Forum Games / YTMND THREAD
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:54:30 AM »
ITT we post funny YTMNDS. Like so.
Cue "The Unfunny Truth About Scientology" which made me very paranoid for like a week.
Try to keep YTMNDS slightly SFW.
A little, at least. Seriously, come on.

General Chat / BOTVGH (A video game fanfic)
« on: March 02, 2010, 02:24:19 PM »
Okay, I know I made a thread about this long ago (more like almost 4 years ago) but I for one will actually miss this thing.
What's Battle of the Video Game Heroes (Or BOTVGH, as it's formally known) you're asking me?
A very obscure fanfic series done in the style of a TV series that was known from the late 90's to very early 21st century. It used to have its own domain name after leaving GEOCites (Which is dead now. RIP) but that name was snatched by one of those typesquatters. An archive of that site exists http://web.archive.org/web/20010723060745/http://www.botvgh.com/ there. Why would I miss something like this? It was nostalgic if you used the internet in the "Old Age," (around 1997 to 2,000) was a fan of Nintendo, and had lots of free time on your hands. It was somewhat ahead of its time by parodying (I HOPE) the old "Mary Sue" trend by having the characters hate the authors and having an omnipotent author who was super strong, master of gold, destroyer of evil, and etc. All characters were OOC, the plots could get creative, and the whole thing was SO nostalgic (like said) if you used the internet from around '97-'02.
Why can't this be resurrected? Why will no one buy the domain back and restore the site? Maybe post adaptions of it on YouTube and Newgrounds, etc. Why must this stay in relative obscurity? Why can't the chatrooms and all of the old features be brought back?
...Why?
Anyway, here's the new version of the site: http://www.smbhq.com/users/botvgh/.
And sorry if this topic makes me look stupid.

General Chat / General Animation Topic
« on: January 08, 2010, 11:35:08 AM »
I think the topic title describes everything, no?
...FINE! Favorite and least favorite cartoons, cartoon characters, and...yeah. Just everything that could be lumped with animation. Anime and stop motion discussion welcome.
First off, I'm sick of everyone pretending to be too highbrow for Family Guy. If you don't like it, fine. Just shut up about how all it is is just random, VERY lowbrow gags. Beavis and Butt-head, from what little I've seen of it, (Did-Not-Do-The-Research claims, ahoy! And they'd be valid, to boot!) is pretty crude, but everyone likes it. As for "wah wah wah snot Family Guy is a rip-off of The Simpsons," then...
Family Guy=Lowbrow, vulgar The Simpsons
The Simpsons=Modern-day Jetsons for adults
The Jetsons=Futuristic version of The Flintstones
If you don't think the jokes are funny/are in good taste, I don't mind that.
Basically, it was only hated because South Park4chan's favorite animated series ever insulted it.
Before then, everyone loved it. Of course, the show's plots are much weaker and the jokes are ruder, but the point is, this show gets too much hate.
Also, I find newer The Simpsons funny. Yes, I have bad taste, blahbbity blah.
I believe that King of the Hill wasn't as good when Bobby broke up with Connie.
So, yeah, this topic is going to be quickly turning into flaming me for liking Family Guy and new Simpsons. Still, talk about whatever non-hentai animated stuff you want to.

General Chat / Help with MS Paint
« on: December 05, 2009, 09:52:17 AM »
There's a major problem with Microsoft Paint on my comp. You see, the colors are all messed up (Royal blue is grey, darker blue is black, dark red is black, dark purple is grew, ETC) and it can't be anything because of where it says "Edit Colors" because, upon opening another window of MS Paint, I noticed that all of the color's Hue, Saturation, and whatever Lum is (I forgot) settings are the same. However, here's the kicker: When editing on one window with an image I haven't changed yet, the colors are all messed up, but when using an other one. Everything is fine.

General Chat / MIDI2NES Program
« on: November 25, 2009, 10:29:06 PM »
I'm looking for that one program that lots of people use to convert MIDI files to make them sound like songs from an NES game. You may have seen many examples of conversions on YouTube, and I think that what be pretty cool. Anyone have a download of the program? If so, upload the installer/program in a post. Thanks.
And don't say MIDINES, because that's hardware and relatively expensive.

General Chat / BOTVGH (move if this is in the wrong board)
« on: September 17, 2009, 04:25:24 PM »
BOTVGH remains one of the best things I've ever seen. Sure, the early episodes were badly written with sloppy grammar, product placement, and, well... lots of things to hate, but it retains a large nostalgic value since it was one of the first things I'd ever seen in this big, grand 'ole internet. Plus, the 6th, 7th, and what little of an 8th season we had were actually genuinely good. Someone needs to bring this back with all of the original authors. Also, I have an archived version of the site back when it was on Geocities.

Video Game Chat / An EarthBound topic
« on: August 22, 2009, 03:13:50 PM »
I ended up in love (figuratively, of course) with a little SNES RPG called EarthBound. Basically, you're a psychic kid named Ness (the one you may or may not have heard of in Smash Bros.) and the rest of his crew: Paula, Jeff, Poo (So help me if someone already starts laughing about his name!), who have to fight this ungodly abomination of a final boss known as Giygas. It's an alien (yeah, I know, cliche, whatever), or at least was before it lost it's mind and body from evil power. It's a very lighthearted (with the exception of the OH GOD FREAKY Final Boss), hilarious game with cartoony, simplistic graphics. Discuss, stallions, and sorry for the abundance of parenthesis.
