« on: May 15, 2008, 08:26:03 PM »
Everyone's got a favorite. I'm allowing 3 votes per user.

Mine are The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc. and Ratatouille.

When Wall-E comes out, I'll add it to the poll. All users can remove their votes and recast later.

General Chat / What do your parents do?
« on: May 11, 2008, 06:58:05 PM »
While you were in school getting an edumacation, what were your parents doing to give them money?

I'll start with my mother. She took three years of college, and has, most of the time, taken clerical positions for various offices, as well as be a pre-school teacher and a barber, though she is currently unemployed, but my father has plans to change that.

My father, an artist at heart, has been doing advertising for a good while, and has had art director and creative director positions at Ogilvy & Mather, Publishers' Clearing House, and a local mattress dealer, Sleepy's. He has since quit Sleepy's a couple of years back and started his own agency, AdCount. He's got his own office and jointly runs it under the name of AdCount Direct, LLC with a woman in Marketing (her half of the agency is called Direct Drive).

He wants the company to expand into entertainment, though. He's been pitching a dark comedy TV show about an ad agency, and has got a lot of positive reactions from various people, many of them important enough to get the show on the air. He'd like it to appear on one of the movie channels so he'd have more creative freedom with it. My mother's going to have a prominent role in the show, as well.

This is the opening theme of the show.

(If you go on to YouTube and search "AdCount" and you'll see a couple of other videos of this show. The second result should be the opening theme.)

So what do your parents do?

Mario Chat / MKWii's Ups and Downs
« on: April 29, 2008, 12:58:37 AM »
The thread on Brawl was popular, so:

Ups:
• The Wii Wheel actually does work fine, I like it.
• I thought the idea of karts AND bikes was pretty cool too.
• Yoshi's new vocals, they make me laugh

Downs:
• Baby Daisy. 'Nuff said.
• Still no cup featuring all Rainbow Roads
• With the retro levels, I think they should've used the intros used in each MK game the track is from. Not important, but I think it'd be a nice touch.

List some of your opinions.

General Chat / Your favorite unhealthy fast food places
« on: April 10, 2008, 12:26:04 AM »
A poll that has been fermenting in my mind for awhile, long before I made my Pancakes vs. Waffles poll. What fast food restaurants do you enjoy eating at?

I've not included places like Arby's, Subway or Quizno's, as I don't really deem them fast food (they're definitely much healthier), and pizza chains like Pizza Hut and Domino's aren't included, because they aren't really fast (Sure, You've Got 30 Minutes, but other people've only got 5 to 10).

You can choose as many places as you'd like, with the option to change your vote if you accidently make a mistake. If there's a place I've missed (Those appear to be the most prominent ones, and even then most of those are fairly regional, we don't have ANY Dairy Queens, Sonics OR Jacks up here in New York), tell me, and I'll most likely add it if it's well known and has locations in enough places.

Please post telling me WHY you like these places, and what you usually order from these places.

My votes:
Burger King
Awesome food. I almost always order a Tendercrisp plain, with large fries and a drink, and ask for buffalo sauce on the side because they discontinued the Spicy Tendercrisp. The fries are pretty good, too.

Wendy's
For awhile I had a period when I disliked the place, mainly due to ordering a spicy chicken filet and getting a sandwich with mostly inedible meat. A few years later, I went there again (mainly because I was really hungry and didn't have much choice) and had the item again, and didn't have any problems with it. So yeah I like the place again.

KFC
Eh, I don't care what all the "Do you know what they DO to those chickens?" people say, I do find the chicken to be quite good there. I usually have 4 of those small sandwich things, or the boneless honey barbecue wings.

White Castle
Wow great place. I'm glad there are tons of locations here. I usually get 4 burgers (not plain, but not with cheese) with the onions, pickles and ketchup on them, fries, and either chicken rings or mozzarella sticks, with barbecue sauce or marinara sauce on their respective sides.

Checkers
Delicious fries. Like, the best fries ever. I usually get the chicken strip combo basket. Heart attack city =D

Roy Rogers
They had good food, but since locations are very sparse here (I've only ever seen them at rest stops on interstate highways anymore), I can't really remember what I usually get there.

Now you vote. =3

General Chat / Pancakes or Waffles?

(My vote was the third option, despite the fact that it's a picture of waffles and only waffles.)

General Chat / Favorite Girl Scout Cookies
« on: February 19, 2008, 04:38:46 PM »
(If there are any ones I'm missing, please tell me, and I shall add them)

So which Girl Scout cookies do you like most? Personally, I love Thin Mints the most, but also really like the Tagalongs and Trefoils.

General Chat / What clothes do you sleep in?
« on: February 10, 2008, 09:33:11 PM »
Though the poll does seem kind of useless now that I think about it, what do you usually wear to bed and at night before you head to bed? What did you usually wear to bed as you aged through the years?

Personally, I only wear boxers, but on colder nights I'll have a pair of pajama pants on instead.

As a young child, my sleeping attire varied through the seasons. In late autumn, winter, and early spring, I'd wear pajamas, a long sleeved shirt and pants (they usually matched). As the weather got warmer, it'd be more mixed, I'd have short sleeved shirts instead of long, and wear a pair of briefs, and on really hot nights, no shirt at all.

As I got older, I switched from briefs to boxers, but I usually wore whatever I wore during the day to bed (after showering). When I realized that it wasn't very clean to do that, I'd wear a t-shirt and boxers to bed year round.

When I started to grow my hair out, I always woke up with sweat around the collar of my t-shirt, so I stopped wearing one to bed.

How about you?

General Chat / Stories about famous people you met
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:26:49 PM »
Anyone have interesting stories about meeting a certain celebrity or famous person?

The earliest one I can remember was when my family met Danny Tamberelli and Mike Maronna (The two guys who starred in The Adventures of Pete & Pete).

My mother wanted their autographs because she liked the show (as did my brother and I). When she got them, she read it, saying "From Danny and Mike". She looked at my brother and I, and then back at them, and this little bit of dialogue ensued:

Mom: Wait, aren't you supposed to put YOUR names on it?
Maronna: Uhh, those ARE our names.

This confused my mother quite a bit, as those happen to be the names of my brother and I as well. Then she laughed, and explained to them how it confused her, as those were our names as well, and then she looked down at us and said the same thing. Our reactions were like "....k".

I also recall my father giving Tamberelli a noogie. I thought that wasn't very kind, but it didn't seem to annoy him. Later, my brother got to play laser tag with them (This whole thing occured at a laser tag + arcade place), but I was too young to join them.

I also met the former governor of New York, but except for a handshake, there's nothing interesting there.

So, do any of you have interesting stories?

General Chat / Chopsticks or silverware?
« on: October 27, 2007, 09:48:22 PM »
So I tried using chopsticks today while eating a plate of General Tso's chicken, and failed miserably, so I switched back to a fork. As I started to discuss this in IRC, I thought it'd make a good thread here, seeing as Max's toilet paper thread was surprisingly popular.

So, which do you use?

Mario Chat / Your favorite Power-Ups in various Mario games
« on: August 07, 2007, 10:03:54 PM »
I've defined a power-up (well in this thread, anyway) as anything that alters Mario's (or Luigi's) physical appearance and abilities to benefit them, either for a limited time or until Mario touches an enemy. I've listed them in order of appearance (in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, and New Super Mario Bros.) If I missed a game, please let me know, and I shall add the power-ups from those games (I'm not including anything from RPGs or Mario Kart/Party games, due to the fact that they do not follow the rule of altering the physical appearance of Mario/Luigi, nor am I including the power ups of Super Mario Sunshine, for the same reason. Super Mario Bros. 2's Poison Mushroom also isn't included, as it does not benefit Mario or Luigi).

You may vote for 5 power ups.

I hope this becomes a popular poll, and also hope this wasn't done before. Hm.

Get voting.

General Chat / Hair lolol
« on: July 09, 2006, 04:36:25 PM »
Though this was talked about recently in one of Luigison's threads, I felt a separate topic about it would be better, since that topic was more about Luigison than in general.

The question is, Do you like long or short hair on guys? girls?
I'm limiting the votes to two, expecting that people give one vote for guys, and one for girls. You may like both on each, but the poll is about which one you like more.

If you like both, say so in a reply (as well as other comments, saying why you chose what you chose. Saying because you're "old-fashioned" if you chose short hair for guys and long hair for girls isn't enough, explain more).

Personally, I like long hair on both guys and girls. Why? Because I think hair is a cool thing to have on both genders. And, it's fun to head bang and have your hair go everywhere.

I also like to shake excess water out of my hair by shaking my head, so it gets everywhere. :D

I enjoyed Trauma Center: Under the Knife when I got it for my DS last Christmas. I will definitely get this game first (along with Twilight Princess) when I get a Wii.

Who else has played TC:UtK and/or is interested in this title?
