Title: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: Forest Guy on May 15, 2006, 06:28:23 PM
I recently read somewhere in a swarm of psychotic forum-goers at a different website, that someone e-mailed Nintendo at nintendo@noa.nintendo.com regarding the Japan polls for new characters, and received a response saying something along the lines of that if we wrote in character suggestions, they'd take them into consideration in line with those polls in Nintendo of Japan.

Regardless of whether they'll actually really do this, I figured it'd be nice to start up a good-old-fashioned Character Ideas thread.

Also, this topic marks my official rejoining of the forums, since I just re-obtained the privelage of starting topics.

I sent them a Wario suggestion. It was a huge mistake not putting him in the other two.

Wario is already going to be in SSBB!! @_@

1.Mario
2.Luigi
3.Peach
4.Yoshi
5.Bowser
6.Donkey Kong
7.Link
8.Zelda/Shiek
9.Samus
10.Kirby
11.Fox
12.Pikachu
13.Jigglypuff
14.Mewtwo
15.Ness
16.Captain Falcon
17.Marth
18.Mr.Game and Watch
19.Ice Climber
20.Dr.Mario*
21.Young Link*
22.Falco*
23.Pichu*
24.Ganondorf*
25.Roy*

The * means this character is a copy of another character. Despite this, these characters actually play much differently than their counterparts. I firmly beleive that NONE of the characters should be removed under any cirumstances. You may think some are useless, but they may actually be more useful to someone else than you think. Just ask the folks at Smashboards.
I also think that some of the characters who had their abilities nerfed in the transition From SSB64 to SSBM be made stronger in the next SSB. I say this because Smashboards has teir lists showing how useful the characters are to the proffessional smashing community. Charactrers like Fox and Sheik rank higher up because they were made with so many fast moves, while Bowser and Donkey Kong rank lower because thay are so freaken slow. If Nintendo hadn't attached these handicaps to these characters, their playability may have changed. With the current physics that Bowser has, he doesn't appear as powerful as he should. I think thats an insult to an otherwise great character. Similar events happened with Kirby and Pikachu, who were powerful in the previous game, but extremely nerfed in SSBM. Due this problem with balancing the characters out, I have only chosen the characters with the most moveset potential and made the list a minimum of 45 characters. So, on with the list.

26.Toad- Light, fast, with the ability to throw stuff from SMB2.
27.Wario- Heavy, with his attacks form Wario Land and Wario World.
28.Diddy/Dixie- A cross between Zelda and Ice Climbers, with their moves from DKC2.
29.Meta Knight- Light like Kirby, with sword attacks like Link.
30.King DeDeDe- Sort of like a heavier Kirby, with hammer attacks like the Ice Climbers.
31.Wolf- Slightly heavier than Fox, with completely different special attacks.
32.Krystal- Another female character who would fight using her staff.
33.Ridley- Sort of a lighter Bowser with different attacks and a 'floaty-jump'.
34.Munchlax- Similar to Jigglypuff, only heavier with a few different attacks.
35.Jeff- Uses all of his inventions as attacks.
36.Poo- Has PK attacks like Ness, but has Martial Arts-tpe moves for his regular attacks.
37.Black Shadow- Ganondorf can get a new moveset that more true to his character, and his old one can be transfered to this guy.
38.Hector- Big character who fights with an axe.
39.Lyn- We need a female Fire Emblem character.
40.Balloon Fighter- Not sure about his moveset, but he was almost in SSBM.
41.Pit- It would be nice to see him return and he could be almost like a floaty Link.
42.Olimar- He'd be small, but would attack with a huge army of Pikmin.
43.Hakkun- This guy appeared in a game for the Broadcast Satellite for the SNES. Hes like a clear jellybean with a mosquito needle. In his game, you had to suck color out of blocks and put them in other blocks to gat around the stages. This wpuld make an interesting moveset.
44.Lip- She's from Panel de Pon and her staff appeared as and item in SSBM, so now she could make a good playable female character.
45.Imajin- He's the kid from Doki Doki Panic. First of all, this game needs recognition.Second, due to the game he's from, he could be a clone of Toad.

Yes, I reposted my list from that other thread. I love it that much.
Here's a few more:

46.Solid Snake
47.Sonic
48.Viewtiful Joe
49.Bonk
50.Captain N

This is just speculation on the other 3rd party characters that may be included. I also think that Captain N should return(redesigned though, with a Wiimote as a weapon).

Maybe Nintendo will be nice and let Sonic and Tails in like that April Fool's joke a few years ago. I mean, they won't blow ALL the secret characters in the trailer, you know? There's bound to be about 10 or 20 (!) more... I mean, think of how long this game has been in development, Nintendo likes to have secrets.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: Forest Guy on May 15, 2006, 09:44:37 PM
Yeah, I must apologize, I looked a page or two back and didn't see any ones that were recently active, but I still felt kinda wrong doing so. However, I digress...

I really think King Dedede would round out the Kirby characters. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only real Kirby fan out there...

...also from what I heard, in a lot of the polls Nintendo is sending out, Geno is incredibly popular, so I'd say we have a better than unlikely chance we'll be seeing him in there.

While we're at it with 3rd party characters, the thing that would make me happy for the rest of my life in terms of games, would be for Nintendo to get permission from Rare to stick Banjo and Kazooie in there.

I would like Olimar to be in the game. My idea for special moves are that B picks out Pikmin and throws them onto the opponent, Down B throws a Yellow Pikmin holding a Bomb Rock, Smash B uses the Whistle to call the opponent over, and Up B is a Rocket to propel him upwards. If there are going to those "Smash Emblems", Olimar would create a huge cloud out of the Extra Spicy Potion (from Pikmin 2), and a swarm of Pikmin trample in, attacking everything in their path.

I don't even think the characters in the trailer were secret. For SSBM, secret characters didn't appear in any art or movies.

you know Forest Guy, I dont think that Geno or mallow have a good chance of being in the party because arent they property of Square Enix? And didn't Nintendo lose square after they made SMRPG? anyway, I think an ausome addition (for me) would be Tanooki Mario!! He would have a sorta floaty jump and be quicker but weaker than mario. Here are his moves: B: Tail swipe, mario would spin around in place causing damage to anyone who touches him. You can do that many times ina row. >B: Tail Spin: He would spin around not in place but moving around. Down B: Stone. It's just like kirbys move only this one is stronger and lasts longer. Up B: Flight. mario will fly, this has good vertical and horizontal raech. Also if mario reaches his top speed running when he jumps he will make a short flight. Whadaya think?

I think the NES, SNES and Game Boy should be characters. They could even include my idea for a system, the pNES. His attack would be to say his name out loud, making the other character burst into a fir of crazy laughter.

Other ideas:

R.O.B.
That bug guy from Kirby's Adventure
Simon or Trevor Belmont
Mother Brain
A Space Pirate
Tails
Mega Man
Bass
Captain Commando
Ryu or Ken

Well, see, that's the thing. With the addition of Snake to the game, it opens the door to 3rd-party characters. So theoretically if Nintendo wanted to, they could ask Square for permission to use Geno in the game, just as I said they could ask Rare to do with Banjo and Kazooie.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: The Chef on May 16, 2006, 02:53:55 PM
It doesn't open the door for 3rd parties entirely. No one said that Squenix would be involved with the game. The only ones involved are Sakurai's team and don't say that Hideo Kojima was involved because he wasn't. Sakurai was the one who made the desicion to add Snake. He didn't have to if he didn't want to, but he did out of generosity. I still firmly believe that they are focusing majorly on NINTENDO. Myamoto may have said that there may be a possibility for other 3rd parties as well, but there probably won't be any more than one or two. If this happens, then the only ones who get added will probably be the most unique, not the most popular.

I e-mailed NOA and they told me to post character suggestions here (http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=smash&message.id=6).  I signed up for a free Nintendo account, but for some reason I can't post messages.  My guess is someone else here has a working Nintendo account.  If so, I ask of them this favor: follow the link above and reply saying you want Michael Jones from Star Tropics as a playable character in Smash Brothers Brawl.  This isn't some lame attempt to trick others into voting my way, though I certainly wouldn't mind if that happened... My account seriously is broken.  Someone please help.

EDIT: I just discovered the problem.  I can't post in the character-suggestion thread until I reach a certain rank within the Nintendo forum, by reading messages, spending time online, etc.  I'll be patient and post my character suggestion when I can.  However, I still encourage others to voluntarily post requesting Michael Jones, who would in fact make a great addition to the Brawl roster.

Kojima is a friend of the creator of the Smash Bros. series. That's how they got Snake in the game.

Solid Snake and the Metal Gear franchise are incredicbly popular, so the addition of Snake may lure some Metal Gear fans over!

I would love to have Sonic and Tails in Super Smash Bros. The dreams of many fanboys of having Mario and Sonic in the same game together would finally come true!

Also, Mega Man and Dr. Wiley would make good additions, since Mega Man started on Nintendo anyways!

Also, please please please please include King Dedede from the Kirby series. Metaknight made into the game, so why not Dedede?

Go to www.smashbros.com (the official site from Nintendo) and read a blog from the creator of the Smash Bros. games! It is very interesting!

EDIT: I just went to the website and found out that they put Pitt (Kid Icarus) in the game! I have always wanted to play Kid Icarus, and now with the Virtual Console on the Wii, I can!

3rd party characters may not be as readily available as Snake was. According to most sites, the creator of the Solid Snake series "begged" for his character to be included in the game. Other companies may not throw themselves at Nintendo in such a manner.

I wish Square would beg to put SMRPG on the GBA. We sure have been begging them to do that for long enough...

Yeah, Snake got into Smash Bros. Brawl because Nintendo has a decent relationship with Konami... however, Nintendo also has good relationships with Sega, Capcom and Namco...

Maybe we'll be seeing Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man joining the other Smash Brothers? Here's hoping.

Even though The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker wasn't considered a huge Zelda game by many people, it was a Zelda game nonetheless.  I personally loved that game, and I think it would be great if Makar and Medli showed up as hidden characters.
The Super Smash Brothers games could use some cell-shading.  :)

I wish they'd give Doki Doki Panic some recognition. At least a trophy of the characters. Most people don't know about the very game that led to the creation of SMB2.

Yes, I heard about Kojima 'begging' to have Snake put in.

I'm not saying that it's going to happen, I simply think we have a better chance than any other Smash Bros. games, to have 3rd party characters in it.

Personally, I believe if enough people suggest Geno, Nintendo will ask Square about, and I really don't think Square would object to it. The poor guy's been out of work for so long, he hasn't done anything outside of a cameo in ages. And come on, Square is making Mario Baskeball for heaven's sake, I think if Geno didn't make it to Brawl, he'd have another chance of being a super-secret character in Mario Basketball.

I wish a new version of Captain N would be playable. If he was, there could be a Kingdom Hearts-style game where he has to save the worlds of Nintendo from the Leauge of Villans made afterward. But that would never happen.....

I revised my list a bit , and grouped the chracters into 'teams' based on the franchises.

Team Mario
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Toad
Yoshi
Wario
Bowser
Dr.Mario*

Team Zelda
Link
Zelda/Sheik
Ganondorf*
Young Link*

Team Metroid
Samus
Zero Suit Samus

Team DK
Donkey Kong
Diddy & Dixie

Team Kirby
Kirby
Meta Knight

Team Star Fox
Fox
Falco*

Team Pokemon
Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Mewtwo
Pichu*

Team Fire Emblem
Ike(Marth)
Eliwood(Roy)

Other Characters
Ness [Earthbound]
Captain Falcon [F-Zero]
Ice Climber [Do I really need to say it?]
Pit [Kid Icarus]
Balloon Fighter [...]
Lip [Panel De Pon]
Hakkun [Sutte Hakkun]
Imajin [Doki Doki Panic]
Olimar [Pikmin]
Mr.Game&Watch [*Yawns*]
Captain N [You should know who he is by now.]

Third Party Characters(I do not endorse this section. It's only a prediction.)
Solid Snake
Sonic
Bonk

A * indicates a clone. This is exactly 40 characters. If we're lucky, those last two spots will be filled by other Nintendo characters instead of Sonic and Bonk.

I always thought it'd be a neat idea if there were some way for Ganondorf to become Ganon, as well as other characters getting really super-duper powers. I suppose now if they have these 'brawl balls' that give Mario the super Fire balls, and Kirby the Chef copy ability, then it could happen.

Maybe Ganondorf's Braw Ball power will be to transform into Ganon.  Not sure what Pikachu's will be 'cause it can already execute (imo) the ultimate electric attack known in the Pokemon realm by doing the down+B.

"Brawl Ball," that's a good name...
I think Ganon should be Ganondorf's Giga version. It would be awesome, even if you couldn't play as him (although there must be an item to turn your character Giga for a short time).

For my list above, I'd like to point out that if Balloon
Fighter, Lip, Hakkun, Imajin, Olimar and Captain N don't make it in(and I'm sure they won't, especially CN), then I'd want Ridley, Wolf, King DeDeDe, Jeff, Poo and Black Shadow in their place.

I would personally like to see Chuck Norris in the game. Ha ha, Jk. He would be so over-powered anyway. Any button you press or any direction you tilt the wiimote would make him do a roundhouse kick that instantly sends your opponent flying off the screen. ;D

But seriously, I wouldn't mind seeing characters from the Advance Wars Series. They have Fire Emblem Characters, so why not Advance Wars? I bet Andy would be a really good player. I can think of lots of attacks for him.

While we're at it with 3rd party characters, the thing that would make me happy for the rest of my life in terms of games, would be for Nintendo to get permission from Rare to stick Banjo and Kazooie in there.

That would be nice, but I highly doubt that we happen, since Microsoft owns Rare. There is already a ban on any Rare games that don't star Donkey kong on the Wii's Virtual Consle, so this makes the chances of Banjo and Kazooie's appearence in the game little-none.

Anyway, here are some other characters I would like if they appeared in the game:

Diddy Kong- Come on, he desearves it the most (well, along with Wario at least). Now that he's 100% owned by Nintendo, there is no excuse not to have him in the game.

Dixie Kong- If they have her in the game aswell, I'd rather have her as a seperate character than teamed up with Diddy, mainly because I wasn't exactly a huge fan of the Ice Climbers.

Sonic the Hedgehog- They might as well have him in the game, since he's more suiting for than Solid Snake.

Punch-Out!! Characters- Have Little Mac in the game. Have Soda Popinski. Have Bald Bull. Heck, even Glass Joe, Gabby Jay or Doc Louis (who isn't even a boxer). It doesn't matter what character you have in the game, just put any of them in.

Son Goku- Okay, so this is extremely unlikely, but Nintendo did publish Jump Superstars in Japan.

MissingNo.- Face it, Nintendo: MissingNo. is a Pokemon and you know it. Again, this would be highly unlikely, but come on, who wouldn't want to play as MissingNo.?

Wind Waker Link- I know WW wasn't exactly a huge fan favorite among Zelda fans, but despite what I've said before I started to have my own opinion, I did like it. I think WW Link would make a good substitute for Young Link for several reasons.

Also, here are some new stages I'd like to have:

PokeFloats 2- This time, with more Pokemon and such, but hopefully, little to no Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon.

Glitch City/MissingNo.'s Lair- As the name says, it would be based off of Glitch City, but would actually be MissingNo.'s home. Sometimes, things would go wrong, such as characters transforming into other characters, and such, but it would not effect MissingNo.

World Video Boxing Association Arena- Like it says, the boxing arena from Punch-Out!!. It could have alot of crazy things happening, like random boxers coming in to constantly punch at you and your opponent, as well as the ***** stole my, er, I mean the song that plays when Little Mac is jogging while Doc Louis is riding a bike while passing the Statue of Liberty.

Kastle Krush- As Mr. Wiggles had suggested, the castle from DKC2 in which the floor keeps going up. To make it even more challenging, you have to dodge all of the Kremlings that come through. Basically, it would be like the Ice Cliber level in Melee, but better.

Greenhill Zone- Obviously, the first stage from the first Sonic the Hedgehog game. The main obsticle in this stage is trying to dodge Dr. Eggman's attacks, which range from missle to a wrecking ball.

I'll think of more later.

I most want the following:
- Olimar - Attacks with an army of Pikmin
- Bonk - Headbutt of course
- R.O.B. - Stack colored rings around opponent
- Mega Man - Maybe he could steal Dr. Willey's robot powers
- PacMan - Eat opponent after consuming a power pellet

Yeah, I doubt Banjo would make it, but still, a guy can dream...

...speaking of dreams, I actually had a dream last night that involved Brawl. I was out in my yard with some friend of mine for some reason, and there was this huge flyer there, listing all the ideas Nintendo was considering for the game. I remember it was mostly stupid things like minor enemies, I can't remember which (coincidentally no Banjo, heh heh), plus other stuff like items, and the only thing I really remember vividly from it was a stage modeled around Tetris. it was a flat stage with no pits, similar to Flat Zone, however, Tetris pieces fell from the sky.

Looking back on that dream, that sounds like a really good idea.

This sounds a little fishy to me, however, after following a link trail from the Kirby Rainbow Resort site, I found a supposed list of characters that developers expressed interest in, for Brawl, that was taken from the Japanese site. Now, either it's a very good hoax, or just a bad translation of the page. (I think it could also be somewhat true since the person who posted it actually gave a direct link to the Japanese forums on the official Smash Bros. site) I quoted the guy directly, so anyway, here's what he said...

"Megaman
Claus (MOTHER 3)
Lucas (MOTHER 3)
King K. Rool (DK Country)
King Dedede (Kirby)
Geno (SMB RPG)
Professor Kawasima (Prof. Kawashima's Brain Training: How old is your Brain?)
Kalas (Baten Katos)
Cheer Squad (? Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan ?)(If Sakurai accepts them, then Nintendo of America will make them change the Cheer Squad into the Elite Beat Agents)
Doctor Pepper (? General Pepper from Star Fox?)
Sigurd (Fire Emblem)
Black Shadow (F-Zero)
Takao (female character, 8 years old?)
Dragon Chan (Super Punch-Out!!!)
G-Red (Gotchaforce)
Hammer Bros.
Oguma (Fire Emblem)
Lip (Panel de Pon)
Black Knight (Fire Emblem) "

Now see, a lot of those look really bizarre, and I won't say whether I think the guy is lying or not, because I don't know. All I know is that it's something.

I have my doubts about that list, Forest Guy. Geno will most very likely not be in SSBB as he belongs to Square. 'Twould be awesome to fight as him, though. More Fire Emblem characters are very probable, but Lip... I don't think so. Only time will tell.

Seems fake to me. I know Toad for a fact is one of the most wanted characters to be included in Brawl and yet he's nowhere on that list. Diidy Kong, although not as highly wanted, also ranked pretty high in a poll. Sigurd and Oguma are...old. I also question why Krystal didn't make the list at all. Or Sonic and Tails for that matter.

There's a rumor floating around that Sakurai confirmed that Bowser Jr and Ridley will appear, Ice Climbers and Mr.G&W will be removed and Young Link will be changed to his Wind Waker look.
A few sites stated it as fact, but I don't beleive it..........

Punch-Out!! Characters- Have Little Mac in the game. Have Soda Popinski. Have Bald Bull. Heck, even Glass Joe, Gabby Jay or Doc Louis (who isn't even a boxer). It doesn't matter what character you have in the game, just put any of them in
I can't really picture Little Mac in SSB. All he does is just punch. What would his specials be?

Anyways, I would like to see Pikachu with boxing gloves, Jigglypuff with her "Marker-Phone," and the Mario Bros. with their Hand Power.

How 'bout these characters:
Tanooki Mario!  His special moves include turning to stone (similar to Kirby's down-B move, except this one is temporarily impervious), performing a continuous tail spin (instead of Mario tornado), tail-whipping a koopa shell, and flying to the top of the screen to slam down on another character.  Tanooki Mario would rock.

This would be a cool character lineup (in my opinion) to have in SSBB:
--Kirby.  I hope they keep Kirby.  He's excellent for copying powers.
--Meta Knight.  It's about time there's another character from a Kirby game.
--Samus Aran.  She's just cool.  Her games are amazing.
--Zero Suit Samus.  HOT!
--Solid Snake.  It'll be very interesting to see a normal human go flying off the screen...
--Wario.  Another Mario brother/person.
--Waluigi.  If you're gonna have Wario, why not include Waluigi?
--Pit.  Because Kid Icarus is an amazing platformer.
--Mario, Dr. Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi.
--Marth and Roy.
--Tanooki Mario.
--Zelda/Shiek, Link, Young Link, Ganondorf.
--Mr. Game&Watch
I don't really like Fox or Falco.  Or Ice Climbers or Captain Falcon, for that matter.  The Pokemon are okay, I guess...but they are not very interesting characters.  I like my Tanooki Mario idea, though.

One character addition would make the game put me in a state of total bliss: Waluigi.  ;D I won't go into detail about the abilities he could have in the game that I've thought of, but one of the things that comes to my attention is that those long legs have got to put him at an advantage when it comes to kicking and jumping. Besides, despite many arguments against it, the guy needs more recegnition. Y'know, Luigi started out as just a sidekick and he made it big; why can't Waluigi, his rival, do the same?
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

Waluigi doesn't have a major Mario title to his name. You can tell the character lineup is based on this because Wario in in his WarioWare threads.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

I've been thinking of another group of characters...it seems that nobody wants to get rid of any characters that are already in the series.  I'll list a character lineup that I think would be cool.  First is their name, next is their B move, smash-B, up-B, and Down-B moves.  Here's what I was thinking:
Chef Mario--B: Cookie Shot.  Smash B: Cookie Sheet.  Up B: Fiery Jump.  Down B: Stack Attack.

Tanooki Mario--B: Shell Shot.  Smash B: Tail Spin.  Up B: Take Flight.  Down B: Stone.

Waluigi--B: Blue Fireball.  Smash B: Tennis Racket.  Up B: Spring Jump.  Down B: Roulette Hammer.

Daisy--B: Bad Golfing.  Smash B: Daisy Bomber.  Up B: Daisy Parasol.  Down B: Character Swap.

Birdo--B: Egg Shot.  Smash B: Return to Sender.  Up B: Upward Propel.  Down B: Birdo Fireball.

Baby Bowser--B: Podoboo.  Smash B: Spiny Shell.  Up B: Ghost Boost.  Down B: Quake.

Ridley--B: Firestrike.  Smash B: Missile Rain.  Up B: Glide.  Down B: 5 Stabs.

Skull Kid--B: Dart.  Smash B: Combo.  Up B: Disappear.  Down B: Saria's Song.

Anyway...in case anyone's wondering...Chef Mario is from Yoshi's Cookie.  About Chef Mario...he is the slowest of the four Marios.  He also has weak attacks.  And has the lowest jump.  HOWEVER...his "Stack Attack" move is very unique.  You start by pressing Down B, and a random button will appear on-screen.  You press that button on your controller, and 2-3 cookies drop in front of you on your opponent, stacking up.  Another button will flash on-screen, and you press it on your controller.  Then, more cookies stack up on the enemy.  The buttons appear faster and faster, so it takes skill to master Stack Attack.  The more cookies you stack, the more damage you do, and the longer the enemy will stay stunned.

I didn't intend for there to be a Mario bias...I have never played an Ice Climber game.  And making another F-Zero character besides Captain Falcon would make his special moves seem stale.  And...don't we have enough Pokemon characters?  I've also never played Earthbound, so I wouldn't have a clue beyond Ness.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

My personal Picks for new characters would be:
Waluigi- He'll be included just because Wario got in on the action.
Daisy- Probably a clone of Peach, a minor secret char. like luigi.
Olimar- B-move similar to peachs turnip move, but adds pikmin to a group following him, his moves would use up these following pikmin.
Geno- My favorite from SMRPG.  Nintendo and Square are on good terms as Nintendo signed a deal that allows Square to produce GB games.  The two recent FF games for the nintendo systems are a result.  I suppose another deal could be struck.

I could also see some characters becoming "costumes" of other characters.
Link: Young Link, Cel-da Link.
Peach: Daisy
Mario: Dr. Mario
Yoshi: Birdo (maybe)
This would allow similar characters to make it into the game without the fuss of their own character slots.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

And...don't we have enough Pokemon characters?
True, true... but why have more than one incarnation of Mario when...
Mario: Dr. Mario
This idea is ingenious. Why make character clones when you could just have different costumes have moves identical in damage, range, quickness, and all that but different in display? Pichu could stay if he were just a different costume of Pikachu with the same moves and power. But just wasting space on the player select screen for clones? Ick. The tail spin could fit in place of Mario's cape.
Skull Kid: A definite yes.

Alright... Post One!

I'd like to see Jeff, Paula, Poo, Captain Strong (SUMTFMA!!!!*), Mr. T and a Starman (Premiering in MOTHER) from MOTHER 2/ EarthBound.

Lucas w/ Boney(A boy and his dog), Duster (A thief with a bad leg who fights by kicking), Kumatora(Psychokinetic Princess), Flint (Think Chuck Norris armed with a 2x4), Salsa (A monkey. Cutest thing EVER.) and The Masked Cyborg (MYSTEEEERIOUS!) from MOTHER 3.

For stages, Magicant, Zombie-style Threed, Burglin Park, Stonehenge Base, Winters, and Saturn Valley would be nice representatives for MOTHER 2. For MOTHER 3, however, there can only be (SPOILER!!!) City.

If all this is there, then OH. MY. PORK. PUUURE LOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!!

Post by: The Chef on June 14, 2006, 02:38:34 PM
Afetr much thought, I decided that only characters I'd really expect to see are:

1-Ridley
2-Wolf
3-Samurai Goroh
4-Balloon Fighter
5-Mach Rider

Why, you ask? I'll tell you why.

1. 2. 3. These guys appeared in the intro to Melee. I had a friend who thought Ridley was playable.

4.5. Their theme songs were in Melee. Balloon Fighter was also a candidate for the character to represent the Famicom, second to the Ice Climbers, who won.

Added to the original 26 (I was wrong before, Shiek counts as a separate character) along with the 5 confirmed characters, we get 31. Add to that the characters I listed above and the total comes to 36. I expect to see 38-40 characters in the final game depending on whether or not more 3rd party characters are added.

For the other four characters, I'd like to see Toad, Diddy and Dixie as a team, and if 3rd parties are considered Sonic and Bonk. If the thing about removing characters is true (as sad as I am about it) I beleive the most likely to get removed are Doc(Too many Mario characters) Pichu(We need a Ruby/Sapphire representative)and Roy(he was only added to advertise for Fire Emblem 6).
I think Falco and Ganondorf should be kept because they were planned to be in the game from the start, but were made into clones to save time and Young Link can be changed to look like his Wind Waker self. That leaves 35(or 37 if you count the 3rd party ones) characters. The last 3 could be Lip, King DeDeDe and Wynaut/Plusle and Minun/Muchlax.It should also be noted that originally Jigglypuff was to be taken out, but remained due to an outcry of Japanese Pokefans and Marth was supposed to be Sigurd, but Sakurai was told to add Roy(for the reason previously stated in this post) and Marth to represent the beggining of the FE series. It should also be noted that Sakurai considered changing Ness to a character from Mother 3, but the game had been canceled at the time.

My Final List

Mario
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Bowser
Yoshi
Toad
Wario

DK
Donkey Kong
Diddy+Dixie

Zelda
Link
Zelda
Sheik(she counts)
Ganondorf
Young Link(Cel-da)

Metroid
Samus
ZS Samus
Ridley

Kirby
Kirby
Metaknight
King DeDeDe

Star Fox
Fox
Falco
Wolf

Pokemon
Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Mewtwo
Wynaut(or Plusle+Minun or Muchlax)

F-zero
Captain Falcon
Samurai Goroh

Other
Ness (maybe changed to Lucas)
Marth (likely changed to Sigurd)
Ice Cilmber
Mr. Game+Watch
Pit
Balloon Fighter
Mach Rider
Lip
Solid Snake
Sonic the Hedgehog
Bonk

Mario-7
DK-2
Zelda-5
Metroid-3
Kirby-3
Star Fox-3
Pokemon-4
F-zero-2
Other-9(or 11 if you count Sonic and Bonk)
Total- 38(or 40 if you count Sonic and Bonk)

I believe that Mewtwo should be excluded as a character and instead be one of the pokemon that come out of the pokeball. That's the only way they can fairly portray Mewtwo as the "world's strongest pokemon".

As for who I'd like to be a character, I nominate the following:

Koopa Kid
A weaker but faster version of Bowser.

Paper Mario
He can twirl, he can bash, he can stomp, and most importantly, he can fold. It makes even more sense because it's a Wii game. One of his special moves can be Art Attack, during which you use a crystal star to draw circles around your opponents in order to deal damage.

I can't think of anything else that hasn't already been named.

I think the only other Mario character worthy of SSB-dom is Toad. He's been around since the beginning and has been in almost every major Mario game to date. Moves would't be problem because we have SMB2 and Wario's Woods for reference.

Oh well. It was worth at least a suggestion. Let me try again.

Bomberman
He is followed by an animal. When you push a combination of buttons, you get on the animal and thus have another set of moves (with the option of getting off the animal, of course).

and maybe they can get that Perfect Dark chick person...maybe?

If you want a good moveset for B-man, take a look at the link I posted on the previous page. As for Miss Dark, she can't be in the game because Rare is stuck with Microsoft. Yes, I know Snake has been confirmed but I already stated that he's only there due to Kojima asking a favor.

Squirtle
B+Up: Skull Bash (sorta like Teleport)
B: Bubblebeam
B+Forward: Tackle
B+Down: Surf (a tidal wave rushes onto the screen, and hits downwards, takes a while to use)

Charmander
B+Up: dunno
B: Flamethrower
B+Forward: Fire Spin (charges forward, covered in flame)
B+Down: Slash (a downwards swipe)

Bulbasaur
B+Up: Vine Whip
B: Stun Spore (immbolises the opponent)
B+Forward: Razor Leaf
B+Down: Solar Energy (Pressing B launches Solar Beam)

Meowth
B+Up: Pay Day (jumps, and coins strike everyone around)
B: Faint Attack (disappears, then reappears somewhere else, determined by controls)
B+Forward: Fury Swipes (does damage, immobilises opponent)
B+Down: Slash

More to come.

Highly unlikely, and may never happen, but would still pwn
Chuck Norris
Mr. T
Captain Lou Albano (He'd make an interesting addition, seeing as he played Mario for the SMBSS)
Missingno.  (I know Nintendo frowns upon glitches, but come on!  Missingno. has made a name for itself just by giving trainers nigh infinite stock of 6th slot items)
Darth Vader (Quit denying it.  Vader's presence would pwn)
Captain N
Luke Skywalker ("Luke, I am your father.")
Joanna Dark (Sadly, it'll never happen since Rare's with Microsoft now)
Conker

Has better chance than above list; very popular, but chances range from unlikely to almost likely
Fawful (He'd be the mustard to the sandwhich that is SSBB!  If he does not appear in SSBB, I'll have disappointment)
Geno (Another very popular Mario RPG character, but Square will have to give Ninty permission first)
Vaati (His TMC form would make a great addition to the Zelda Team)
Bomberman
Waluigi (As pointed out, if Wario's in it, why not have Waluigi?)
Baby Mario/Baby Luigi (Like the Ice Climbers, they'd be two characters controlled by one player)
Tails (If Sonic makes it in, why not add Tails?
Wolf (Add more Star Fox characters)
Krystal
Pac Man (Wacka Wacka Wacka)
Megaman
Raichu

Pretty likely
Toad ('Nuf said)
Sonic (Who wouldn't want to finally see a true Mario vs. Sonic match?  Due to the popular demand, Sonic will be in the bag once Sega gives permission)

Drop out
Pichu (I don't like Pichu as a smasher because his electric attack hurt himself, and Pikachu is light and quick enough.  Have Pichu be replaced by Raichu, who'd be a slower, heaver, more powerful Pikachu.)

Masahiro Sakurai isn't just letting anyone into his SSB Tournament, ya know. Why do ya think Wario is dressed in his WarioWare garb and Zero Suit Samus of all people is playable?

I think we'll see the rest of the Ware Ware crew as trophies, but not as fighters.  The series hasn't gained that much steam yet.  And yeah, I agree, classic Wario needs to be an alternate costume for biker Wario.

But wouldn't it be odd to to see classic Wario using the er, execessive moves that WarioWare Wario would ordinarily use?

Well, they're both Wario, so I don't see why not.  Wario is seen picking his nose and scratching his butt in official non-Wario Ware art, and even in non-Wario Ware games.

They should at least give Wario his Wario-Man form to fight in and give him garlic-based attacks. When he jumps, he should fly low like Peach hovering, only lower and like a real caped superhero should (Mario with cape-ablility excluded).

I have no idea what kind of Wario Ware specific moves he could possibly have, I just know that he'll have his arm attack from the Wario Land series, because there's absolutly no way he would make the game without it, but have no idea how Wario Ware Wario has different moves at all.

The shoulder charge really DOES have to be one of Wario's moves, but it may not be a special attack, it could just be his running smash attack.  I'd love to see them incorporate some of the caps from Wario Land 1/VB.

Personally, I kinda hope they don't make the mistake of going overboard and suddenly putting Wart in everything possible. Really, he was a good boss. He needs appreciation. But let's hope he doesn't suddenly get the sort of appreciation Petey's been getting. Petey was cool ... then they overused him.

Although, I wouldn't mind if they put in Wart if it's instead of putting in Toad. Then it'd be A-OK! Of course, if they put in Wart and don't put in Waluigi, I'd be very bitter. For lack of better wording.

EDIT: Hey! I just had a cool idea! They should put in Mouser! ... Or at least a Mouser trophy.

Yeah, but if there are two more spot available, Sonic will most likely take one of those spots, but the question is who would be in the third and final spot (if there's gonna be a third spot)?  It could be Mega Man, Bomberman, or even Geno (who's rights, for some reason, hasn't been bought by Nintendo from Square yet, even though Geno is a Mario character.  Although I think I heard a rumor that Nintendo may be buying the rights to the SMRPG chracters someday).

You know the answer to that question. The most likely third-party character to be put in SSBB would be Sonic. And think of it like this: That awesome trailer couldn't POSSIBLY have shown all the characters. The ones that were shown must all be there when you buy the game (not unlockable, just there). Luigi will most likely be unlockable again, if not in the starting roster. Bowser will make a comeback for sure. But look, if you made them trailer you'd probably think "Okay. We'll show only one third-party character to keep it short, and to show  other third-party characters could also be in it. The rest will be a surprise." So, don't be down-hearted when you get the game and Sonic's not in the intro... he might be unlockable.

I think all the third-party characters that Nintendo chooses to participate in SSBB will be unlockable.  They put Solid Snake in the trailer to give us the big news of third-party smashers.

-Indiana Jones. (It would ROCK, but since this is a movie character, I doubt he'll be in)
-Dave Miller or Bernard Bernoulli. (From Maniac Mansion on the NES)

King Hippo
Mr. Dream
R.O.B. (once again, not really)
Bomberman
Birdo
Pac-Man
Diddy Kong

Ah, Bomberman is a little more likely. I actually don't want to see any more Mario characters added other than Wario (and Fawful, please...) and the SSBM Mario characters (except Dr. Mario). There are just too many. Toad and Daisy are going a little too far, huh? Bowser Jr., Kamek, Birdo, Diddy Kong and Foreman Spike, don't even get me started. The more useless characters there are, the longer it'll take to complete the game. R.O.B. is more than likely going to be an item or hazard in a Nintendo hardware-themed stage...
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: The Chef on July 19, 2006, 03:13:32 PM
Toad and Diddy are far from useless, BP. Diddy didn't even get a trophy in the previous Smashfest. I think that he should fight with Dixie as a team, similar to Ice Climbers. Perhaps that would make him a little less "useless" than you seem to put it. As for Toad, he's been there since the beginning. He's also got plenty of moveset inspiration (Play SMB2 and Wario's Woods).
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

We already know Wario's gonna be added, so the only other Mario characters that I wanna see added are Fawful and the Baby Mario Bros.

I think Yoshi should have an alternate color and outfit that makes him look like Boshi.  You know, like how Peach had the alternate color scheme that made her look like Daisy, and one of Mario's alternate color schemes gave him Wario clothes.

I'm not a huge Smash Bros. fan and didn't read this entire thread so forgive my ideas if they are repeats or would not work well.

I'd like to see a totally customizable character.  Meaning, the player could determine the characters sex, name, size, shape, attacks, defense, etc.  Could even have a map of a real persons face and body shape.

I'd also like to see customized charcters imported from other games.  Imagine your Animal Crossing character fighting in Smash Bros.  Or Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus, or Snake coming to visit your Animal Crossing town or playing Wii Sports Tennis with or against you.

Also, what if you only had access to certain abilities or weapons after obtaining them in other games.  Link's attacks could be based on what sword or other weapons/equipment he obtained in TLoZ.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

We already know Wario's gonna be added, so the only other Mario characters that I wanna see added are Fawful and the Baby Mario Bros.

I can't express any oppinion about Fawful, since I haven't played any game he's in yet. (I know. It's a shame.) However ... the Baby Mario Bros. ?! I know some people really like them and all, but what would their attacks be? Sure, there could be some usage of a Super Star and Baby Mario (Like in Yoshi's Island), but besides that, I can't think of any moves for them.

As usual, I'm dragging in my oppinion on putting Waluigi in the game. This time, I've thought up possibilities for some of the moves in his move set:

Special Attacks

B: Pirahna Plant Seed (This one is kind of bizzare. Simply put, he throws down a pirahna plant seed, which grows in moments and creates an obstacle for a short period of time.)
Up and B: Waluigi Tornado (For lack of a better name. I'm talking about something similar to in Mario Power Tennis, when he does his offensive power shot.)
Left/Right and B: Bob-bomb toss
Down and B: ???? (Still haven't thought of one for this)

Regular Attacks

A: Rapid Kick (Repeatedly press A)
Up and A: High Kick
Left/Right and A: Double-fist punch (Uses both arms, one after the other, to punch in the indicated direction)
Down and A: Sliding kick

And for the sake of entertainment ...
Taunt: A certain 'bold victory dance', seen only in Super Mario Strikers. Bwahahaaa. (Note: This is a joke ... sorta ...)

So there you have it. Some ideas on why he could make a killer character. To balance out my post, however, I gotta say that if I'd vote for any characters NOT to make a second appearance, it would be Pichu, Mewtwo,  and Ice Climbers. I feel like there were more, but I honestly can't remember them at the moment.

You obviously haven't played M&L:Partners in Time.  They have some cool moves that could be incorperated into SSBB.  And they had hammers!  The Baby Mario Bros. would fight together like the Ice Climbers.

attacks.
up+B: Baby Spin (Babies' third jump.  Much similar to Baby Spin on PiT, only with their hammers, and can be executed without the help of thier older counterparts.  Opponents will get wacked by the hammers if they get too close)
B: Spit (just like in PiT, Baby Luigi bonks Baby Mario with the hammer.  Baby Mario will spit out a projectile mistle of spit and water)
< or > + B: Diaper Throw (The babies throw their dirty diapers at opponents.

I think that the Mario characters we already have are enough, honestly.  I loved the idea of Toad for a while, but then Peach's Toad move simply wouldn't be the same.
I said this a while back:

Here's hoping for Mona and her pizza delivering action.

It was meant as a joke, but now I'm thinking that it might not be such a bad idea.  They're introducing Wario Ware into Super Smash Brothers with Wario, so why not just one other Wario Ware character?  You know, to balance it out a little.  Technically, Mona's not a "Mario" character.
Plus, since she's so unique, I can only imagine the fun and interesting moves she'd possess.

Moves that the hero from Quest for Glory could have:
B: Charges sword to attack.
B+Forward: Throws a dagger at the enemy.
B+Up: Levitation Spell.
B+Down: Thermonuclear Spell. (Nukes everyone in the stage)

Ok, ok, you've slightly eased my doubts. And no, I haven't played either of the M&L games, sadly enough. So, even though I still won't support them being in the game, I won't support them not being in the game, either, seeing as you've made a good point there. Of course, my oppinion on the subject really doesn't matter that much anywho.

I think that even though there are a lot of Mario characters people want in the game, it would be OK to add in a few more without ruining it. The franchise just has a lot of characters that have distinct personalities that earn them fandom from different sorts of gamers. Now, personally, I can vouch for my support of adding another few Mario characters simply because alot of them are able to transfer well to the game. That isn't to say that other characters from other games aren't transferable, I simply just can't judge on that since I haven't played as many different Nintendo game series. Being an RPG fanatic, I tend to get at least about half of my gaming experience from Playstation games, which obviously can't be in SSB:B. I think that as long as they don't put in any more 'clone' characters, it'll be A-OK!

What a nonsensical post.

Acctually, I seperated those sections out for a reason. I'm a fan of games such as Legend of Mana, Chrono Cross, and Legend of Dragoon when it comes to RPGs - and yes, I know that the M&L series is an RPG series, but I really don't have much of a desire to go out and purchase it yet.

You're missing out on some great characters, humor, story, etc.  Seriously, Fawful's character is genious.  I'm not trying to force you into trying M&L: Superstar Saga, but if you like Mario games, then it's one I'd reccommend.

They are in order from most wanted to least.

1.Bomberman
2.Sonic
3.Magus
4.Geno
5.Glenn(Frog)
6.Crono
7.Spyro
8.Crash(maybe)
9.Rayman

Out of all the ones on that list, Dark_Shark, I'd say the two most likely ones to officilly get added are Sonic and Bomberman. Why Bomberman? Well, the TurboGrafix16 is part of the Virtual Console and this:http://www.hudson.co.jp/gamenavi/gamedb/softinfo/wfight/index.html. Solid Snake was also in there.

Those are not 4-player Melees. They're just 3-on-3 fighting arcades(and an RPG). I want a 4-player all out SSB/Jump Superstars-like fight game with pure Capcom. All of Capcom's franchises come together and duke it out(Ryu vs Morrigan vs Mega vs Joe) with weapons/items/power-ups/hazards.

How about the main hero from Secret of Mana?  Though Nintendo would need permission, since it's a SquareSoft game, it would be pretty cool.  Plus, there would be a lot the companies could choose from for his attacks.  Here's what I could come up with.

B-Sword of Mana: Basic sword attack, kinda like Marth/Roy, can be charged, but maybe faster.
Smash B-Whip: longer range, moderate strength attack, which knocks the enemy away.
Down B-Blaze Wall: It's one of the girls magic attacks, it engulfs the enemy/enemies in flame, kinda like Lip's Stick in Melee, though it would last a little longer.  To make it fair, you'd have to face an enemy to make it work.
Up B-Flammie Drum: Dragon quickly flies up, you hang on for a second to boost yourself up, and Flammie hurts all Enemies it touches.

He could use his weapons for the A attacks as well, like forward smash could use the Glove attack, down smash has the Sprite spin low with the Axe, and Up smash could use the Lance/spear.

He would be best as a middle wieght, I think, with average speed, maybe a little faster.

Personally, I don't want too many third person.  I'm not a huge fan of the Metel Gear franchise, but Snake is fine in the game.  Maybe Sonic, too, but other than that, I want some major Nintendo characters to have the spotlight.

You gotta add Dark Samus to SSBB. There is a lack of certain characters in certain catergories (like Metroid, Earthbound, F-Zero, etc).

Also add in some other Poke'mon to the fun, along with a New F-Zero Character.

Dark S. could be unlockable and be Samus' "Clone" Character.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: Suffix on May 10, 2007, 11:28:52 PM
Samus already has two "appearances" in Brawl (although they are not two characters available on the menu), and Dark Samus is not Samus-- it's Metroid Prime. Off the top of my head, I can only remember two major bosses that are playable in Melee: Ganondorf and Bowser. Anyway, Metroid Prime (AKA Dark Samus) is not recognizable enough to be a playable character.

1000$ that there won't be an animal crossing character.

I think they are replacing Roy with Ike, and leaving Marth in.
Marth is stronger than Roy in almost every way. Roy(Roy god[darn]it!) has a few attacks with fire that are stronger than Marth's  but overall Marth is stronger, and better in pretty much everyway. And All the characters aren't going to be completely revamped. I think it's going to be closer to the Smash to Smash Melee transition.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

The chance for an AC character is high because in both Smash Bros and Melee all stages based from a game or series always have a character from that game playable. Since the AC town is a stage there should be an AC character playable. Plus, both the stage and the Pitfall item have a distinctive leaf-shaped symbol, only used for the corresponding character(s), which are usually playable.

I know, I know. It just doesn't seem like something Sora would do... I'm still 100% towards an AC character not being in. It's not plausible to me. I'm guessing there will be quite a bit of AC in the game in terms of items and Assist Trophies though.

It seems as though I differ in opinion with just about everyone here in that I don't want to see Sonic in a Super Smash Brothers game.  :(
It just wouldn't feel right to me.
If Mario and Sonic are as rigorous a pair of arch rivals as everyone claims them to be, then I think that adding Sonic to the character roster would almost taint the game.  This is one of Nintendo's finest works, here (based on what its predecessors were)!  And I'm sure there are plenty other first-party characters who could suitably substitute the blue hedgehog.
I see tossing Sonic into the brawl as something of a mockery to what Nintendo has built up over the years.
However, this is simply opinion, and I won't feel any inexhaustible angst if Sonic is, in fact, in the game (or in future Smash Bros. games to come).

A giant enemy crab.
In seriousness, I'll be happy as long as Yoshi, Ness, and Pichu return. I hope they don't make too many changes to Ness... I may "pick up" a new character or two, Wario, perhaps.
There are sure to be at least a couple playable Hoenn Pokémon. I personally think Combusken is cooler-looking than Blaziken and would prefer it, because Combusken looks like a deadly fighting chicken (which amuses me) while Blaziken looks like nothing I've ever seen before.
Don't care whether Sonic is in it or not. If he is, he's there, whatever. I haven't played any Sonic games and couldn't use him anyway (Something, if I haven't even played their game I feel like it's not my place to play as the character.). If he isn't, oh well, whatever.

It's never stopped them before. The majority of first party GBA games were all practically remakes and ports, with a little originality sprinkled about it's life span.

Oh yeah, and as much as I enjoy the uniqueness of slave master Pokemon Trainer, I'm still waiting for confirmation of those from the old roster, and my three top wants, or at least one of them.

Allowing downloadable content, while it may seem nice at first, means that the developers can rush the game out the door without adequate design or testing. The patches that would result from this would take up valuable space on your Wii. I also think that the number of characters, stages, and items produced would eventually dilute the quality of Brawl.

I disagree with you all. Kojima stated a while back when he played Brawl that it could ship at that moment and be an awesome game (maybe there's a lot of long, boring cutscenes or something?) and you know Nintendo of all companies wouldn't ship out a crap job on their number one best-selling console game. Patches would let them tweak characters that get deemed low-tier and so forth. People wouldn't still be playing competitive StarCraft ten years after release if Blizzard hadn't done balance tweaks for all those years.

The only argument I agree with is how small the Wii's memory is. If they ever let you actually run stuff straight off an SD card, problem solved. If not, maybe just have one downloadable character and/or map after like a year, just as a special bonus to those who are online (and they can design the character to counter overused strats if any develop in the interim).

Screw offline whiners. People like them slow us down from the awesome future technology that awaits us all. Screw them and their Luddite ways.

Pit was only in two games, yet here he is again, nearly 20 years after his last game, and they made him a playable character. As for characters who don't have a lot of powers, that's just silly. Before the SSB series, Capt. Falcon was just a racecar driver. I'm sure that if someone had suggested him before the first SSB game, people would have repsonded with "What would he do? Run over people in his car?"

If they can come up with moves for characters that have never been fighters, they can come up with moves for characters that haven't had a lot of screen time (ie: Pit, Toad, etc..)

Sheik was only in Ocarina of Time, and only as an NPC that didn't really fight, even once. Voila, now we have a ninja. Ness was a one-timer as well (he needs character page on Dojo, stat). Dr. Mario, anyone? And Roy hadn't been in ANY games when Melee was released.
I can't say I can picture Toad as a fighter, though. If he makes it, most of his attacks will probably involve his immense head...

If Toad becomes playable, what will Peach's shield be?
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

OMG! Here we go again!! I'd swear I hear this same arguement at least 20 times per day.. -_-;;

Moves can be changed around. Link's B became his Forward B, Ness's B became his Forward B. Peach's B move could be replaced with either another character (generic Toad, Toadette, Toadsworth, Perry) or just changed all-together (it's not that great a move, anyway).

HOW is it outside the realm of possibility that Toad could be playable and Peach use a generic Toad as her B move?! HOW?!

On the topic of Character suggestions, it'd be neat to see Princess Rosetta ending up with a Cameo to launch her introduction into the Marioverse.
Or at least a Super Mario Galaxy battle stage.

Sadly, that does look like Kinopio (or THE Toad). I am hoping that just because a Reatiner is being used as her B move does not mean that Toad will not be playable. Just like someone said in another topic: it made even less sense in the last game for Doc and Mario to appear together, so why not Toad when he's being used as a sheild too..?

You're right, though, BirdPerson: You never know.

I think they're wasting Toad's talents having him only being a shield. I think Ninji would be an awesome character to have playable, and I wish Crono and Rock/Mega Man belonged to Nintendo, so they could be playable also.

Man, I LOVE Ninji! They're some of the coolest enemies ever. But honestly, nobody's about to believe that normal enemies will be playable in such a big mix up. Main protagonists and main antagonists, that's it.

But a Ninji Assist Trophy would be great.

They should make a SSB game where you could play as all the small characters/enemies, like Ninji, Toad, Koopa, Boshi, Goomba, ShyGuy, Spiny, etc.

Well we do have another Third-Party character. However it is only an Assist Trophy. It is Dr. Wright from Sim City. Though I may be wrong in thinking he's third-party (I think Sim City is an EA game, but maybe not that far back)

Also, for some reason, as an Assist Trophy they have the Devil from the NES Devil World, WHICH WASN'T EVEN RELEASED IN THE US! If they have a character from a game not even released in the US and no more third-party characters, I'm gonna be mad.

What the heck spam, they had Fire Emblem characters when there was no Fire Emblem too. It's not like they're making it primarily for America or something. Sim City is not an EA game, it's a Maxis game, and when it was published by Nintendo it was pretty Nintendoey.

-Starfy is the star (lol) of a series on GBA. They sort of resemble Kirby, but are actually quite unique in that every level is mostly submerged. You could call it an aquatic platformer.

-Demille is the hero of Tomato Adventure, a wacky GBA RPG made from the folks who brought us Mario & Luigi.

-Sukapon is an adorable robot from an old Famicom game called Joy Mecha Fight. It's a crazy fighing game that might've predated SSB by 20 years.

-Takamaru is a samurai warrior from Murasame's Castle, a Famicom adventure cast in the mold of the original Zelda.

-Hakkun is from Sutte Hakkun, a game for the SNES Satellite in which you have to paint blocks to make them solid and get around the various puzzling levels.

-Flint is a character from Mother 3. He's the father of Lucas and is a cowboy who uses big pieces of wood to fight.

It looks doubtful. Also II...Piantissimo (I don't know how to spell it) would be awesome. I don't know what kind of attacks he'd have, tho.

Obviously, he is a fan of II Piantissimo and thinks it would be cool if he were in Brawl.

I can say the same thing about Waluigi. It'd be awesome if Waluigi was in Brawl (my opinion), but I don't know what kind of attacks he'd have either.

Example: We're not sure of Mario's capabilities in this new game, but we still think it's awesome that he's participating.

I have no doubt at this point that an Animal Crossing character will definitely be in Brawl. The Pitfall and Smashville stages have a the leaf as the symbol, instead of the Smash emblem. And the Assist Trophy Dr. Wright has a Smash emblem, but Knuckle Joe has Kirby's symbol. That means while Sim City has no characters that will be playable (hence the Smash emblem for Dr. Wright), but Knuckle Joe has a different symbol because he's from a game in which a related character is playable (Kirby). None of the characters with Smash Emblems in Melee were ever playable through legal means. Therefore an Animal Crossing character will be playable since the compatible item and stage have an unique symbol other than the Smash emblem.

One thing I'm really enthralled about is this new adventure mode. Seeing the movie of Pit in today's update, imagine what it'll be like for all (if not most) of the other characters!

What would be an interesting Assist Trophy is the Mii. The Mii whips out the Wii Remote and causes a cursor to appear on the screen, which grabs onto players by their heads and dangles them in the air, making them sitting ducks.

I know the idea of costumes has been thrown around a lot, but I'm going to mention it again and make a list of characters that could have costumes and what they'd be for characters that are either already confirmed or should be.

MARIO
Dr. Mario (slower, but heavier and more powerful; Megavitamin replaces Fireball)
Baby Mario (much faster, but also lighter and a bit weaker; can float down using Cape after Up+B)
Paper Mario (lighter and slower, but with more useful moves and more powerful; can glide with Up+B as paper plane)

LINK
Young Link (see SSBM, assuming he's not going to return)
Shadow Link (same stats, but would still make a cool costume)
WW Link (assuming WW Link's not in the game... can't think of any non-visual differences as I've never played WW)

PIKACHU
Pichu (see SSBM)
Raichu (slower, but heavier and more powerful; Zap Cannon for a Smash B, but make it like Samus' Charge Shot)
Whatever the Pikachu-ripoff from D/P is (never played Pokemon D/P either)

FOX
Wolf (I seriously hope he gets put in the game... if not, make him a slower and more powerful Fox)
James (I have no idea for James' stats... perhaps faster but weaker?)

SAMUS
Dark Samus (never played a Metroid game apart from First Hunt ._.)

BOWSER
Bowser Jr. (faster, less powerful, paintbrush for Smash B and Shell Toss for B)

DONKEY KONG
DK Jr. (um... I really have no clue on this one)

YOSHI
Birdo (less speed & jump, more power & weight, Egg Spit for B, Up+B move w/ bigger height gain)

PEACH
Daisy (faster, less powerful, change Toad in B move to heart)
Pauline (same speed, less powerful special, more powerful physical, worse jump)
Rosetta (no idea)

WARIO
Classic Wario (change Wario Chopper to whatever the Charge is from WL4, no idea what else)

POKEMON TRAINER
Girl from FR/LG (visual change)
Rival/Gary (visual change)
Ash (getting a bit iffy... but still, visual change)

LUCAS
Ness (I really hope he's in Brawl... if not...)

SONIC (assuming none of these characters are in Brawl)
Shadow (oh come on, what else did you expect? Same speed, more powerful, lighter.)
Knuckles (slower, worse jump, slightly better special, WAY more powerful)

(subject to change)

Those are practically separate characters. The point of costumes being costumes is make the character look different without changing anything else about them. This is SSB, not Soul Calibur.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: BP on October 15, 2007, 05:13:13 PM
Alternate costumes are just what it says. No changes in physics should be made. Some costumes I've been thinking...
-Mr. L for Luigi.
-Exact colors of Mario for Luigi and vice versa.
-Boshi for Yoshi, anybody? An allusion won't hurt anybody...
-Wario's plain clothes for Wario (so that n00bs who have never played WarioWare don't complain).
-Until gliding was introduced, I thought that Red could have Gold as an alternate with the corresponding Pokémon from Generation II, and it might work as long as Squirtle stayed out of his shell. So much for my ideas.
-Dr. Mario for Mario might work if they do something about FLUDD. Formaldehyde, perhaps?
-Pirate Captain Falcon (http://wheresdezzer.googlepages.com/piratefalcon.JPG) for Captain Falcon
-Last but not least, every character MUST have a tuxedo as an alternate. Yes, EVERYONE. Samus could have one over AND under her Power Suit, even! Don't question me, they could get one onto Kirby and Meta Knight somehow. You can't deny how good a formal Brawl would be.

I can see Pokemon Trainer's alts being Green (The rival) and Blue (The girl). They're all from Kanto, so why not. I just wish we had equal representation for every Pokemon generation.

Dr. Mario will also more than likely be one of Mario's alts, especially since Shadow Link is now Link's alts and Pichu's blue googles set was given to Pikachu.

Samus could probably have her Fusion suit and possibly her PED suit. [We don't need much more than that, Mr. Wiggles.]

LINK
Young Link (see SSBM, assuming he's not going to return)
Shadow Link (same stats, but would still make a cool costume)
WW Link (assuming WW Link's not in the game... can't think of any non-visual differences as I've never played WW)

What about Goron Link and Zora Link? They would be awesome.

Instead of a Paper Mario costume, I'd rather have a Paper Mario stage that turns all the characters on it into paper versions, like how the Game & Watch stage flattened everyone. It would take a bit more work, but it would be totally worth it to see, for example, Paper Sonic, Paper Snake, and Paper Ganondorf.

Olimar? How could you fight other famous characters when you're merely a few centimeters tall?

But then, everybody's got their own entrances. Perhaps somehow his entrance would involve growing hundreds of times his size.

I just realized that all the characters from Super Smash Bros. have been revealed and profiled on SSB Dojo--except for those you had to unlock. The same could be said for Melee's characters, except for Ness and Captain Falcon (they were unlockable in SSB, so both the statement "none of the unlockable characters from SSB" and the statement "all the characters available from the start in Melee" cannot be true simultaneously). I wonder if this is of any significance... maybe Ness and Captain Falcon will go back to being secret characters, and all the secret people from Melee will be there too?

Yeah, though I believe that clones aren't all bad. I would rather have the clones' moves changed than have the characters removed completely, if changes with them had to be made. Luigi was much less a Mario clone in Melee than in Smash, anyhow.

How can you be so sure? Mr. Saturn appears in Super Smash Bros., and he was from Earthbound. By the way, clones weren't used in fighting games to allow people to use precise movesets. They were created so people could use the same character in games that did not allow people to pick the same fighter.

It's about time they used the Fire colors! I hope this means Luigi gets his Fire outfit, as well as other outfits for both Bros (Hammer Bro, Tanooki, and Frog from SMB3, though that would probably mean too many cameos from one series, wouldn't it..?)

Since all the old Smash Bros Melee character lists are now plausible, I could name off pretty much anyone and they'd have a chance of making it in. Either as a playable character or assist trophy. They better have like 400 regular trophies in the game though, they've got a bazillion other things in there already, shouldn't skimp on a favorite pasttime of obsessive Melee players.

Actually, I'm half-expecting Krystal as an Assist Trophy. I don't know what she'd do, but the Star Fox representation in the game can't stop at Fox and Falco (and considering their appearance was mucked up for Assault and Command, I'd like to see one team member who looks normal). Maybe Wolf o' Donnell, though again I wouldn't want to see the Assault version of him.

I do expect to see Tails as a playable character though. Can't have Sonic without Tails. Or Robotnik for that matter, which was made plausible after seeing the behemoth King Dedede become a playable character (which I think is awesome, never would have expected him, although his hammer better do major damage). And you know, Tails can fly.

As for Mario characters, we already have most of them. ...hey, how about the Koopa Kids as trophies? Way better than Bowser Jr.

Or Flammie from Secret of Mana. The most unlikely choice of all, but I would freak out in joy if he appeared. Secret of Mana was like Chrono Trigger's little brother.

Regarding Ness possibly not making it into Brawl, the fact that Lucas appeared at all drives me batty in two ways. First, having Ness in Smash Bros. was what made me consider playing EarthBound in the first place. So what if they wanted Lucas in the original game, Ness was the man. Told me that Nintendo acknowledged the existence of EarthBound. Now Lucas is here, who few people will know. If people get to like Lucas, wouldn't that signal more people wanting Mother 3 over here? Having Marth and Roy in Melee did eventually trigger some Fire Emblem games in America. Sin & Punishment EVENTUALLY got released in America, on the Virtual Console (speaking of which, it's high time for Star Fox 2 to appear. It was basically finished after all).

Come on Nintendo, give us Mother 3. If not, then give us Ness back. Hey, you're putting the Snowman song into the game (which I misinterpreted as Winters), just go the whole mile and represent EarthBound more.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

Krystal: I think there was something about her voice actress accidentally revealing a role in Brawl.

Wolf: Isn't he an alt for Fox?

Dedede's size: He's like, two feet tall in the Kirby games.

Mario: Wario was the last guy we needed (http://wheresdezzer.googlepages.com/luigibrawl.jpg). No more necessary.

Ness: Nothing points to his removal. Sakurai has used "until now" for two things still in Brawl (standard attacks and combos, and handicaps, don't say anything about handicaps being changed because he used the phrase for their existence in general), he poured the emphasis on how different his "replacement" is when they're not so different, really, and APE, Inc.'s copyright is still there. Don't worry. I'm sure he's still about. In fact I'd love to see Ninten, but it'd take a lot to make him look different enough from Ness to not confuse people... Go striped shirts!

Lucas: He'll be in my army after I play Mother 3, for sure (despite his not-as-cool-as-Nessness. He'd better not steal Ness's victory music, though.

Mother 3: I'm betting it gets a VC release.

The Snowman music: It's in every Mother game, in the eponymous town, in Jeff's boarding school, and some time in Mother 3.

Here's a few ideas:

1.Spongebob: could catch people in bubbles and hit them while they're in there

2.Crash Bandicoot: could use spinning move to make enemies dizzy so he can hit them with a charged smash attack

3.Sora: use his ice, fire, thunder, heal, magnet, and for his final smash....................SUMMON

4.Naruto :his cloning powers, throw knives, and telaprt

5.Shy Guy for an Assist Trophy: hit people with his propelor and run people over in a kart

6.Balloon Fighter: he could hover and his balloon could turn into weapons like a medevil flale and stuff

7.One of the Elebits: turn into an elactric elabit and drain enemy power to use for himself

8.Dewey: could zap with lightning dewey and freeze with ice dewey and whatever he wants with normal dewey

9.Ballyhoo from Mario Party 8:use the star rod for rock, water, ice, flame, dark, light, and ggrass powers

10.Your Mii with just simple attacks:just kicks, headbutts, and punches because they wouldn't be able to have special moves and make every mii compatable with them

11. Sly Cooper: cane attacks, exelent balance(won't easily fall off ledges), and can get more coins during coin mode

I know we can't have all of these but I hope they choose 1 or a few of these.

I live in the United States and my latest game was Super Mario Galaxy. It's called google searching. And here is the list of characters: Mario,DK,Link,Samus,Kirby,Fox,Pikachu,Marth,Mr. Game & Watch,Luigi,Diddy Kong,Zelda/Shiek,Pit,Meta Knight,Falco,Ike,Snake,Peach,Yoshi,Ganondorf,Pokemon Trainer,Peach,Yoshi,Ice Climbers,King DeDeDe,Krystal,Lucario,Ness,Sonic,Bowser,Wario,Toon Link,R.O.B. (ingame name:Robot),Captain Olimar & Pikmin,Captain Falcon,Jigglypuff,Lucas.

Those of you who do not belive me, I have a source where I got this list of characters. Here is the site:http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml It is a Pokemon website, but Pokemon are in Brawl. If you check it at a later date, choose January 2007, and it will say Wednesday:Brawl Stuff.

You forgot Ness (check todays update)

You can all stop calling him Robot. The name in Japan is The Famicom Robot instead of R.O.B., thus the shortening. The name is going to be localized for the English release.

Considering the fact that this game has already been released (and sold over a million copies) in Japan, chances are Nintendo isn't taking any more character suggesstions...

For the NEXT Smash Bros. game, however...

Megaman (Classic or X; please no "Battle Network" version!)
Tails
Knuckles

Shadow (come on, Shadow is the coolest new Sonic character since Knuckles)
Revolver Ocelot (from MGS)
cybernetic Raiden (from MGS4)
Dante (from Devil May Cry)
Vergil or Nero (from Devil May Cry)
Tingle?

Baby Mario and Baby Luigi
Bring Mewtwo back
Alternate Doctor lab coat for Mario (They let us choose between Wario's Biker outfit and his original attire, why couldn't Mario have his doctor lab coat as an alt costume, and sort of bring the Doc back?)
Knuckles for Assist Trophy
Megaman or Bomberman (but not both)
Samurai Goroh for playable character
More Metroid characters
Fawful for Assist Trophy
Sonic needs to be voiced by either Jaleel White or Ryan Drummond

imo, all of the supposed shoo-ins for this game will be in the next one. Here's my list of proposed newcomers:

Krystal (Star Fox)
Claus (Mother 3)
More Fire Emblem characters
Bowser Jr. (Mario)
K. Rool (DK)
Knuckles (Sonic)
Megaman (Megaman)
Samurai Goroh (F-Zero)
Black Shadow (F-Zero)
Ridley (Metroid)
Dixie Kong (DK, may as well)
Geno (Mario)
Waluigi (Mario)
Isaac (Golden Sun)
Someone from Animal Crossing
Captain N (as a WTD character)

King K. Rool (How does Kirby end up with 3 reps while Diddy is our only new DK character?)

Krystal (Because Fox clones suck)

Lyn (Assist Trophy is a complete slap to the face. Besides, even if the GBA Fire Emblem's aren't popular in Japan, the game she originates from did get a lot of attention in North America and Europe, and that's enough popularity to warrant an inclusion)

Dixie Kong (She was almost in Brawl)

Samurai Goroh or Black Shadow. Actually, any new F-Zero character would be welcomed, just because the series as a whole is overlooked.

An Advance Wars CO. Possibly Andy or Brenner.

The Power Glove.

I think putting in the Power Glove is a good idea, but perhaps not as a character; I could see it as one of four things:

1. Item that gives some new attack or boosts power
2. Assist Trophy
3. Power-up to Master/Crazy Hand :D
4. Weapon to Captain N? (if he gets in)

More Metroid characters
Like who? The only other Metroid "characters" I can even think of are either giant bosses or the one-shot other hunters from MPH and MP3, who definitely aren't worth wasting a roster spot on.

I suppose a shrunk-down Ridley would be the only barely okay choice.

Geno is not suited for Smash Bros, okay?  Out of the entire library of Mario games, He played a role in only one game and made a cameo in another.
I would like to see Krystal as a playable character in the installment after Brawl (as I said, IF a fourth Smash Bros. is made). All three Star Fox characters in the Brawl roster having basically the same move set is a slap in the face of the Star Fox franchise.

Ridley: I'm with LD: Samus works alone and Ridley is the only worthy enemy from Metroid. For now, Ridley is a boss.
Animal Crosser: Yes
Dropped Melee characters: Download please
Geno: I picture him more like a territorial, grumpy Gandhi than a fierce, aggressive warrior. No.
Krystal: Of all the Star Fox characters, I must say she's the one that gives me the creeps most.
Waluigi: No no no no no no no no no no no no.
Dixie: Partially programmed in Brawl, who knows
Bowser Jr.: No
Tingle: Get serious
Petey Piranha: ...
Baby Mario Bros./Plusle & Minun/Burt & Ernie: Do you really want them?

Conclusion: Sakurai has nearly perfected the roster, as very few characters left to be suggested are any good.

Geno is not suited for Smash Bros, okay?  Out of the entire library of Mario games, He played a role in only one game and made a cameo in another.

It'd be purely fan-service, and that's what the fans are relying on; the fact that Sakurai listens to his fans, even if it's only a little bit. I personally would like him in the next Smash, but that's just my opinion. (And the opinion of many others, but let's just leave that issue alone)

All three Star Fox characters in the Brawl roster having basically the same move set

Wolf is not a clone. His B moves and Final Smash are based off Fox (the B moves barely so, like how Ike's are based slightly on Marth's), but most, if not all, of his A moves, are different. I do agree he should've had a better Final Smash (perhaps even summon SF64 Andross?) but apart from that he's a perfectly legitimate character.

I say that there are no clones in Brawl. Luigified characters is what we have. I love how all the folks on Starmen.net were so certain that Ness was out because Lucas stole his moveset, and now, after the fact, Lucas is entirely different (No, really, he is). Based on what I've seen, Link and Toon Link are the closest to being clones.

Yeah, a lot of his moves seem to be completely different from Ness's. His special moves all have different kinds of.... way they attack. His recovery shield thing can be used only on one side but can be used as a weapon. The yo yo moves are gone so his smash attacks have much more knockback and power than Ness's. And he is faster than Ness but weaker.

And I would have to say that Ganondorf and Falcon are the most alike. they could have improved Ganondorf in so many ways like by using his sword or his dark magic. But Instead he is still a clone. People are even saying he has gotten SLOWER than he was in Melee! I'd say he is one of the worst characters in the series. He can stay locked for all I care.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: Lizard Dude on February 26, 2008, 08:48:40 PM
I dunno, man. In Melee, I virtually never used Ganondorf because, yes, he was just a giant slow Cpt. Falcon w/ special added "please punch me in the groin" maneuver.

But in Brawl, the changes to his side-B find me picking him a lot on the coolness of those moves alone. Plus his taunts are rad as always.

I don't get why people have a problem with or are surprised with the fact that Mario and Luigi are psuedo clones of each other. They are brothers! They are related, they are going to have some similar moves.
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

Nurse Joy with a Machete

Phoenix Wright gets attacked all the time and he doesn't object. Glares, whips, scalding coffee-- I don't recall a single case where he was able to have such attacks overruled.

He definitely wasn't able to overrule the damage a fire extinguisher to the head caused, although he eventually got over it.

His Final Smash would be awesome: Nightmare Judge.

My wanted list was fairly unrealistic:

Jeff
Combusken, who is at least one thousand times as cool as Lucario

Captain Jim's list was so much cooler. I mean, Nurse Joy with a machete? Best character idea ever.

I don't really have any character suggestions of my own, but I would've liked to see something related to Meteos other than one of the fighting alloys being a recolored Geolyte. An item consisting of Meteos that would align and blast off when they hit the ground or an opponent after being thrown or a Metamo Ark AT would've been pretty sweet.

Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions
Post by: BP on February 28, 2008, 10:56:13 PM
So do I, but unless we get downloadable characters it's not happening... Mewtwo WAS partially programmed, so I'd say that if characters can be downloaded later on, he has even chances. Roy, Dr. Mario, Dixie Kong, Toon Zelda/Sheik, and "Pra & Mai" had partial programming as well... "Pra & Mai" supposedly means "Plusle & Minun." ._.

Anyhow, as interested as I am to see what Toon Sheik would look like, I hope if Toon Zelda ever does come to Super Smash Bros. she transforms into Tetra instead. Then there could be an epic battle between the ninja-like (emphasis on "like," as Sheik does many things that ninjas do not do, such as associate with good people), Sheik and the pirate, Tetra.

Mewtwo and Roy were further along in programming than the others; they even had victory themes and Classic mode images. If anyone'll be a DLC, it'll be those two.

Toon Sheik just doesn't make sense, Tetra would have made it instead. A Young N64 Zelda with a new Young Sheik would have made better sense if you ask me. So yeah, YOUNG ZELDA FOR THE NEXT SMASH!

Other suggestions for Smash 4:
Megaman (classic)
Cloud Strife (this would allow Nintendo to add elements from SMRPG as well)
Bomberman
Dixie Kong (they better give her a real voice instead of monkey screams)
King K. Rool (with Gangplank Galleon as his stage)
Eliwood (FE6 version, if Roy is gonna make it, too)
Ninten (from the first Mother)
Pokémon Trainer ♀ (Pokémon Fire/Leaf, with Bulbasaur, Charmeleon and Blastoise)
Brendan (Pokémon RSE, with Mudkip, Grovyle and Blaziken)
May (Pokémon RSE, with Treecko, Combusken and Swampert)
Meowth (Final Smash: Meowth's Party)
Paper Mario (Final Smash: Mega Mario)
Impa (N64, why want a standalone Sheik when you can have HER?)
Young Zelda (Young Link needs a partner, not only older Link)
Wart (Super Mario USA)

Costumes:
Peach: Sports, Strikers, Ponytail
Mario: Classic 1985, Strikers, Dr. Mario
Pokémon Trainer ♂: Game Boy, Ash Ketchum
Sonic: Classic 1991
Brendan: Emerald
May: Emerald
Young Link: Toon Link (they should have made that from the start)
Link: N64 or TP
Ganondorf: N64 or TP (it also applies to his Final Smash)

Stages:
Airship/Comet Observatory (Super Mario Galaxy)
Bowser's Castle (Super Mario RPG)
Peach Circuit (Mario Kart 64)
Rainbow Road 64 (Mario Kart 64/F-Zero X)
Famicom/NES (Similar to Wario Ware, but you play through many 8-bit classics)
Yoshi's Safari (Similar to the racing stages)
Flipside Tower (Super Paper Mario)
Bowser's Battlefield (Paper Mario)
Glitzville (Paper Mario RPG)
Mushroom Castle (Mario & Luigi RPG 2)
Yoshi Topsy Turvy (a tilting stage)
Ganon's Tower (Ocarina of Time, the tower collapses as you fight)
Gangplank Galleon (it navigates between DK Island and Crocodile Isle)
Subcon (Super Mario USA, it should also use sounds from Doki Doki Panic)

Who knows, maybe Nintendo is going to move to Bluray for the next system in a few years.

Because using a rival company's format makes sense?
Title: Re: Super Smash Bros. Character Suggestions

Looking at above post from Agu Fungus...

Bomberman
Considering how close this was, maybe.

Cloud Strife (this would allow Nintendo to add elements from SMRPG as well)
I don't know about Cloud, and I wouldn't say it'd open up the floodgate for SMRPG. Any other Square character would work just as well, like Chrono from Chrono Trigger. Only thing I'm worried about with Cloud is that his huge sword would be too much of an advantage. But then, seeing how huge King Dedede is, it might work after all. And they can make it so that any character accidentally touching Cloud's spikes-for-hair gets damaged.

Dixie Kong (they better give her a real voice instead of monkey screams)
She has great gliding potential, and I always liked her over Diddy (no big surprise since I'm male). I agree though, no monkey screams. They had voices (sort of) in the DKC series.

King K. Rool (with Gangplank Galleon as his stage)
A no-brainer. King Dedede got in, so King K. Rool seems like an easy shoe-in. Gangplank Galleon from DKC1 would be interesting for a stage as long as you periodically had to dodge cannonballs falling from the sky.

Meowth (Final Smash: Meowth's Party)
Although I'm getting tired of the countless Pokemon appearing in the series, Meowth always seemed to stand out a bit from the hundreds of Pokemon. He reminds me of the psycho rabbit from Sam & Max though.

Wart (Super Mario USA)
Maybe. If nothing else, we could have a battle against Bowser and Wart.

And Geno, because of all the rumors that he was going to appear in Brawl.

Stages:

Peach Circuit (Mario Kart 64)

I assume that's like Royal Raceway. If so, yes. It'd be pretty much a clone of one of the F-Zero moving-platforms stages though.

Yoshi's Safari (Similar to the racing stages)

If I liked that game, I might agree with you more. As it is, I still have bad memories of getting obliterated by Spinies or moles or whatever.

Maybe Spiral Mountain from Banjo-Kazooie. I know, never gonna happen in a million years.

Or a Bubble Bobble stage. Certain areas of the level are nearly inaccessible, and you have to wait for bubbles from Bub and Bob (wandering about on ground level) in order to get to those areas.

Until I get Brawl and try out Mushroomy Kingdom for myself, I still think it's a cool idea to go through actual levels from games (it's like Melee's Adventure Mode or Brawl's Subspace Emissary but as multiplayer). Metroid probably wouldn't work. Maybe a level from Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World... oh, or a level from SMW2: Yoshi's Island.

Why do people want to see Cloud freaking Strife in it?  As far as I know, he has never appeared on a Nintendo console EVER.  A Chocobo has better odds of getting into Smash than Cloud.

As far as I know, he has never appeared on a Nintendo console EVER.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. However, as I said in that SMRPG sequel thread, that shouldn't be enough to get him in a Mario game - or in a Smash Bros. game.

I'm not even sure he appeared in that GBA game.

...Wikipedia makes no mention of him.

^ Wikipedia doesn't make mention of a lot of things.

Toon Sheik just doesn't make sense, Tetra would have made it instead.
Especially since Toon Sheik has never existed, would have no reason to exist (or even realistically exist therein), and no "new" characters have ever been fighters in Smash Bros.

The Sheik in Brawl does not exist outside of it, either. And, one could say that R.O.B. is a Subspace Emissary character. Heck, you could say that Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Lucario are specifically Smash characters--they're no specific beings, so... And Mr. Game & Watch is sort of a compilation of all Game & Watch characters bound up into one man.

Let's not forget Giga Bowser.

Really, SSB has had original characters since the beginning, it's not far fetched to expect them, Still, I don't advocate them.

I have always wanted Paper Mario in smash. i mean come on! It would be awesome! I already have a movelist for him.

B move: Hammer Throw: would go straight. You could charge it up for more damage.

Side B move: That move from the first game..... where you spin around.... what do you call it? Well anyway every now and then It can dizzy your opponents if you make contact with them.

Up B move: Airplane Flight, Paper Mario folds up into a plane a soars the sky for a bit!

Down B move: Boomer. PM places Boomer on the floor and waits for him to explode.

It would be very fun to put in elements form all games into his moveset. Like his Down smash can be a Quake Hammer move. Or his down smash in the air can be a ground pound. his final smash could be Him grabbing a Mega Star and turning into that pixelated Giant Mario! He would be faster, a higher jumper, lighter, and slightly weaker version of Mario. Lol I think i went to far with this but who agrees?

The only thing wrong with your idea was saying "lol."

I could definitely imagine a Paper Mario if Game & Watch and Dr. Mario have been or are characters.

What I would like to see is a set of characters that are deliberately better than all of the others, and can be used for epic fights (banned in tournaments, though). Giga Bowser, Master Hand, Ridley, Taboo... matching three normal characters against Ridley to take him down would be incredible, plus people would have no reason to whine that Ridley isn't playable and they'd have no reason to whine that he's downsized/underpowered.

Here'd be my list of 'uber' characters:

Master Hand
Crazy Hand (slight clone to Master Hand)
Giga Bowser (clone of Bowser)
Ridley
Taboo (if he's in the next Smash)
Ganon
Mewtwo (make him far more powerful than in Melee and he could pwn)
Andross (meh I'm running out of ideas)
Dr. Robotnik

Possibly more; may seem like a stupid idea, but it would make for some very interesting bouts...

Unfortunately, if Robotnik ever got in, they would give him his Eggman name.  I know Eggman is his original name, but it just doesn't deliver the same threat levels as Robotnik

I decided to post my completed move set for Pokey Minch, as he appears here-
(https://themushroomkingdom.net/board/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstarmen.net%2Fmother2%2Fimages%2Fgame%2Fhapokey.png&hash=f6983c750c3cfee9d0474c1cff1cc4e2)

If I forgot anything, please tell me. Also, huge block of text warning.

A- Kick, Kick, Short burst of laser
Forward A- Mech legs kick forward on one side
Up A- Fires robotic claw upward and swipes the air a few times
Down A- Legs on one side stick out in a trip maneuver
Dash Attack- Rocket-boosted TACKLE
Standard Smash- Legs on one side stab out
Down Smash- Mech lays down with legs extended and spins like a buzz-saw
Up Smash- Sprays a cloud of gas upward
B- Laser Beam (Fires a large red beam from the eye of the mech. Chargable.)
Side B- Noxious Gas (Stuns enemies)
Up B- Tele-Pork (Warps through a vortex. Has pretty good distance, because Pokey’s jumps are terrible)
Down B- Earthquake (Rapidly stamps legs into ground)
Grabs- Robotic Claw on extendable arm
Grab Attack- Sprays of Gas
Forward Throw- Arm swings behind Mech, then snaps forward
Backward Throw- Arm swings behind and releases
Up Throw- Launches enemy up and fires Laser
Down Throw- Slams enemy into ground and fires laser
Neutral Aerial- Spins with legs extended
Up Aerial- Robot Claw shoots upward
Down Aerial- Legs come to a point and stab down
Forward Aerial- Mech Spins forward
Backward Aerial- Legs kick backwards
Taunt 1- Opens glass and shouts shouts “LOSERS!”
Taunt 2- A flag comes out that says “Pokey Rocks” and confetti sprays
Taunt 3- Mech turns towards screen, glass dome opens up, and Pokey stands and says “Come and get me, LOSER! Spankety spankety spankety!”

Final Smash- Devil’s Machine ( The Devil’s Machine appears, and Pokey presses a button in the mech, exploding the Devil’s machine. The entire background turns into Giygas, and everyone starts taking three percent damage every second. Also, if you press the A button, Giygas may throw out an “incomprehensible” attack, which can have the effects of a fully charged PK Flash or Freeze) This final smash is unavoidable.

He is, but in a different mech (I'd say one from Mother 3). I'd call him too big for a playable character, but it looks like you've done a good job capturing his possible moves. One thing, though...  how big would he be in comparison to say, Mario? Or Bowser?

Why is Captain Falcon even in Smash Bros.? He doesn't have a starring role in any game (except if you count F-Zero, but that's a racing game!).

I guess he's the mascot. He's also my role model. Yes, I go around saying "Show me your moves!" and "Falcon...PAUNCHHHHHHH!" all day long, with the occasional Falcon Kick.

Why the heck shouldn't he be in Smash Bros.? He's been a pretty well established character even since the original F-Zero. If we follow Mario Maniac, Fox (the best character) shouldn't have been in either.
