The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived.  Satoru Iwata gave his keynote address.



Key points

  • DS online service is coming.

  • DS online service will be free.

  • Mario Kart DS supports 8-players, no details whether it will be online.

  • Animal Crossing DS is online.

  • 4 million DS units have shipped, with ~6 million at Euro launch

  • Revolution is backwards compatible with GC games.

  • Revolution will support wi-fi out of the box.

  • IBM is developing "Broadway" CPU for Revolution.

  • ATI is developing "Hollywood" GPU for Revolution.


There's also a new high quality Zelda trailer.


Now the wait until E3...

I officially went from "on the fence" to "woah I need this game" after seeing that Zelda trailer.

That was cool, but you got me really excited when you said Revolution. I thought you meant that Mario DDR, which, did I mention, is Heaven installed on a disc?

I saw the Zelda trailer from another forum, and thought it was great. I also heard about the Revolution being backwards compatible with GCN games (Great move, Nintendo).

I'm so gonna buy the zelda game once it comes out. The graphics look superb, and it looks like it'll be the best one so far. (at least in my book). Isn't it going to be rated "M" also?
