Mario Chat / Re: Mario Kart 3DS Casting Call!

E. Gadd actually has been confirmed to appear in Luigi's Mansion 2, plus he made an appearance in the first two Mario & Luigi games, so you never know.

As sad as it is, Super Mario Kart and Super Circuit tracks are almost certainly gonna get the short end of the deal, as they already did in MK Wii. Either Nintendo will do that method (3 for 3D tracks, 2 for 2D), or they'll give two tracks each to the first four games, then give four each to MK DS and Wii, as they haven't had as many games to make appearances as classic tracks.

One thing I didn't like in that game was locations. Flipside and Flopside just weren't that intersting to me, especially when compared to the excellent hubs Rogueport and Toad Town. Those two hubs were actually fun to explore. In SPM it felt like a chore to have to navigate the hub.

One of the main reasons I'm excited for this game and confident it will be excellent is that Retro Studios (of Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country returns fame) is codeveloping the game.

Probably due to their development, there's a DKCR themed track in the game.

I want a simplistic but fun battle mode like in MK64. I feel like the multicomputer points frenzy in recent games just isn't as fun, but this might just be the nostalgia talking.

As for characters, I would appreciate lots of them, but I would prefer if they handled differently, given visible stats. Also, a few characters outside of the Mario universe would be great; Kirby characters would work well.

I'm replaying:
Mario Kart Wii because of Mario Kart 3DS,
Pikmin because of the Pikmin 3 announcement,
and Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Not really because of Paper Mario 3DS, but just because I wanted to replay it, not having done so since it first came out. I forgot how Bowser-centric that game was, and now I want more Bowser games. I mean really, Nintendo has made Mario games that focus on every one of the series' main characters except Bowser. All he has is this game that's half-focused on him.

I was mistaken. For some reason I thought Reggie said that the game titles shown at the very end of the E3 presentation would be available this year, but I just checked and it isn't. On Nintendo's E3 website it just says "TBA" under release date.

Did anyone else feel like the game doesn't look too far into development based on the E3 trailer? It just felt like a lot was missing... And yet Nintendo said the game'll be out this year.

Where has it been called Kirby's Star? Nintendo seems to just be calling it Kirby Wii so far.

Anyway, on Nintendo's E3 website, it shows a gameplay video showing 4-player gameplay akin to NSMBWii, only the four players are all different characters with different abilities:
First player Kirby, second Meta Knight, third Dedede, and fourth the waddle dee from Kirby 64. I don't know if you necessarily have to play in that order. This game is definitely looking fun!

Edit: here's a link to the page with the video/pics: http://e3.nintendo.com/games/detail/#/wii/kirby/

I'm a bit worried that they've changed the battle formula too much... I'll definitely still get the game, but I just hope that whatever's being done in the game works well.

I believe this could work well, if a game entirely like a 2D Mario is what they're shooting for. I feel Galaxy tried to be both linear and open-worlded, and never succeeded in either (particularly failing in open world exploration; the Sunshine-esque galaxy in 2 din't capture the essence of what Sunshine achieved in its explorable worlds). I enjoy both the 2D and 3D Marios, but I'd rather have a clearly defined gameplay style. 64 and Sunshine had excellent worlds to visit that were enjoyable to explore and just have fun, while the 2D Marios are good in their own respect.

I've found that after playing in 3d for only a few hours, my eyes became accustomed to the 3D, and ever since then I've been able to see the 3D as naturally as the 2D.

*sigh* This game does look awesome, but alas, it's only coming to the PS3 and the 360...

My first video game was either Star Fox 64 or Super Mario 64. I think we got both of them at the same time when my parents bought the system from one of my Dad's coworkers (I think we also got Goldeneye with it, though my parents wouldn't let me play it until several years later). We had recently moved to a new state, and I hadn't started school yet, so that N64 was one of my only friends.

The majority of the game is going to take place in Hyrule; Link only starts out in the floating island place above Hyrule (called Skyloft, if I remember correctly), hence the dramatic jumping off a cliff scene in the trailer: he's descending into Hyrule.

No idea how they're explain him surviving the fall, though. Probably some magic thingy.

I believe it's comparable to how African Americans were treated for the longest time. It's a belief that's been passed down for generations, and only now is that belief starting to be overridden by widespread acceptance and understanding

Another explanation is the fact that the bible condemns men "[lying] with a man as one lies with a woman," but even then I don't understand the hate. Whatever happened to"love thy neighbor as thyself?"

Well now that you've brought this up again, did anyone else see the new trailer from the Game Developers Conference 2011?
