I always thought this would be an interesting topic, just because names are an important part of people, and once you name something, it can never really change.
While I highly doubt I will ever have kids, I did have some idea of what I might name them. For a girl(s), it would probably be something like Cecilia or Celeste. Those names sound fancy and uncommon, they have a soft sound to them and it makes them sound classy. Other options would be something like Melanie or Erika. Astrid sounds pretty unique too.
For a boy(s), I definitely would name him Eduardo or Ray. If just for the fact that I would be naming them after two awesome Mexican legends. Jack or Gregory would also suit well, since I'd be naming them after an unstoppable CIA agent and a Docter who uses hax. The only other good boy names I can think of that don't sound totally generic are Skylar, Juventud, and Liam.
Discuss.
-
Paul and Susan.
-
If I have a daughter, I'd like to name her Lavender. I've always thought that that was a nice name, and I like the color and scent of the flower.
-
Girl: Molly. I think it's a cute name.
Boy: I'm torn between Phillips, Robert Jr., or Squiggles. A name like Phillips is pretty sophisicated, Robert Jr. could carry on the family legacy (My dad is named Bob.), and Squiggles is just an awesome name. Seriously. Every girl in high school dreams of dating a guy named Squiggles.
-
I suck at naming things, but one name I would definitely give to a son if and when I get one: Clark. The middle name would be Anthony, and that helps it blend really really well with my last name, which I will not disclose because MaxVance will use that classified information to kill me. I'll let my wife do the rest (in, you know, the future). I have nothing for a girl or a second boy.
What I've always thought you have to do is avoid things that would lead to easy name-calling... kids with names that can go with either girls or boys lead particularly harsh lives. I have just about the most defenseless name ever: Sam I Am, Samantha... poor me. Now, Clark can be a vampire man or something, and they'll call him Clark of the Dark.
Or maybe I should focus on names that can be shortened to four letters or less so it could be registered in Melee. Maybe Brawl will be more lenient.
-
The local Number 1 Names of the Year list was topped by:
Boys: Jacob, followed by Ethan
Girls: Isabella, followed by Emily
Who would have known Isabella is a popular name?
-
Don't know where you got your list because this one says otherwise: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
Jacob and Emily have been the top names since 1999.
-
He said "The local Number 1 Names of the Year list," meaning he was talking about the list of names in Colorado. The list directly at http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ is the national list.
-
My sister and I are both carrying the chromosomes for twins, and neither of us were twins, so..
My fiancee has already shot down this idea, but I always thought it would be funny to name twin girls: Claire Annette and Amanda Lynn.
As for boys, I really only have one idea, and it's already been shot down too: Mario.
Ok, Mario has not so much been shot down as taken into consideration.
-
For boys -- Michael. First born son is being named Michael unless future wife freaks out about it.
For girls... No clue. At all.
-
I couldn't think of any boy names, but I did think of two good girl names: Jillian and Kelsey. I'll admit that before thinking of Kelsey, I thought of Samus.
I'd never name one of my kids Mario-- I probably don't have a teaspoon of Italian blood in me. By the way:
Link is not in the top 1000 male names for any year of birth in the last 100 years.
Please enter another name.
-
Hmm.. I did a search for Mario.
EDIT: Took out the link.. The interesting thing about searching for Mario was that the name was rank 128 in 1992
-
Well, you can't link something with POST data like that... Mario's got rank 178 in 2006.
-
Michael's a pretty good name, Steve. I like it. :D
Anyway I have a good feeling I'm not going to have any kids. If there was a chance that I did though, I'd probably give it an odd name, hoping children wouldn't make fun of it.
Or, give them an odd full name, but give a nickname sounds completely normal. A guy named Loser Lane would usually be called "Lou" by his friends.
-
MaxVance is correct, I meant the Colorado list.
I don't know about what I would name my kids, but I sure WOULDN'T name my kids:
Boy: Bartholomew
Girl: Bertha
For some reason I just dislike both names. Also it annoys me when people name their kid something normal and then spell it totally crazy. "What's your name?" "Jaycub." "Kehlee." "Cleigh."
-
I want to avoid names that could cause my child to be made fun of. That takes out most VG character names. For any VG character names, I want there to be some personal coincidence in it.
Girl: Marin I love Link's Awakening and Pokemon 2000, and, even though I read in a book of baby names that it was a boy's name, I've always seen Marin as a girl's name. Oh, and Marin could be derived from Mary, which was the name of an aunt. My middle name also derives from Mary I don't think anyone would make fun of her for that name, because Marin has become a fairly obscure Zelda character. Although if my spouse has some Italian heritage, I might consider Marina. Middle name could be Charlotte or Charlene after my mom. I'm not sure about a second girl
Boy: I have no Idea. I thought about Lincoln, and call him Link for short, but considering my crush on Link, that was immediately shot down. I'm also thinking Luigi, and call him Lou for shot. Has a better chance, but it's still kind of a long shot. I thought of a few options for a middle name: Mario (But NOT if I choose Luigi as the first name), which can derive from my middle name and my aunt's name. I had a good idea for a boy, but I just completely forgot. I might just have my spouse name the boy.
-
I'm going to name my kid something that will totally scar him/her for life. Since Jason Lee already took Pilot Inspektor, I'd say Special Ed for a boy, and Fnord the Fearsome Viking for a girl.
-
AIn my family, we name out kids after their grandfathers. My mother defied that by naming me Robert, after my father, while my middle name was Michael, after my grandfather. I guess I'll pull the same stint. Robert Michael Francis Crisalli II has a nice ring to it.
-
Then again, Luigi Mario (whatever my married name is gonna be) would be an interesting name for a boy. As long as his peers don't know his middle name. Just picture this: in the future, my little boy is about to open and slam a glass door of a low rise china hutch. I yell, "LUIGI MARIO!" heh heh. Fun first and middle name combination, but I don't know if I have the heart to do that to my kid.
-
I don't understand why people would want to name their kids after a video game character. That seems sad, and the poor kids would get picked on--or at least stand out--because of it. Same goes for other famous names. I could understand a pet, sure, but not a child. I mean, if I found out I was named after some character or celebrity, I'd be a little insulted and think my parent(s) were crazy, obsessive fans. Now, happening to share a name with one out of coincidence is different; that wasn't intentional by the parents.
Anyway, I'm not really a fan of über-common names (like, consistently within the top-ten names from year to year). Even if the name sounds nice, the extreme commonness ruins it for me. Über-common names may make good middle names, though. I don't really like bizarre or extremely uncommon names, either, unless it strikes me right or it sounds like it wouldn't be "weird" or something. I think I like names that are somewhere between common and unique. On another note, über-common middle names--for either a first or middle name--are just...no. (Ann? Marie? Lynn? Come on, almost every female has one of those names.) Variations or adaptations might be okay.
I've never really thought about specific names for kids (considering that having kids doesn't interest me), but I have thought of some general "guidelines" or simply ideas I like, some of which I've gotten from my parents, some which seem like good sense, and some I've just thought of on my own.
I like the idea of initials spelling out something pronounceable. In other words, one of the names starts with a vowel. (For example, my initials are JAK.) I've always thought acronym-izing names is cool. Makes monograms look kind of weird, but oh well. Of course, you'd have to make sure the initials aren't something unfortunate or that kids would easily find a way to tease.
I also like the idea of the middle name being named after a relative (or possibly family friend), from either their first name or middle name. This includes variations of the name. If it can cover both sides of the family, even better. I personally would rather have the kid's first name not be named after someone('s first name). (Which also means I'm not a fan of Junior-izing. It's unoriginal and gets confusing, especially if they live in the same house. You can honor someone but still be original.)
Aside from liking a name, I'd like it's meaning to be something fitting, as well. A biblical name seems appealing, too.
Sapphira's Naming Rules and Guidelines:
~Avoid names that have too many syllables, letters, and are difficult to spell or pronounce. Remember that your kid and everyone else will have to deal with a long, complicated name their whole life. The exception to this is if you plan on calling them by a nickname of that name (and the only possible nicknames aren't "cutesy"). (For example, if you like the name Elizabeth, but don't like the nicknames Liz, Liza/Lisa, Ellie, or Beth, it's probably a bad idea, because the full name is a pain to say.) Be especially careful if you already have a complicated last name.
~Likewise, avoid names that start with the same or similar sound as your last name. Obvious alliteration and assonance in names just makes a mess of things. Depending on the letters, syllables, and pronunciation, it can even turn into a tongue-twister. *Wonders if anyone will catch the irony.*
~Also avoid names that have multiple common spellings, unless you don't mind people constantly misspelling it (e.g. Catherine vs. Kathryn, Stephen vs. Steven). (Interestingly, I like both of those names, but only the second spellings of them.)
~Don't be redundant. If you name one kid Michael, don't name one Michelle. Same with Christopher and Christina.
...Hahaha, I way overanalyze everything. Anyway, playing something like Sims 2 will really make you think about names. Especially when you (I) put a lot of thought into naming ANYTHING. I like putting a lot of thought into things, obviously. :B
-
^ You have some good points.
... So, let's say you're having a baby. Tomorrow. Congratulations, it's a boy! What do you name him?
Oh, and you're having another baby on Saturday. Girl.
-
I don't understand why people would want to name their kids after a video game character.
Amen. No one can seriously sit there and say they'll name there kids after something like Sonic the Hedgehog. The kid will be made fun of for the rest of his life.
-
This reminds me of the nutcase who named her daughter? "Yujinaka".
-
Brillit = Bridget? No. I don't understand why that person didn't start spelling her name the traditional way... It's hard for a people to figure these things out, substitutes were always saying, "Erm... what?"
Those are good guidelines, Sapph. One should be "NO BRITTANY/BRITNI/BRITNEY/WHATEVER." There was this one year in school and we had three Brit-knees in one class, and it was so annoying. There are too may of them. I used to say, "You know what, we should put every Britney in the world on a rocket, send 'em to Mars, and just call it Planet Britney." I still think that. I will let Clark of the Dark push the button to launch the rocket.
-Things I wouldn't name a kid-
-Natasha (Spell it backwards)
-Izan (Same. I told my sister about this made-up name and she thought it was really really cool, and that it was too bad it was a backwards message)
-Any name that obviously belonged to a video game character. That is, I wouldn't do it on purpose. Zelda IS a pretty name, really, but...
-Same for famous person.
-Britney
-S4m Jr. Passing one's name on has always seemed... egotistic to me. Again, I'm strong believer in "whatever floats your boat," so if you like Juniors then have at it.
-Jesus. They always pronounce it "Hey-ZEUS," but that is SUCH a mask. The ironic thing is that most of the people named Jesus I've encountered are troublemakers, to say the least. The last one I meet will not be.
-Same for Angel. Hey, maybe if I named a kid "Demon," they'd be really nice.
-Anything that would result in first initials "L" and "O."
-
Um... "they" pronounce it hey-ZEUS because Jesus is a totally legitimate Spanish name, and that's how it is pronounced en espanol.
-
I was thinking of what I would really name my kids, assuming "Special Ed" is taken. For a boy, I like the name "Jeffery", and for a girl, "Erin". They're both nice- and normal-sounding, are uncommon enough to be recognizable, and are just common enough to sound like the person who named them hadn't previously considered "Special Ed".
-
I like the name Marin because it can come from my middle name. I don't see it as a name that obviously belonged to a video game character. It'd hopefully be more of a coincidence than intentionally naming the child after a Zelda character. When I get older, I'll probably find a better name for a kid. I really don't have the heart of intentionally naming my child after a video game character. That's why I want my spouse to help me with a name; you still have that risk of someone recognizing Marin as a VG character's name, and I don't like any of the ideas I've had for a boy's name.
My school had a kid who was nicknamed Toad, but I have absolutely NO idea where the guys got that from (as far as I know, it doesn't come from Peach's Mushroom Retainer, and I don't see any connection between the kid and the amphibian toad)
I also like the name Louisa. That might be a better name than Marin because Louisa has little to no intentional VG references.
-
"Toad" is one of those common kid nicknames. If a kid's slightly short or has even a single wart, boom, he's called Toad. I was nicknamed "Donald" a few years back for reasons I still cannot ascertain.
-
I've never really thought of a boy's name, but as for girls I kinda like Lily. It sounds so cute. However, I think my sisters have terrible taste in names. I mean, seriously? Chevy? What the crap?
-

Meh, around 4th grade people used to call me "The Grinch". That was after the year the live action Grinch movie came out.

"For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the........."
You know what? Nevermind, this joke is far to corny. :P

Deezer Jr.

Elizabeth Deud Welch

Michael

Elizabeth Deud Welch
Best name ever, right next to Fnord and Special Ed.
-
Best name ever, right next to Fnord and Special Ed.
What about Sqiggles?
Every teenage girl wants to date Squiggles.
-
Bob.
-
For my first son, I would name him Ronald, after my grandfather. Any after that I don't know, at least not right now for boys.
For my daughter, I don't really know, but I really like the names Marie and Grace.
-
George W. Bush Morgan.
-
I'd say naming a kid after a president (especially one as recent as Bush) is just as bad as naming a kid after a video game character.
-
If not, worse. Then again, nothing could be worse than naming a kid Sephiroth. I think that actually happened once; that poor kid's gonna get scarred for the rest of his life.
-
I'd say naming a kid after a president (especially one as recent as Bush) is just as bad as naming a kid after a video game character.
It was just a dumb joke, man. I'm not really gonna name my kid after Bush.
-
Abraham is a cool name, though.
-
Keep in mind that this is all my own opinion here.
Good girl names: Jess(for me, not for a possible daughter), Jade, Natalie, Julia, Misty, Mimi, Stella, Joy
Bad girl names: Jess Jr, Leslie, Amanda, Araña, Mitsi
Good boy names: Tyler, Kevin, Landon, Brandon(not with Landon as a brother or middle name), Luigi, Mario(maybe as a middle name for Luigi XD), Derek, Michael, William, Orion
Bad boy names: Blumiere(HECKS NO), Bartholemew, Elton, Lucifer, Chad
-
Amen. No one can seriously sit there and say they'll name there kids after something like Sonic the Hedgehog. The kid will be made fun of for the rest of his life.
Speaking of which, did anyone here hear about the woman that named her daughter YujiNaka?
As for me, I'm not really sure yet. I like Amy and Jessica for girls, but for boys, I like Anthony. Unfortunetly, I know all three of those people (with one being my cousin) so I dunno.
-

You said Misty twice.
-
You said Misty twice.
She said Mitsi and Misty.
-
Yeah. What he said. ;P
...Jessica for girls...
YES. YES.
-
She said Mitsi and Misty.
No, she said Misty twice in the list of good girl names.
-

P.S.

*facepalm* Crap.
It's fixed.
-
I'd go with the Frank Zappa approach: Moon Unit, Dweezil, Diva.
Not really.
I rather like the name Theodore. Ted is a solid name. Stephen is nice as well. It'd be cool to give a son a Shakespearian name like Tybalt or Othello.
I like Christine, Mandy or Michelle as girl names. But, my favorite name to name a baby girl would totally be Kayleigh.
-
Bad boy names: Blumiere(HECKS NO), Bartholemew, Elton, Lucifer, Chad
Dude, my cousin's name is Chad.
-
Boy: Zach/Jason/Jeremy
Girl: Jessica
Also, go here for some ideas on how NOT to name your kid: http://inch.stormpages.com/
-
That site is carp (yes, I said carp to be nice), quite frankly. Who are they to tell me what my kid's name should be? They even said that my name was a bad one. What the heck's wrong with Josh? "Too far common in the present." That's a horrible reason not to be named Josh. No one at my school seems to have a problem with it.
-
Actually, I've disliked your name for a long time, but kept it in until now. Quite frankly, it offends me.
-
I haven't always liked my name, but I've learned to live with it. No matter how tempting it might be for me to name a boy Luigi Mario, I don't want him to be forced into living with a first and middle name combination that obviously came from a well video game. However, I know for sure that I want my first born girl's middle name to be Charlotte or Charlene. A second girl, well, I'm not sure.
-
I've always liked the name Charlotte. It sounds...classy.
-
Actually, I've disliked your name for a long time, but kept it in until now. Quite frankly, it offends me.
Dude, I know you're just kidding, but I bet you didn't even know my name until now. That's like, the first or second time I've revealed it on the site.
-
I don't know. I wouldn't name my kid PaperLuigi or Super Phoenix if you paid me.
-
I've always liked the name Charlotte. It sounds...classy.
I think so too, but it reminds me too much of the book Charlotte's Web. I never saw it's movie sequel or the live action movie but I assume both of them sucked.
-
^ Goth comes to mind, actually.
-
I never knew there was a Jessica in Shakespeare stuff. Oh wow. BTW, that last bit was LADEN with sarcasm. LADEN.
-
Chuck Quizmo Welch
-
Any name that ends in -zmo sounds cool, like Ozmo or Mezmo, or something along those lines.
-
Ozmo Osbourne.
-
I think if I ever had a girl, I'd name her (or, rather, try to name her) Rosaline, or Rosalind, but I'd just call her Rose. All of those sound like good names to me. And to think I got the sudden brain spawning from seeing a street named Rosalind! :D
-
I like the name Oliver. And June.
(I oldish, short names. I hate junk like Xavier and Skyler and so on. Or weird misspellings of perfectly good names. [Ashley, Ashlee, and Ashleigh??? Come on!] No offense to anyone named any of those things, but ick.)
-
"Xavier" is an oldish short name judging by your criteria for "Oliver".
Also, you misspelled Schuyler. And how is Ashleigh a weird misspelling? I'm pretty sure it's old also.
-
This is fun.
If it was a girl; Veronica, Claudia, and Zelda would be a nice name... What? Robin Williams did it.
I'd really love Veronica but my last name has 2 syllables and they sound bad together.
Boy; Claudio or Mario, which I don't see why people think it's so bad to name a kid that. It's a real name.
Still, I don't want kids, I just like naming them.
-
I don't think you can misspell a name. That just makes it a new name.
Yeah, I knew a dude named Mario. Last I heard, he was training to become a doctor.
-
I guess I meant to say I don't like anything weird. I just like classic things. And I'm sure someones going to argue that the names I said I like ARENT classic, and the ones I said I didn't like are, and so on. But whatever.
I didn't mean to offend anyone, sorry.
-
Chuck, Oliver and June... hope they get along well! :D
I have never been told this directly or met the guy, but by overhearing conversations and connecting dots, a guy named Xavier goes to my school and is nicknamed XBox. Better call Pac-Man, 'cause I'm, like, "..................................."
-
I knew a guy named Xavier for a couple of months until I never saw him again. I called him The Professor. I thought he was cool because he was a gangsta from Chicago but he always supported the DS back when PSP peer pressure was high for gangstas.
-
....gangstas?
-
Yeah, when gangstas come to buy video games, they're usually looking for PSP stuff.
-
Actually, I'd think that gangstas prefered the DS, since it's easily concealed. Gangsters prefer the PSP since it goes well with their Tommy guns.
-
Uh, nope, not really.
-
my son is going to be named FUZZY. No doubts about it.
My second son is going to be named Diza if it's a girl and Deezer if its a boy.
-
Why not Deezizzle?
-
I JUST GOT THE BEST IDEA EVER. If I have a daughter, I'll name her Luvbi. XD
-
Nice topic!
Hmmm, I think that I would name my son Ahmed or Shadi.
I would name my little girl Anisah, Layla, Rabiah, or Yasmin.
-
If I have a daughter, I'll name her Luvbi. XD
Good thing Luvbi isn't too well known.
-
The game has only been out for a couple months.
-
I honestly think naming a child "Luvbi" would be worse than "Link." Of course, this is females we're talking about, so I'll settle for "Zelda" in this case. The problem is that "Luvbi" has far too many possible ways for kids to poke fun at it, even without knowing the video game origin.
-
I plan to have three kids so I can name them Fyer, The, and Friar.
-
If I had a son I would name him , King or Darien(...or Robert...),
if I had a girl, Llilu (...or Roberta...)
(___)--> means I'm mumbling
-
You aren't naming our possible future daughter after me. I always thought Cleopatra would be cool, and we could call her Cleo. :)
-
TC, you're supposed to let the lady choose. :)
-
Not really. My dad named my sister
-
I want my wife to choose. I'm no good at names. :P
-
Me niether, check out my username!
-
I was gonna name them Mario and Luigi if I had kids but I'm not Italian so...
-
If I marry a guy with some Italian in his family background, I MIGHT suggest naming our boy Luigi.
My first name is Italian, but I don't have a single drop of Italian blood running through my veins that I know of.
-

<<; It was a joke.
-
Well, I want to name my kids, wait for it... Grindel and Hans. By the way, I am not German.
-
I sorta am, and I like those names, though...Hans, sorry bad third twice removed cousin memories... ::)
Oh, and Kojinka, I know someone who would agree with you wholeheartedly. :)
Also, Paper luigi, I like your thinking already. ;)
Oh and Chef...no offense but don't get a big head, I wanted to nem a daughter Roberta because I the woman I was named for, her english name translated into Roberta, so... :P
-
Thats actually a pretty freaky coincidence that the guy you ended up with (me) has the same [male version of the] English name of the person you were named for. Yet another sign that we were meant to be together. :3
You know, if I did have a son, I'd probably be pressured into naming him Micheal or Francis.
-
Chef, that is so cute!:) I had a cat named Francis once. Oh, and Amy, you're so nice. You're like a welcoming fruit basket!:)
-
The most clever normal name I thought up for anything is Milo. Here's why it's clever. One day I randomly switched the 'i' and the 'r' around in 'Mario', resulting 'Mairo'. Because the Japanese alphabet uses 'R' in place of 'L', I guessed that Mairo could be the Romaji spelling of Milo. On a side note, I've always thought that if Mario was turned into a dog, he'd be a beagle. That is how my beagle on Nintendogs got his name. He even has the red hat. ^_^
-
You'd have to ba asking for a sad, picked-on kid to name them after a video game character... I've realized Clark could be associated with Clark Kent, but... so? He'd be a super kid. If I were nicknamed Superman, I'd enjoy it. I've been nicknamed a lot, especially this last year... Dr Pepper, because I love the stuff and had a shirt with the logo on it (where is it now...?) I'm mostly fine with that. Mustache, because... I have a light mustache. Don't really like that one so much. Fluffy, 'cause of my hair. Only one person calls me that, and he's actually my friend so I don't care. Once someone called me "Nintendo" and I just had to laugh...
-
Here are some of the nicknames I've gotten in a forum game at Legendary Lilypad's forums.
KO KO
Pachinko
Nintendo Girl
Ko ko Mario
Kojin pebbals
Party like a Mario boy/Party like a Toadstool Princess
It's a me, Kojinka
A lot of those are because my avatar and sig at that forum have Mario and Princess Peach.
-
My sister was (is?) nicknamed "poopie" (and other variations, such as spooky and pukey) by my dad a few years ago.
-
I was called pretty much nothing but Fly all four years of high school.
-
"So we got married and we bought us a house and had two beautiful children, Nathaniel and Superfly."
I could see naming a kid Nathan, since that's the name of one of my best friends, whom I jam with often. He's a piano player, and I play the drums.
-
After listening to a song titled "Lola" on the radio, I know that Lola would not be a suitable name for a possible daughter.
The premise of the song is that a guy falls in love with a girl named Lola, only to find out Lola's a dude. XP
-
Man I hate when that happens.
Seriously, I do.
-
Hey, I know that song!

I kind of figured that out. What a weird song.
-
I have a cousin named Lola and I am 100% sure she is a woman.
The only reason I would not name someone Lola is because it has "lol" in it.
-
100% eh?
<_<

By the way skater-girl, thank you! and Superfly...What an interesting name! It is definitely creative.
-
Isn't Superfly the name of an 80's pro wrestler?
-
Jimmy Snuka.
-
Superfly Johnson.
Guess the reference and win a stuffed bear.
-
Daikatana. Now give me my teddy!
I pesonally would like to name my 4 girls Marigold, Rose, Tulip, and Petunia.
-
If you had three you could name them April, May, and June. :P
-
No Daisy? XD
-
My Ixi (neopet) plush is named Daisy
And I have a frost dragon plush named Saphira (Eragon's dragon)

I hade four and a pet pet. But all I can remember is that my christmas Lupe was named Aries and my peophin, Jenny, my pet-pet was a snake named Ricky who belonged to my Gelert Lucy. I also had a Zafara named Magican. Though I have no idea how I remembered that since I haven't been on Neopets for three or more years.... :P.
Actually I met girls with the names, Marigold, Rose, and Petunia and two girls with the names April and May. But May's brother's name is June.... :P
I think if I have twins, I'll name them, Brooklyn and Breezy.
-
For a boy, Kass. Because it sounds cool, and for anyone who plays Neopets, he's Darigan's (Who is awesome) general.
For a girl, Hanah. And I'd change my last name to Kayak, so it can be Hanah Kayak. Then it would be a palindrome.
-
I would have 3 boys and one girl
boys:Mario
Luigi
King Koopah
girl:Princess Toadstool

Any kid named "King Koopa" would be laughed all around the schoolyard. Koopa isn't even a real name.
I hope you were only joking :|
-
"Hanah Kayak" is not a palindrome. The two individual names are, though.
-
Well, that's what I mean. Hanah Kayak spelled backwards is Kayak Hanah. But Hanah spelled backwards is Hanah, and Kayak spelled backwards is Kayak.

Are you serious about that? Your kids will be mocked by every other kid in the school.
-
We've mentioned that many times before, too.
-
He probably doesn't know since he's new.
-
I think I might name my girl Amour. It's French for love. I think it sounds very pretty :D
-
Do you think in France they name their kids things like Love, Courage, or maybe Plastic? I've always found it strange that America is obsessed with foreign languages. I don't think that in Japan they put letters of the English alphabet as emblems on car windows... "This 'A!' Represent 'AAAAAAAAA!'"
-
I love it when people think they're getting tattoos in Japanese that say "Power" or "Courage", but they really get "Grapefruit" or "Fartbag".
-
I saw a guy at a cell phone network store with a Triforce tattoo on the back of his right hand last week. Funnier yet, I was wearing one of my LoZ shirts!
-
Uh.... where did the original discussion go? 0_o

Please tell me you weren't being serious there.

Japan loves English. They think it looks cool so they do their best to plaster it everywhere even though they don't know how to properly formulate English sentences!
-
Ahhh, Engrish. Gotta love it. But what exactly does it have to do with naming kids?
-
Look at the last page, concerning the strange obsession of America of foreign language look at my comment.
-
Yes, but do the Japanese usually name their children with the English language? :)
-
Perhaps it is not, but as for Chup those English and the stand established the fact that the fact that it stops dying is liked.
-
No offense but not only did the subject die, I have no idea what Bird Person just wrote.
But otherwise, you all made valid arguments, what an interesting revelation. ;D
-
I when the Japanese the English way it seems that many Americans think Japanese am cool in the same way, it presumes. Or perhaps that is fair actual my opinion.
-
Calling you obtain, I doubt that. Japan the fact that the majority perhaps concerning America is liked those is that we who are thrown buy everything with us.
Compile: Your those because of the darkness, although Japanese and the back section are translated for the second time from English, have used MaxVance and I the translator. It is long, the result where the sentence where the number of words is many is best is obtained.
-
For the second time, that is fair actual my opinion. Does that do the ironic house in me?
Compile: The sentence of many words works well somewhere, it can see. Exactly glance of my signature.
-
I have confusion.
-
I'm going to name my kids Paul and Suzy, after my dad and mom. Easy to remember, too.
-
Already it was that to us. Remember?
Paul and Susan.
-
I know. I can't think of any other names, and I believe that's what this topic is for. :P
-
Errrr… I what whose MaxVance which is said is even, “that speaking already think”, and him there is the right. Quotation of link is the evidence which does not move. Regrettable PL/OY, but you do not win the trial under any condition.
-
I have confusion.
I'm pretty sure they're sending their english sentences thru Japanese translation and then translating it again back to english. After...uh, the translations, the sentences look like what you're reading.
Am I close, or totally off? :P
-
My Engrish is nowhere near as good as this stuff, so I'm just gonna say it here and now, that it's derailing the thread.
