For those that do not know, we had our first ultrasound yesterday (Tuesday, January 13). We discovered we were having twins! A boy and a girl.
Up until now, though we've had one girl's name that we like (Madeline) and one boy's name that we.. agreed upon (Benjamin), but now we're kind of stuck. With one of each on the way, we're at a loss: we've only agreed on those two names and had no middle/alternate names done.
That's where you guys can help. We would love some name ideas. May 21 is her due date, but they will likely join us earlier because that's what twins do. They are not identical twins, sadly (or happily, depending on how you look at things..)
So, throw some names at me! :D
-
Kid 1 and Kid 2.
lol but srsly, I think those are great names (Madeline and Benjamin, I mean). Maybe I'll come back later with some actual names once I've had a few Full Throttles.
Actually, Full Throttle would be an awesome name.
-
Before I can make any suggestions, I need the first letter of your last name to know what starting letters to avoid.
-
Oh yeah! Her last name starts with B, and my last name (yes she has taken on my last name) is an R.
As long as name suggestions don't spell anything dirty, it's ok.
Also, we're currently reffereing to them as Thing 1 and Thing 2, and Munchkins. After birth, they are going to come to know exactly what those things are so they will get the joke or jokes.
-
Big Mouth and Kootie Pie.
If that's not doing it for you, then I'll go with Abigail Alynthia and Jordan Cornelius.
If you like cool acronyms, change Alynthia to Isadora and Cornelius to Aaron.
(If you pick any of our suggestions, post pictures of the birth certificates to win an internet)
-
Boy: David Dayton
Girl: Alexis Rey
For serious name suggestions that aren't just for the acronym...well, I don't have any at the moment, actually. Sorry.
-
That's ok. I wanted to name twin girls Claire Annette and Amanda Lynn, but sadly those ideas were shot down by the committee (my lovely wife). XD
I do seriously like the name Amanda though.
-
Girl: Lizard
Boy: Dude
-
Will you be telling them that people on an Internet forum helped decide their names? Anyway, I suggest you name them Daniel and Julia.
-
Matt and Laura
-
I will say that some good friends of mine gave me name suggestions. They don't neccesarily have to know. They'll probably guess when they get older anyway, assuming the internet is still around, you know.
-
Holy carp, Claire Anette and Amanda Lynn are amazing amazing names.
-
Champion and Cleopatra.
-
I really like the name Jenny for a girl. I don't really have a favorite boy name, but name him something a little bit unusual but not too crazy. Having the same name as four other people in your class sucks.
-
I can't believe no one suggested Toadette yet for the girl. Or ShadowBrain for the boy, but I digress. How about, uh, Nathan(iel) and Amanda? I've got plenty more ideas if those don't jive with you.
-
I think Jillian and Christopher are great names. Harry and Alessa work too.
-
I was going to suggest Nathaniel but there was no way I was going to do that without also suggesting Superfly.
This doesn't help for boys' names, but you could name the girl after a precious gem.
-
The only gem name that I think really works, or at least has been commonly used, is Ruby, and that makes me think of old women.
-
Pearl and Amber are pretty common too, and some others could probably work, like Opal or Amethyst or... uh... Jasper.
Flower names, too. I like Aster. I'm suggesting a lot of names starting with A, aren't I?
-
I think Jillian and Christopher are great names.
That's a bit ironic (or coincidental), since my sister Jillian is married to a man named Christopher.
Anyway, I personally like the names Joseph and Vivian.
-
Flower names, too. I like Aster.
Just don't name her Daisy!! But the name Lilly (or Lillian) could work. And for a boy, Nathan.
-
Use something old and Slavic. Or Nordic. Not enough Nordic names around here.
-
Roy and Jackie
-
Jack and Royetta
-
Toad and Toadette.
...okay, no. Disregard that.
-
For the girl, I would suggest Keira, for the boy, Jude. No reason other than that I like the names.
-
I don't think anyone said Amelia yet.
-
Boy name suggestions: Septimus, Julian, Thor, Victor, Dominic, and TEM's suggestion, Champion, is pretty awesome too.
Girl name suggestions: Victoria, Juliet, Elsa, Valencia, Layla, Annabell, Marie.
-
If your last name were June, you could name them April Mae and Augustus Julio.
-
Here's a list of baby names that I recommend NOT using, for they are really tacky:
- Names typically reserved for pets (e.g Star, Duke, Queen, Sunflower)
- Names of places (some celebrity named his kid LONDON, for it was where the kid was conceived, which is as low brow as ever)
- Names that are obviously derived from pop culture figures
- Names that are spelled in "original" ways (Bharbara, Khym)
- Names with spaces or hyphens (maybe not tacky, but it's still annoying)
- Names that are puns or intentionally confuse. (e.g. Tuesday Knight)
-
Tuesday Knight sounds like a pretty rad name to me.
-
When a crib is officially necessary, might I recommend... this?

-
Milton Wedstering?
-
Name them Hurrr and Durrr.
-
Sam and Wham are funny names.
-
Cleopatra.
I was SO gonna name my future daughter that.
-
SAMUEL L. and JACKSON
-
While we're going that route, Walker and Texas Ranger.

-
Phil and Lil.
-
If you're gonna keep the name Benjamin, then the middle name should be Robert. And how about Madeline Grace?
Benjamin Robert and Madeline Grace.
-
I forgot to mention that no matter the first name, the middle initial must be P.
-
Nathan and Alexis, then.
-
How about Toad Jr. and Toadette Jr.?
-
I forgot to mention that no matter the first name, the middle initial must be P.
Chester P. Cobblepot.
-
Boy: Anderson.
Girl: Julianne.
-
Anderson's a last name.
-
Anderson's a last name.

Anderson Hays Cooper.
-
I never really liked the whole "last name as a first name" deal, unless the last name actually is commonly a (variant of a) first name. Middle name, okay, maybe.
I suggest you name them Daniel and Julia.
After Deezer and me? ;)
Maybe this (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=10291.0) topic will give you some ideas, Toad.
Here are some naming tips (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=10291.msg469701#msg469701) of mine.
There are lots of baby names and definitions sites you can easily find online, if you haven't already.
If you use Madeline, I wouldn't give her a middle name starting with an N-sound (the last sound in Madeline) or the letter M (alliteration). Probably something with one syllable – maybe two – would be good. Some suggestions: Ava, Grace, Paige, Rose. Claire, which you mentioned, could also work.
As for Benjamin, similar deal: no starting with N-sound or letter B. I think it could work with 1-2, maybe 3 syllables, depending on the name. jmdblazer's suggestion (Robert) isn't bad. I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head that works, I like, and wouldn't make the name "overly biblical" or something.
Congrats, by the way, Toad!
-
ALERT ALERT
Sapph just posted! 8O
...In all seriousness, I suggest taking the easy way out and naming the boy after yourself, Toad. That's what plan to do. You could also name him after your father or one of your brothers if you have any. As for the girl, I'd let your wife decide on that.
-
Eh, naming your son after yourself is really lame, unimaginative, and somewhat arrogant, in my opinion.
-
Yeah. Toad Jr just doesn't sound so good..
-
Do what Slash did and name him after a word that rhymes with your stage name. Load and Choad work well.
-

My mom opted to name me after my father, so pack it in. ;P
-
After Deezer and me? ;)
Finally!

Oh yeah, Slash did name his son Cash, didn't he?
-
If you use Madeline, I wouldn't give her a middle name starting with an N-sound (the last sound in Madeline) or the letter M (alliteration).
As for Benjamin, similar deal: no starting with N-sound or letter B.
Sapphira is utterly wrong here. Alliteration is highly desirable, cool, sounds good, and very attractive.
-
Jefferson and Madison.
Both middle names Airplane.
-
I am also a fan of alliteration.
-
I like alliteration. Nicky and I haven't really discussed it much..
For the girl, we are really leaning toward the name Sophie Isabella. Nicky wanted to originally name a girl Isabell, but there was something about a recent book series with the main character named that. I kinda like the name Sophie (which Nicky also picked), so we just threw the two names together.
As for the boy, I want to use the name Max, but so far the only decent thing we could think of has been Jonathon Maxwell, which all agree is far too long a name for a small child. I just put that name together one day when trying to think of names, and Nicky liked it (surprise!) She hadn't liked many of my suggestions thus far (no Claire Annette or Amanda Lynn, darn it).
-
I for one would love to be able to go by the name J. Maxwell. Or you could call him Jomax for short. And then if he married Flo Jo, she'd become Flomax.
-
How about Phoenix and Lauren?
-
Pho and Lo?
(That was a bit of a stretch, wasn't it?)
-
Pho Sho.
-
Name the boy Lucas. Thats my suggestion.
-
The name Olivia is pretty decent for a girl. And it has a nice ring to it, in my opinion.
The name Orlando isn't too bad for a boy...maybe.
-
Giuseppe and Orlando!
-
Name both children a gender-neutral name, like Dana or Trac(e)y or Phoenix.
-
And then switch their names every six months.
-
I knew I worded that wrong. I meant giving them both the same gender-neutral name. Your suggestion would effectively do nothing.
-
Mario and Peach. Wait, no, bad idea.
Okay...two names...
How about Jenny for the girl, and Gohan for the boy? Oh darn it! I got one normal name, and one from a cartoon!
I still say Jenny for the girl, how about Joe(y) for the boy?
-
As for the boy, I want to use the name Max
I support this.
-
Boy: Vince
Girl: Valey (rhymes with Haley)
-
I support this.
I had a feeling you would. :)
But seriously, I like the name Max. MaxVance isn't your real name is it? I know you explained the origin of your user name, but I forget.
-
The origin of his username is that he wanted to be Max Vance (which is his real name) when he was naming his DS but it only supports eight characters so he removed the space and used the same name when signing up on stuff.
-
Boy: Max
Girl: Vance
-
Boy: Vince
Girl: Vaughn
-
Wait, so Max Vance is MaxVance's real name? Dude, don't let that name go to waste. Go out and fight some crime, or something.
Name your kids after conquerers and emporers. For the dude, Alexander, Xerxes, or Julius. For the dudette, Cleopatra or Elizabeth Bathory. Just, uh, don't let them take their names literally.
-

Yeah, because then they would become obnoxious and shallow losers that no one would want to be friends with.
Boy: Jacob
Girl: Sadie
-
Sarah and Rex
When they become the dictators of the planet...
Tyrants Sarah and Rex.
-
Ozymandias and Clytemnestra.
-
Huitzilopochtli. Both of them.
-
Benjamin Maxwell and Madeline Isabella are currently our two favorite name combos. I'm not crazy about the name Benjamin, but I can call him Max, and my wife has her Madeline, so we're both relativley happy.
Of course, the names are still subject to change, and we(she) may change our(her) mind(s) again. You never know. :)
-
I like those names, but I imagine Ben to end up as some sort of Artemis Fowl supergenius criminal type and Madline to be...uh...French. But whatever.
-
Ben makes a kid sound younger until he gets to be about thirteen. Then it makes him sound older. But that's just me.
-
Name 'em Stop n' Swap.
-
Today I was in a room and 40% of the people in it were named Ben. Of course, that was just two of the five people.
-
100% of the people in the room I'm in now have the exact same name as me.
I'm so lonely...
-
Name 'em Stop n' Swap.
That'll probably enrage ShadowBrain.
-
No, not really. Now, if you named one "Shadow" and the other "Brian"... *Shakes fist*
