Mario Chat / Re: Super Mario Odyssey

Headcanon: Donkey Kong (1981) and Mario Bros. (1983) take place in New Donk City. As mayor, Pauline held Donkey Kong captive in New Donk City Zoo. At some point, Donkey Kong broke out of captivity and turned the tables on Pauline. Mario, boyfriend of Pauline, saved the day. Sometime afterwards, Mario and Pauline had broken up and the sewers were infested by turtles, crabs, and flies. Mario and his brother Luigi, being plumbers, went to work clearing out the sewers, where they found that the creatures were coming from the Mushroom Kingdom. Then Super Mario Bros. 1 happened.
I don't know. I kinda like the real world theory, namely due to Spider-Man's New York. Also, it bring crossover ties to crossover with other Nintendo IP's like Punch-Out.

...Where would Wrecking Crew and Dr. Mario fit into this?

I don’t want Mario Odyssey. I want Mario Illiad. I want war to erupt with airships and navies and tank squadrons, all that cool stuff you saw in Super Mario Brothers 3, all going at it. I want Koopa Kids leading armies, getting their asses kicked, their names taken. I want absolute destruction of the Mushroom worlds as war erupts. You want a different type of Mario game? Mario jumping around New York is stupid. I like Mario surrounded by nasty war. It’s been done before in Mario 3 and the vibe I think is the best that Mario can offer (e.g. the airship levels, world 8 in mario 3). ~Sean Malstrom

So, this is what he truly thinks about the series in his childhood.

Would you want something like that?

I thought you loved Sean Malstrom.
I never once said that.

I said he may have a point on certain stuff and has some actual historical experience on it.

Tough, what he recently said about Breath of the Wild does make him sound petty, whiny, and picky

I apologize for bringing this topic back up. It's just another quote from Malstrom just irks me again.

I would LOVE for Bowser to have a military force at the end of the game. However, Nintendo, is so wimpy that it thinks this might be ‘too scary’. In fact, they won’t even show Bowser “die”. This is why he was ‘dragged out’ at the end of NSMB Wii. No one had any problem with Bowser dying in the Classic Mario games or Donkey Kong falling to his death in… Donkey Kong. Miyamoto needs to realize children are not frail little flowers. In fantasy, it is not that no one dies. It is that the bad guys die and find a way to ‘revive themselves’ for the sequel.

Did he... not pay attention to NSMB1 for the DS? Bowser was reduced to bones! His army weren't going to have a corpse for a leader!

And Donkey Kong didn't die! He was still twitching. If he was dead, then the plot for Donkey Kong Jr would be pointless(somewhat?).

*sigh* does anyone know a way to e-male Malstrom?

All in all I'd rather play games than watch a show or movie, but how many games are as funny as a really good comedy flick?
Play games about what, exactly?

Have they? I mean, sure, any can play a specific game, but how many are will to play a game that has an unfavorable world or player avatar?

I mean, what made arcades, and later, the NES Popular in the first place? What about "PAC-MAN Fever?"

When I'm watching a really good movie, I find myself thinking "wow! I wish I could be at this place/could be doing these things/could be that person!"

When I'm playing a really good game I pretty much am never thinking "gee I wish someone else would do all this so i could watch instead"

There's things each medium can do better than the other, they're two very different beasts. I say video games are better because they have way more potential and are inherently more immersive, but besides that, Nintendo doesn't have any stories worth telling in film, or at least any that would be better watched than played. Nintendo understands that in a game, the game part comes first. They understand everything else should exist to serve the gameplay. They make the game, and give it a story only because the story serves the game. I don't think I've ever played a Nintendo game where the gameplay was deliberately made worse in order to accomodate the story.

I haven't played Metroid: Other M.
Eh. Some people prefer the content within the game itself. The gameplay is secondary to them.

I guess I just want another Super Mario Adventures. I mean, considering what Archie Comics have done for Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man...

I mean rebooting the "content and lore." At the very least, make it more sense. It doesn't have to be the most important thing in the game. It just have to be, at least, justified.

From Malstrom(yeah, yeah), many of those in the 80's liked the game for the immersion of the Mushroom World. The gameplay was minor and irrelevant to them(as long as it's not bad, they don't care).

No. Video games are already better than movies and TV shows.
In terms of what?

In a perfect world, there's a fun TV series about daily life in the world of Splatoon. In the world we live in, there's the Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3.

I don't have much hope for Nintendo cartoons.
Eh. Not the worst adaptation of a video game I've seen. Of the Mario Trilogy, I find Super Mario World to be the worst.

I considered both gameplay and plot reboots in my list.  (Star Fox, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Zero are all versions of the same Lylat Wars)

I was not trying to define "reboot". Quite the opposite, I was just wondering what 4 Game Freak actually wanted, because Nintendo constantly resets both their series' plots and gameplay.

Does he want something drastic like Bomberman: Act Zero?
No, not to that level!

I just want them to go back to basics. Go back to what made series like Mario and Zelda popular in the first place.

Honestly, I liked the whole"Marios were Earthers from Brooklyn" story from NOA. Perhaps they could just use the original tale of how they first got into the Mushroom Kingdom and next. The story structure I would have taken would go like this.

SMB1/SMBLL > SMBUSA > SMB3 > SML1 > SML2 > SMW

This way, they could re-introduce us to the familiar characters and worlds in a much more proper way, as well as not overuse Bowser as much.

Let's also take Metroid. I want the gameplay and immersion to be as good as, at least, Super Metroid or Metroid Prime. As for Story Canon, its Structure could restart like this.

Metroid 1 > Metroid II > Metroid Prime

Because I kinda had some questions regarding Super Metroid(how did Mother Brain come back, for one).

I'll speak more of these at some later point.

Would you want more book, music, and tv adaptations of Nintendo's properties?

Provided they were done by the best and/or most favorable groups?

Oh, this is good!

And why start there? Why not give the Game Boy the chance to show itself to the new generation as well?

It should have the functions of a Game Boy Pocket, a Game Boy Light, & a Super Game boy, all in one! Playable, comfortable, & useable, with up to 20 Game Boy Titles included!

It could also have a Game & Watch collection included as well. Probably.

What do you mean by that? Because they already "Reboot" constantly:

Super Mario 64 was a reboot
New Super Mario Bros. was a reboot
Super Mario 3D Land was a reboot
Almost every Zelda is a sort of reboot, with Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild being HUGE reboots
Star Fox 64 was a reboot
Star Fox Zero was a reboot
Metroid Prime was a reboot
The Paper Mario series has at least repeatedly changed styles, if not totally rebooted
Donkey Kong '94 was a reboot
Donkey Kong Country was a reboot
Kid Icarus Uprising was a reboot

Go back to the very beginning and start over(mostly in terms of content).

That, or just pull a Neo Mortal Kombat.

Honestly, I would like to see almost all of Nintendo to get a "Reboot."

A fresh, new, start(or restart) on almost all their IP's. Just with the right people, of course.
