Title: Wii SD card
Post by: Shyguy92 on December 18, 2007, 11:29:17 AM
How do you put mp3's on your SD card? I put it in the slot, and nothing happens.

I want to do this so I can hear my own music in the Photo Channel.

P.S. I have Windows XP.

EDIT: Actually the buzzing starts whenever I open My Computer. My bad.

EDIT: It turned out to be the SD slot in my computer that was causing the problems. Thanks for the help anyway.

An icon for it should appear in My Computer. Simply copy/paste the mp3s there.
You might have to put it in a certain folder on the card for the Wii to see it, though. I don't have a Wii, so I don't know for sure.

Nope, no icon. I haven't used that slot in a while by the way. That might be the problem...

Buzzing? It shouldn't start buzzing.

Funny thing. I just spit my Ice Cream out in laughter when I looked at Chupperson's little remark.

Normally, I think all you gotta do is just take your songs, convert them to MP3 format (if they aren't already), and save 'em under "SD Card", or something. I dunno... why Nintendo didn't use memory cards again is beyond me.

Because it's a much smarter idea to use SD cards. Also, I have never seen anything with the option to "save under SD card." But if Shyguy can't find his card in My Computer, there's something wrong.

What?  Memory cards suck.  You can't easily use them with anything else.  SD cards are great; if only Nintendo would allow unrestricted use.

By the way, if you've upgraded the Photo Channel to 1.1, MP3s won't work at all; you'll have to convert to MP4 AAC.

MP3 < MP4

They upgraded? ...Oh, that's a relief; now I won't have to go through that whole painful conversion process anymore (all my songs are M4As, anyway--obviously)!

OK, Getting Serious,
You've got to have the MP3 files on the card, then put it in your
Wii's SD slot on the front.
Then make sure that you check the Wii Shop Channel that Photo Channel 1.1
has not been downloaded since it can only play aiff files.
If you have it, go to the screen before Wii Settings and choose the one on the left
and go to the Channels tab and delete it.
Go back to the menu and choose the normal Photo channel.
Go to the Slide Show and press A then choose music
and that's it.

I think the issue's kind of dead by now... but I guess it's good to post that for anyone else who wants to know.

Except he didn't even answer the original question.
