Uh.. Hi? I voted for avatars though a new board would be nice too.

But if you had avatars it would be so slow.

 Quality threads and posts.

It seems most every thread has been "Pointless ....", and "Random ....". The posts are even worse, what with the few potentially interesting threads that do spring up are brought down by pointless, and seemingly random comments and images.

I'm not certain if Black Mage or Lizard Dude wins this thread.

But seriously, guys, every single thread on GC is "Meaningless forum game!" or "Who's the best member with a Q in their username?" or "Disrespect Continuity Here!" ... you all get the point. I mean, one or two games is fine, but I think now it has almost gotten to the point were a "forum games" sub-forum is necessary. There's a somewhat disturbing increase in "one-line" posts, also. I'm not helping this trend recently, but the way things are going, it'd appear that I am finding less and less to comment on.

That's all. As it stands, quality wins, but perhaps a new sub-forum for games and the like are in order if trends continue.

Actually, maybe these forum games should be a part of Story Boards or something. Or put in SB and the board be renamed "Game/Story Boards" or something.

A suggestion I made a couple days ago was that we have a "General Video Game Chat," since a LOT of threads are made regarding those. GC could be non-Mario, non-video game stuff....that doesn't fit in the other forums, either, of course.

We still have Sapph as you can see, that means nothings missing. (Without Sapph things would get a bit boring.)

Well since people are begging for quality, you could delete 2 of my topic games. Just leave the vending Machine and That's it. I would delete it myself, but I can't due to an accident months ago. It seems like it's "my" fault that GC is now filled with pointlessness.

We don't delete topics just because they're "bad" of have been done before; if anything, topics are closed or merged. Deleting is only for threads that post porn or something else really horrible. Oh, or if someone "double posts" a thread, then then double is deleted.

In other words, think before you make a topic. It'll be there forever. ;)

Wow, so profound.

A word followed by that word and nothing else is honestly is the most peeving phrase ever. It's rude and unnerving enough to say that with a reason, but with no reason at all it's just plain unintelligent. Even worse it that it's so overused and people deem that alone as worthy enough of a reason or explanation.

And no, I wasn't asking for an elaboration, either.

You know what's missing? More members need to be more active. I literally multi-task on this board and GameSpot's board. When I make 5 posts on GS, I check here and nothing new is posted. It's the same problem with Bird Person's thsndyr board.

There is no lack of members. A couple years ago, the forum was thriving with just a handful of "active members."

The problem, I believe, remains with the quality of threads and topics. You're seeing a decline of posting from other members because there are very few threads worth posting in. You can only post "Receives ....., puts in ....." so many times before it gets tiresome (Once).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to blame anyone, as I haven't exactly made any spectacular topics myself, and I understand some may view some of these "pointless" threads as attempts at drawing in new posts. Perhaps it's the age difference, or maybe it's just me being a stick in the mud, but with so very many mind numbingly simplistic and time wasting threads around, I'm finding myself less and less interested in posting.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm probably just looking at the forum at a different view. I'm actually going to say that most of my topics are pointless and I really wish that I can come up with something more creative. I mean, I'm not even supporting my own topics.

You know, I've always wondered why these forums don't have a dedicated "post your art/literature/music etc." sub-forum.  I think it'd give the creative people on the Fungi Forums a place to showcase their work.

Other than that, I think avatars would be nice.  Then again, avatars and pictures in signatures often make the boards really cluttered and sluggish.. so it isn't too bad, I suppose.

Lumpia's right. A place where we could all post our art and music would be nice. Maybe have like a drawing of the month thread in it. I don't really think much needs to be added but a a drinking fountain. I get kind of thirsty sitting at the computer for so long...

You know, I'm actually think we're missing quantity as well. There are no new posts and I'm just posting in other threads. I would make more topics, but I'm always being "annoying" to other members. The threads are just fine.

I really mean it. I viewed the board index and all of the replies are from me.

We need quantity and quality although I prefer quantity.

We need quantity and quality although I prefer quantity.

That is what is wrong with the FF. Forums aren't meant to be watched for hours at a time, with the watchers wondering why no one is posting. That is a thought process more fit for a chatroom, or maybe a telephone conversation.

So these watchers think that they should maybe get some activity going by making a few posts. They do that and if nothing happens within 15 minutes, this happens:

'Hey, no one is responding to my posts, maybe I should make a few topics that take me 2 seconds to think up'

Thus, with enough people doing this, we get a forum with quite a bit of meaningless posts and topics without thought or inspiration put behind them at all.

MY PROPOSED SOLUTION:

No one responding to what you say? Go do something for awhile and come back later when you have the time. Forums aren't meant to be places where you spend great deals of time, they are public communication boards for large groups of people who aren't on the internet at the same time. If you want to talk to people in a rapid fashion, use AIM. Multiple persons involved? Create a Buddy Chat. It's 100% free. Or, hey, download mIRC and get on #tmk. If you are having troubles doing so, you can PM a Mod and ask for help, so none of you try to play the "I can't get the chat to work" card.

So let's all work together and try real hard!

If you get an itch that you just can't scratch, AIM me at Misterfantastic4 and I'll quench your urge to type words at people (if I'm on).

I spend a lot of time here mostly reading and not posting.

Also, bobman37 started the IRC channel #tmkizzle, and I am almost always there. It is on studio64.yi.org, just like #tmk. I'm the op there (>:D) and I don't mind if you type something just to say someting. Just obey the server rules, and try to be nice.

Dang, I have to be yelled at for having an opinion that's different from the majority?

On about 90% of the forums I've been to, people who try to increase their post counts with short, one-line, often uncontributive (is that a word?) posts are frowned at. Those with lower post counts who are well known for the quality of their posts tend to be highly respected.

Not yelling at you; just stating an observation I've made.
