That's funny; "Blank Silence" sounds like a real band, and "Nothing" sounds like a real sound. You had me fooled there.

We are all quite crafty.

Last night I was listening to the sound of the freeway hum. Right now I'm listening to the sound of the infant swing. Soon I'll be listening to the sounds of the dishwasher and washing machine. I'd rather be listening to Twisted Sister's "Twisted Christmas", but the CD wasn't worth $15 to me. Besides, it would probably wake Hannah up.

Melodies can be created and found anywhere, which is one of the things I love about music.

-
Metallica - "Eye of the Beholder" - ...And Justice for All
-
P!nk
"Stupid Girls"
I'm Not Dead
-
Well, Mr. Melee, I recommend Pink Floyd.
Just joking!
If you want classic rock, I suggest pretty much anything from Boston, Kiss, Heart, or George Thurogood (provided you're man enough). If it's anything else, ah can't help ya, a'cause them kinds these days is always listenin' to that heavy metal and whatnot, daggum it.
-
Mr Mele, I assume that you are a large fan of classic rock... Prog is not taht far of a leap, so... I would suggest Genesis, Yes and ELP for the older stuff. But along the lines of newer stuff... Spock's Beard is great. Also, look out for The Flower Kings, The Tangent, THE MARS VOLTA, Dream Theater, Wolfmother (These guys sound just like early Zeppelin!) Marillion, Porcupine Tree( Pink Floyd-esque) and Opeth.
-
"Weird Al" Yankovic
"Pancreas"
Straight Outta Lynwood
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking Tool, more Pink Floyd, more Metallica, and maybe some Stone Temple Pilots. Glorb, I hope you know that I've been a George Thorogood fan for a long time now.

My sister just mispronounced "beef stroginov" as "beef strogg-noff". I've got this cool idea for an epic metal song that lasts, like, ten minutes, and it's about an alien race called the Strognoff invading Earth, and the subsequent human rebellion. And no, I'm not joking.

"The Wound"
Somewhere Else, 2006
I just got this album today, and I am pleasantly surprised. It is an emotionally difficult album: highly depressing sounds with bleak lyrics, true to the Marillion style. It does, however, create an atmosphere like that of a thick fog. Its difficult to get though, very full, mysterious, but, somehow simple and beautiful. I highly recommend this album to any fans of Marillion.

It's an unspoken in-joke of sorts among my friends (but usually friends's friends) to spontanously and dramatically sing "Don't Stop Believin'". I suspect it's that way with most people.
-
That's a pretty good song to sing spontaneously and dramatically. Second only, of course, to Never Gonna Give You Up.
-
True, but that one's pretty much a universal joke.
-
I'm most partial to irking friends and/or random passers-by with a rousing rendition of Tiny Tim's 1968 classic, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skU-jBFzXl0).

梁靜茹-勇氣
曲︰光良 詞︰瑞業 編︰MAC CHEW

I don't know who sings it, or what any of the other words are, but part of it goes something like "This time, baby, I'll be bullllllet proooof" (those last two words are "bullet proof". She sings them and stretches them out)

"Judy is Your Viet Nam"
That song is entirely too short. Seriously, it sounds like it should be at least two minutes long. As for what I'm listening to:
Bump of Chicken
'Embrace'
Yggdrasil
-
Short and sweet, man. Short and sweet.
The only music I've been listening to for the past three weeks is from Join Us (and a few other TMBG albums, but mostly that one). This pattern may continue for the next three weeks.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dTmqZuYpIM
You hear at least the beginning of the song at least four times every time you start the game (on the Wii disc channel, at the beginning of the opening scene you skip past to get to the title screen, on the title screen itself, and on the screen you see when you load a game (the Wii version took out the alternate saxophone version that played on the save screen in the PS2 version and replaced it with the same one that plays everywhere else)), so it kinda gets ingrained in your head a lot. And it's also your character's ringtone on his radiocameraphone (in 1920s New York).

I meant to put that in the Stuck In Your Head thread. Oh well. Now my post count is higher than it would've been!

This has been stuck in my head on and off for the past week or so. Listening to it may or may not help with that problem.

Currently I am listening one of my most favorite song by Guns N Roses and the song is Don't cry..!!
-
It's not one of my favorites, but has special meaning to me because one of my friends in college died of a brain tumor and had it played at his funeral/wake or whatever it's called when the body isn't present. He was going to school to be a medical doctor and donated his body to science.

Milky Way by Syd Barrett. He is my favorite artist of all time, although I don't listen to him as constantly as I used to. My renewed interest is a result of reserving a copy of a 45 compilation that was made with a book filled with all the photos taken of him during his solo years. His solo years can be described as interesting to say the least.

I liked this song as a teenager, but didn't know what it was really about until about a year ago.
This also makes me think of Whale Wars. I'm glad to see they won, but miss their battles.
BTW, I'm not a Green Peace fan. I strongly denounce their stance on golden rice.
I'm more of a Brown before Green person, but that's for another thread.

That is some impressive work there. I especially liked the Smells Like Teen Spirit cover. Offhand, I've been listening to video game music covers and weird versions because instrumentals tend to help me when I'm writing (something I do a lot).
