I managed to get accepted into this really nice artist job for the summer. I'm surprised I got in since space in the program is always so limited. For my interview I even made my first portfolio (I really wish I had a scanner so I could show some of the stuff I've drawn or the characters I've made).

I own a 360 too!

I'm glad that for the first time in years Cartoon Network's airing Looney Tunes again (pre and post-1948 shorts). I've known this for a while but didn't see commercials for it until yesterday. It's gonna be a 14 hour marathon starting at 6am on January 1 and they've said viewership of this marathon will determine if they'll do more with the Looney Tunes in 2009. Hopefully people with Nielson boxes watch it.

Video Game Chat / Re: Banjo Kazooie - Nuts and Bolts
« on: November 15, 2008, 04:49:26 AM »
I had a good time with the demo, the text looked fine to me, Gruntilda actually made a joke about Banjo's art design, I was slightly perturbed at how feminine Kazooie looked, and there were multiple actually funny jokes.

Haven't bought it yet, but will someday.

I've heard the text looks fine on some HDTVs, so I assume you own one. I have an SDTV, so the text is very small. I'm not very upset about it because Rare is currently working on a patch for the text that'll be released in a few weeks. In the mean time, I have other things to do.

-Surfing the net.

-Reading.

-Drawing. I made my own big cast of characters and I really enjoy doing this (especially really detailed stuff). Some of my friends say I should try to make a pitch to Cartoon Network, but I have no idea how I would go about doing that. I wish I had a scanner so I could try posting a drawing...

I missed it! Is there a link perchance?

You can see the final comic at Salon.com (as well as a very large archive of all the strips for the arc leading up to the end) and the final three panels for the final comic can be found at humanesociety.org/opus. I suggest you just go to Salon first the see the beginning of the final strip and then go to humane society to see the very end of it.

Oh, yeah, I read that book in my third grade classroom (if you're referring to what I think).

Well, I was referring to Goodnight Moon, but more specifically, how the comic strip Opus ended with the eponymous penguin asleep in a bed inside of the book. After 28 years, I like how Berk ended the strip on such a lighthearted note.

Even though I don't recall ever reading the book Goodnight Moon, I really enjoyed Opus's final comic.

NOOOOOO

Fox just announced that they are CANCELING KING OF THE HILL. Blasphemy! Why would they do such a thing to one of the best animated shows ever? I'm just completely upset right now. But they also said that they would give it another season, so it's until 2010... I just wonder, what show is going to replace King of The Hill?

It has had 13 seasons....You should be happy that a show that hasn't even managed to get DVD releases after it's 6th season lasted this long. I guess The Cleveland Show will replace it...

Got Wii Music today, and it's pretty cool.

I love the commercial for it, I might pick it up myself soon.

I know I'm pretty late (because I just didn't hear about it until yesterday) but I'm really glad there's going to be a limited edition version of Animal Crossing: City Folk with the WiiSpeak accessory bundled in. I'm also excited about the WiiSpeak Channel.

You don't have any friends that own the game? Sorry to hear that, but the multiplayer here isn't that great. You're not missing much.

It's fun and all, but to be honest I've had more fun with the multiplayer in Super Mario 64 DS.

Last I checked, Seth has only written three episodes of Family Guy (counting the season 7 premiere episode that'll air this fall).

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Party 9?
« on: August 10, 2008, 11:17:18 PM »
They SHOULD make a Mario Party9! Infact, They should atleast go up to a Mario Party15!........ I'd like that.

In Mario Party 9, I hope they don't go and go and put wild characters like Petey Piranha, Goomba, Koopa, Chain Chomp, and that huge block. Those kind of characters!  (Don't put)
They should put Diddy Kong in the family. They should even add Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby DK, Baby Wario, and they should make new Princesses. Or even characters like how Wario and Mario and Waluigi and Luigi are. Opposites of Daisy and Peach. I so wish they'd do that.

MARIO PARTY 9 !!!!

It's really hard to tell if some of these posts are jokes or not.

No, it's just that Chowder, Flapjack and George of the Jungle are not funny.

Actually, the case here is just you complaining about how you dislike those shows. Look, I like those shows and I find them very funny, but I also have a love for older cartoons like the aforementioned Animaniacs. Comparing shows like Flapjack to Animaniacs really isn't fair at all. I'm not trying to say it's wrong of you to have such a preference for shows from the 90's or anything. In fact, it's good you liked those shows, it was the Silver Age of animation after all. But that time has passed and just because today's shows aren't your cup of tea doesn't mean it's bad, it just means you dislike the show. I think Chowder's great, and I'd say Cartoon Network does too, since they had the creator add 5 extra episodes to the show's first season, and they're giving the show a second season.
To be honest though, I'm really surprised you don't like Chowder much, since it was made by C.H. Greenblatt, and he made some of my favorite Spongebob Squarepants and Billy & Mandy episodes. Oh well, I guess this is a case of different strokes for different folks (in which case I suppose we could agree to disagree), since I noticed you referred to Back at the Barnyard as a clever show, and I just detest it.

Agree with everything here, other than the love for GOTJ, which I find quite bland.

Well, I wouldn't say I have a love for the show. I was more or less trying to say that it's not as terrible as people make it out to be. I can easily sit through a few episodes of it, but it is not something I'd buy on DVD or anything.

or the once-funny turned autistically-unfunny Fosters.

Ouch. =P
If it makes you feel better, Foster's is ending next year. The final episode's title is "Goodbye to Bloo".

Maybe Chowder's funny, maybe it isn't. The bizarre art direction, intermittent food-based stop-motion segments, and living fart cloud makes me flip over to Spongebob without fail.

Sometimes I feel that some people are just too blinded by their nostalgia to realize how average the shows they enjoyed really were (not taking a shot at you specifically, it's just that messages such as those are often used to bring down more recent cartoons).
I really like Chowder, Flapjack, and George of the Jungle (though I admit Chowder's pet Kimchi was a pretty cheap idea, but he's seldom used).

I like how George isn't as idiotic as he was in the original cartoon, but the plain character designs (specifically Ape's) bothered me at first since I'm a cartoonist myself and the idea of watching something so unappealing upset me, so I looked at the show in a negative light whenever I watched it. But, watching it now, without thinking about the character designs and having more of an open mind, I can say that I enjoy it. It isn't the best show in the world, but it's made me laugh. It is not as terrible as people are making it out to be (in fact, it isn't terrible at all).
