I don't think it'd be fair to expect anybody to understand how the industry works if they haven't already been paying attention to it for ten years. Just think about the 3DS series. You understood what a 3DS was because you knew what a DS was. You understood what a 3DS XL and 2DS were because you knew what a 3DS was. You can't begin to describe the New 3DS without first describing the 3DS, one of its exclusive features is to play SNES games (what's a SNES, now), you have to make a distinction between an enhanced version of a game system and an actual successor to it, so you'll probably compare it to the DSi and Game Boy Color...

I think it's a basic responsibility of a consumer to research something before they spend a bunch of money on it and if you buy the wrong thing because you couldn't be bothered to learn about all your options that's your problem. You don't really have an excuse. But I think the effect of just how complicated it is will either keep people in their comfort zones, or make all these game reboots with the same title as the original but less nichey gameplay okay forever

A is for http://awkwardzombie.com/

It's still going. It's my favorite video game comic that is drawn by a rocket scientist

Kinda. The box is all about Wii U and mentions "also works with Wii" but the remote itself looks just like a Wii Remote Plus.

You know what's a lot of fun*? Trying to explain what the Wii U does and what controllers work with it and how and what you need to play Wii games and what the difference is.

GameCube support would still be great

For the NX to have, now

You'd be right to think comedy is something games haven't really gotten their hooks into yet. But some really great examples do exist. Fighting in God Hand is hilarious, between the outrageous enemies and the moves you use on them. Especially the big payoff super moves--a few of them are all about the brutality, but most of them are satisfyingly funny. Dead Rising 1 and 2 are about using everyday items as improvised weapons on crowds of braindead people, and that on its own is comic gold. Banjo-Kazooie, quality dry humor throughout.

Those people shouldn't play games and are holding the medium back.

When I'm watching a really good movie, I find myself thinking "wow! I wish I could be at this place/could be doing these things/could be that person!"

When I'm playing a really good game I pretty much am never thinking "gee I wish someone else would do all this so i could watch instead"

There's things each medium can do better than the other, they're two very different beasts. I say video games are better because they have way more potential and are inherently more immersive, but besides that, Nintendo doesn't have any stories worth telling in film, or at least any that would be better watched than played. Nintendo understands that in a game, the game part comes first. They understand everything else should exist to serve the gameplay. They make the game, and give it a story only because the story serves the game. I don't think I've ever played a Nintendo game where the gameplay was deliberately made worse in order to accomodate the story.

I haven't played Metroid: Other M.

I just want them to go back to basics. Go back to what made series like Mario and Zelda popular in the first place.

yeah. Mario being from Brooklyn. That was definitely the big selling point. Buy a NES! We got a guy from Brooklyn!!

No. Video games are already better than movies and TV shows.
