Author Topic: Question about signatures..  (Read 12138 times)

« on: May 01, 2009, 08:29:40 PM »
On forums I usually like to have banners in my signature. No one here seems to have one...are they even allowed?

Also...someone should fix it so we can see avatars. ;__;

/annoyingnewbness.

Um...yeah, avatars and banners are taboo around here. You're not supposed to mention them...ever.

Well, there are avatars, but only if you want the ugly white theme.

I don't understand why they just didn't enable avatars on this theme?

I had a dream once that I accidentally made my signature three lines long.

I once had a dream where I joined this forum and made a thread asking if I could put a banner in my signature.

Good point. Is it a serious serial problem linked to fear of individuality being present here? I probably would never have a banner in my signature but maybe an image.

I can kind of understand the sig-image ban (banner ban, if you will). I mean, I'd like to be able to use maybe one little picture, but there's some sites where some guys have, like, two or three massive banners, and that's the last thing anybody's bandwidth and/or psyche needs.

Well that's why there should be size limits as to how BIG the banner should be (???x??? px)

Every forum I've ever been on that allows banners but liits their size has had at least ten people who disregard said limits.

I thought they could just have it programmed to not even accept banners bigger than so-and-so by so-and-so.

We like to keep it simple around here, like the old ASP forum was. Unobtrusive and un-annoying.
That was a joke.

Say, are links permitted in our signatures? I've yet to see a single member with a RickRo, err, nondescript URL in theirs, so it leads me to wonder.

Sig violation because all plain-text URLs get converted to links and you can't use code in sigs.

I don't like banners. TMK is fine the way it is.

About avatars: I think they're a good thing. I've pestered MEGAߥTE to create a theme that looks like this one and includes them--an option for users who like that sort of thing. I would do it myself but I'm only a global mod, not an admin.

About banner sigs: No. They're annoying. Enough said.

I think he was waiting for the next version of the forum software or something along those lines. And, as far as I know, the next version is still in early beta.

It's not a big deal to me, really. I guess it's just that most other forums have 'em.

Although you are right, it probably wouldn't take too long to add it.

I have a library card that I've had since before I really had a signature, when I had just barely learned cursive. Once I had developed a moderately decent signature, I just signed it over top of the old one, without really thinking. But I don't think the librarian ever noticed, or would have cared.

EDIT: Hey, what happened to the post that was here a few hours ago that I was kind of replying to?
