2003, 09:03:05 PM »
Yay!  I just finished a re-creation of the "Throwing Ballons" mini-game from Yosih's Island!

It's a Vitalize! file, so you'll need to have the plug-in installed on your 'puter.
Don't worry about downloading it, it's a perfectly safe (in that it can't effect your computer or your hard drive) PC plug-in that works in most browsers.  And it's not commonplace, so you won't have to worry about companies using it for annoying ads!

*shoots a nasty glance at Flash*

So... to whoever's brave enough to download this thing... tell me if it works.

Site Discussion / Hey, Deezer! (Mario Manga Covers)

I was leafing through TMK, and saw the request for Mario Manga cover scans in the "wanted" section.

Are you still looking for those?  Because I remember hearing about this site from somewhere a while back (it may have been from these very forums) that may be what you're looking for.

If not, just disregard this message.

Site Discussion / Found a SMW bug!
« on: February 15, 2003, 01:41:30 AM »
I don't know if this bug is new or not.  I looked through the SMW bug page, and I think it might be the "block factory" one, but I'll go ahead anyway...

It was in Vanilla Dome 3, right at the halfway point.  After the koopa was dead and the red shell was still, I picked up the shell and tossed it upwards at the blockk that contained Yoshi.  The shell missed the block, but just barely, and hit just to the right (the red switch hadn't been pressed, so it was just the outline.)  And there, to the right of the Yoshi block where the red outline was, appeared another Yoshi block.

That's it.  Is that the "block factory" bug?

Site Discussion / Hey, TMK, I got Mario tunes...
« on: February 01, 2003, 04:32:46 PM »
Hey, to anyone at TMK who happens to be interested, I just happened to acquire several Mario-related tunes that I haven't heard before (including on WTMK.)  Tell me if you're interested in/have heard/don't need/whatever these:

DJPretzel - Mario64 SunkenSuite OC Remix : A nice remix of the water tune from Mario 64 by DJPretzel (Hmmm... I've heard that name before...)
Jaroban - Super Mario Medley (Live) : Exactly that, a live performance of a Super Mario medley.
Bros. 2 -- Super Buck Jazz : Dunno who the artist is, but it's a very well-done jazzy Mario 2 overworld.
Analoq - SMB3 Aquacadence : The SMB3 underwater tune with a very dramatic feel to it.
Mustin - La Samba de Agua : A live samba version of the water world's map theme from SMB3.
Virt - DrMario Funky Pills OC Remix : a great version of the Chill and Fever songs from Dr. Mario.
Kaijin/JAXX - Marioland - Reel Big Mario - OC Remix : Good remix of the Super Mario Land tune.
Spacepony - Let's go Mario : A sort of loose remix of the SMW tune with some sounds added as rhythm.
World -- Super Mario's Sleigh Ride : Dunno the artist.  Sort of Super Mario World fused with Christmas tunes.  Weird.
DJPretzel - SuperMarioWorld Vegas OC Remix : There's DJPretzel again... a very sw.anky remix of the SMW tune.

Site Discussion / Animal Crossing references...
« on: September 18, 2002, 03:15:17 AM »
I see you managed to get most of the Mario references from Animal Crossing up promptly.  I can confirm that the "M" shirt isn't just a custom design (I delivered one to Tangy once.)  But there is one more reference (that I know of) that you missed:
When you hit certain rocks with a shovel (I think there's one per character per day) it'll turn red, bounce to the side, and drop a bag of bells.  If you can then hit the rock 4+ times before it fades to gray again, it'll drop large sums of bells, and play the Mario 1-up tune.
That's it!

Mario Chat / Detail features in SSBM
« on: July 02, 2002, 12:16:24 AM »
I just discovered a new (to me, at least) little feature in Smash Bros. Melee:  if you go into the sound test and select a level BGM to play, then go into the trophy gallery, that music will be playing.

Isn't it amusing how many pointlessly random little details like that are in the game?  From the myriad hidden features, and things like fighting Giga Bowser, or the metal Bros. as opposed to just metal Mario, to being able to tilt the screen with the c-stick and use alternate musics for many levels, to the entire concept of the trophies, the sheer number of them, detail of the description and the fact that one will occasionally seem to earn one out of the blue...
Just the fact that they bothered to put all of this stuff in is simply grand.  I wonder what else there is that I've yet to find...

Site Discussion / Question: The MP3s on WTMK
« on: April 07, 2002, 07:41:00 PM »
It would be best were a TMK staff member to answer this, but I'll leave it open if anybody has some information.

I'm trying to find the MP3s of some of the songs that have been played on WTMK.  Some of them, however, I have no idea what they were called nor who they were by, and I haven't heard them recently.
Particularly, I'm looking for a few of the medleys, the ones of SMB (I think it started with a weird techno voice), SMB3, and the SMW one that uses the underground>ghost house>castle songs.

Any help would be appreciated; it's hard to search for something you don't know what to call, and the sooner the better, as this is tied in with a school assignment that's due in a couple of weeks.
