"sigh, I suppose some people are just stupid biggots"

Yes, some are. And some people just don't like the color purple as much as other colors.

Yeah, the PS does play CD's...but does anyone actually use it for that? You have to wait through that Sony logo and then go into the CD player before you can listen to anything. I find it much easier to just turn my stereo on and pop a CD in.

No, and it can't play vcd's, cdr's, cdrw's, dvd's, or any other disk that size. Just GameCube games, which is all it needs to play. (Besides, don't you have a stereo or walkman for music CD's?)

Gold _might_ be a color. The colors they've shown so far aren't necessarily final. They might change, they might not.  Hopefully Nintendo will stop trying to market the purple one so much, though. Don't they know the "gray consoles win" rule? :)

No. There will be a hybrid system that will play GameCube games and DVD's, but so far it looks like that version of the system will only be released in Japan.

*coughcoughsputter* You youngins don't know what a Power Pad is? Now I feel old.

The Power Pad was mainly used for World Class Track Meet. You were supposed to run in place to hit the big buttons on the pad, although I've heard people often just got down and used their hands.

Also, the word is "peripheral", and it means the extra devices used on a system.  The NES Zapper and the SNES Multitap are a couple examples.
