Title: Noting Nintendo's Many Genres
Post by: coolkid on November 21, 2009, 07:33:18 PM
Let's face it. Nintendo has a game for A LOT of genres, often putting some kind of twist on/reinventing/revolutionizing them. This here is to document all of the represented genres.

Platformer: Mario, Kirby
Adventure: Zelda
Flight Simulation: Pilotwings
Space Shmup/Flight Simulation Hybrid: Star Fox
Non-Space Shmup/Adventure/Platformer Hybrid: Metroid
FPS/Adventure Hybrid: Metroid Prime, Geist
RTS/Sim (Growing) Hybrid: Pikmin
RPG/Sim (Growing) Hyrbid: Pokemon
RPG: Pokemon, Fire Emblem, MOTHER
RPG/Platformer Hybrid: Paper Mario
Racing: F-Zero
Crossover/Fighting/Platformer Hybrid: Super Smash Bros.
Survival Horror: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Sim (Lifestyle): Animal Crossing
Sim (Growing): Nintendogs
Boxing: Punch Out
Miscellaneous Sports: 1080 Snowboarding, Wii Sports
Miscellanea: Wii Music

Anyone else notice how diverse Nintendo is? If I've missed any, then say so.

*Keanu Reeves voice* No. I won't believe it. It's not possible.

But seriously, yeah, I suppose it's pretty cool to see a list of all the genres Nintendo's tackled, but does anybody really doubt their diverse and innovative spirit?

Also, someone please make a game called Sim Growing.

'Kay.

SIM GROWING! Type E and grow the Sim! The objective is to grow the Sim! If you grow the Sim then YOU WIN! But, you have to be the first person to type E. So...

Koopa, are you the only person that honestly gives a crap?
Also, I think I rigged this thing myself. All that can go on the list is some Japanese only exclusives, so I need someone to help me with those.
