General Chat / Club Nintendo Rewards!
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:59:42 PM »
Curse Club Nintendo and their cool rewards. I have enough Coins to get some great rewards, but I am having trouble deciding what to get. These are what I'm deciding beween..

A set of Hanafuda cards (some have pictures of Mario characters on them)
A set of Mario Cards (put them all together to make the boxart from Mario Party 8)
Super Mario Bros themed Ds Lite game carrying case (holds 9 games and comes with seven Ds Lite Styli [or styluses?])
Silver DS Lite carrying case (only holds one Ds Lite, no games)
Game & Watch Collection (A Ds cart containing three G&W games: Oil Panic, Donkey Kong, Greenhouse)
The Legend of Zelda poster series (a three poster series depecting the history of the Zelda series)

Toadette has expressed interest in the Zelda posters, and before I told her about it, I was really leaning toward the SMB themed carrying case and Styli set. I don't have enough points for both, but I was thinking if I got her the poster set, I could get myself the Ds Lite carrying case. She has said that I can just pick whatever, but I thought I would try to get her something too.

If we get any of the card sets, that is all we'd be able to get until I register more stuff.

If I had known about this sooner,I could have joined Lizard Dude and tried to decide between getting a Mario hat or afree Wiiware game. Maybe next time..

So, what would  you pick?? :)

Video Game Chat / Gamer Speak
« on: November 19, 2009, 09:56:17 AM »
Gamers have a very interesting way of speaking. We die when playing multiplayer, or people kill us. We can beat a game, or we can finish it. Things like that. But have you ever been confused by what someone means when they say they beat a game?

The way I see it, to beat a game, one simply has to finish the final fight (ie: beat Bowser). But to finish a game is to collect everything/complete all levels (ie: collect all Stars, complete hidden areas then beat Bowser..) I realise that the terms beat and finish could be interchangable, but after listening to gamers talk for at least 23 years, you kinda notice a few things.. :)

How do you use gamer speak?

Game Help / Farmville
« on: October 19, 2009, 01:13:28 PM »
I don't need help with the game, but rather I'm looking for an image someone posted here on TMK about Farmville. I'm think it was Shadowbrian, and the image might've been in one of the You _____, You Lose topics.

The image in question is a screen of Farmville, and the farm has sprites from the first three SMB games all over it. SB (or whoever posted it) said "Not my farm, but.."

Mario Chat / Mario vs DK 2 levels
« on: September 28, 2009, 04:16:17 PM »
Seeing as I listed what was in each of the construction sets in the other topic, I thought I would post pictures of my levels since my DS wifi isn't working for whatever reason.

Feel free to create pictures of your levels and post them as well (links to Luigison's level creator can be found here.) Only the first two tool kits are available. I would update it myself, but having no url experience..

I actually made this level in the game using the first special kit. It's supposed to be a short but fast paced level. Can both of your minis reach the door?

Site Discussion / Weird Posts
« on: September 27, 2009, 08:54:57 PM »
Over the last few days, if I've had a post that was longer than the post window's size, the bottom most line wouldn't fit on the screen and the post window would jump to and from the bottom line with every character that I type.

What is this and how do I fix it?

Game Help / Mario vs DK 2

I turned it on to get a message about some of the save data being corrupt and needing to be erased. After doing some thorough searching, nothing was erased. Has this happened to anyone else?

Also, is there a website somewhere that we can save our custom level ideas to (or at least create pictures of our custom levels)? I don't know how many times I've had to erase a level I sorta liked in order to create a new one (to erase it again later.. 8 slots is not enough)

General Chat / Beware Cash for Clunkers!

I don't know how many TMKers this will affect, but according to this video, once you access this website, the gov't has access to you!

I almost feel like taking back the car we traded because I'm paranoid about whether the gov't is watching me all the time now! (or not)

General Chat / Your Favorite Youtube Videos

Don't just copy your favorites list into the topic, pick a handful (two or three per post, mabey) and tell us why you like them.

American Super Mario World Commercial

I like this one because it has a slight mistake in it. Can you find it?

Peach's Final Smash Easter Egg

I am surprised that I didn't even notice that.

Toad's Day Off

It's one of the few YTP's about Toad or that has Toad in it.

This actually relates moreso to the SD card. Sometimes when I take a picture in AC, it won't let me save to the SD. When it doesn't save, it'll give me an error message that says something like There is no SD card in the Wii..

I haven't tested it with other games in a while, but all of my data is still there (I played SMG last night.)

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

General Chat / Funniest Gaming Moments
« on: July 21, 2009, 02:39:32 PM »
This is sorta like the Funniest Brawl Moments thread, but here you can post funny moments related to any game, not just the SSB series.

My sister and I were playing Mario Kart 64. We finished our race and watched the award ceremony up to the point where the Cheep-Cheep was about to spit out the trophy. We agreed to turn the game off and play a different one. As the cable came on, there was this commercial on, and a man in it said "Man that's a really big fish!"

Another time, a friend and I were going to play SSB with stereo sound, but I couldn't figure out how to get the sound to run through the game, so we just left it alone. We turned the game on, and me, with my ADD, turned up the sound, completely forgetting that the game wouldn't be in stereo. Someone had been watching Cartoon Network, and suddenly Foghorn Leghorn's voice very loudly says "Woof woof!"

Mario Chat / Mario Theme Video Catalog
« on: July 09, 2009, 01:31:57 PM »
Has anyone ever attempted to caputre every instance of the SMB overworld theme on video? Do we know of every instance??

I am going to make such an attempt. Thing is, I don't know every instance. Do we have a list that has the games that the SMB theme is in? I know some games have more than one instance (Mario Party 5, for example, has five instances) and some Mario games don't have it at all (Mario Kart 64).

Video Game Chat / Your WiiWare Hopes
« on: May 06, 2009, 05:18:52 PM »
I don't have a link to it, but Nintendo once said that they could make sequels to games with the WiiWare (didn't they?)

With Mega Man 9 (while not a WiiWare exclusive) they proved they could still make old games.

One of my hopes is for a Super Mario Kart 2. It would have the same graphics engine as the Snes game, more characters (Toadette, Wario, Waluigi maybe), more courses based off of old Mario locales (more than from SMW: How about a Subcon themed course?), definitely more battle courses (we need more like Battle Course 2 and Battle Course 4, though 1 was fun), and more items (bring the feather back, remove the blue shell!)

A track creator would be nice, but I think that would be pushing it..

If they were to make a sequel to one of your favorites, which one would it be and possibly what features would be in it?

Game Help / Super Mario 64 DS

What is the second to last castle star? I know the white door in the character select room is the last one (after you catch all the glowing rabbits), but what might be the one before that?

I have most of the commonly missed ones: the one in the painting near the end of the Luigi rescue.. is one that I can think of that I know I have.

anyway, what would number 29 be?

Game Help / Rollercoaster Tycoon

I am trying to get the Loopy Landscapes expansion (which includes Corkscrew Follies) to work with a computer that cannot connect to the internet. I know a patch is involved somehow, and i have the means to get a patch to the computer, but currently, only the first RCT game (without the expansions) works.

Does anybody know a solution?

.. Wow. I have a lot of help topics..

Game Help / AC:City Folk again
« on: April 25, 2009, 07:47:21 PM »
This sorta relates to all the AC games, but.. in the first AC game, if you  messed up your music request, KK Slider would play one of three (I think it was three) random riffs. In ACWW, those three random riffs became songs that you could request.

Can you still request these three songs in AC:City Folk? If so, what are the names?
