You were using the url for the Imgur page for that picture; you gotta use the url for the picture itself, which usually ends in .png or .jpg or whatever

For comparison, here's McCain vs. Obama in 2008 and Romney vs. Obama in 2012

After her performance there, I'm definitely more okay with Hillary doing eight of these than I thought I would be.

Trump's Michelle-Melania joke was really good, and the little "it's not her fault! boy am i in trouble!" bit afterward is probably the most human he's seemed all year. His delivery was pretty lousy overall, though; he's not very good at reading. And it definitely got pretty uncomfortable around the halfway point where it went from "slightly edgy political roast" to "Breitbart comment section" and even starting to border on "personal manifesto written by Charlie Sheen" and he started getting booed by a room full of Republican priests.

(Interesting sidenote: this thing has happened pretty much every election for the past few decades, but Bush and Kerry were not invited to the 2004 dinner because the foundation felt that election was too divisive (or it might've been because Kerry was a pro-choice Catholic))

Definitely interesting how Trump seemed to take this one so much better than he took Obama's jokes in 2012. Is it because he knew it was going to be a roast going into it? because he's still technically Hillary's equal? because he got to go first? did his handlers tell him to look happy (doubt it; they clearly don't have that much control over him at this point)? because Hillary's white?

I'm on my phone and I probably should have previewed my post to check how big that picture was, but eh, this thread could use a super hi-res picture.

Much like the Wii Motion Plus made the Wii Remote able to do what most people thought it was always supposed to do, the Switch is what people think the Wii U is once they stop thinking it's a Wii peripheral.

I feel like this image conveys what the Switch is really well -- you can play this big full console game on your TV, and also turn it into a tablet and play it anywhere. Maybe people will get confused and think they snap onto a tablet you already have?

It's really good that it's not a Wii or a DS. Those sold really well last decade, but their naming schemes have gotten way too convoluted for the average consumer (New Nintendo 3DS XL in New Galaxy Purple, or the New Nintendo 3DS (they never came up with a name for the smaller one) or the 2DS which is mostly the same thing, but the Wii U is a completely different thing than the Wii but it uses Wii controllers (I'm betting the Switch will still have Wiimote compatibility because why not if they've got Bluetooth anyway, but they're not going to advertise it)). Also, having a one-syllable console name (and one that's a common word) means you're going to hear "Nintendo Switch" more than you hear "Sony Playstation 4 Pro Slim" or "Microsoft Xbox One S" or "Nintendo Gamecube." With other consoles, using the full formal name makes you sound like a PR guy, but "Nintendo Switch" feels pretty natural to say. That's good for brand recognition.

Also I love that they're called "joy-cons."

Mario Chat / Miyamoto has wanted unnecessary voice clips all along

Pauline was originally going to say "Nice!" every time you jumped over a barrel, but it was taken out because the pronunciation was weird.

[x]

The "help help!" at the start of the level was added in Donkey Kong 94 when it was played on a Super Game Boy, but the "nice!" has sadly never been in.

Most of those are in my backlog too, actually. Warioland 4's really good, though; you're gonna love it.

...I kinda want it. It looks like it's pretty good at being what it's trying to be.

Mario Chat / 1996 Super Mario 64 interview

http://shmuplations.com/mario64/

Some highlights:
  • Mario is from Brooklyn
  • Miyamoto and Tezuka regret not adding more animal abuse
  • Luigi was removed rather late in development
  • The "trip" move (crouch -> B) is useless
  • Miyamoto expounds a bit on Mario and Zelda actually being the same series

I've ordered myself a second one of these:

One of these just popped up on Amazon for $30 in Used Very Good condition while I was in the bathroom, and I bought it. Hope it works, because it was the only listing, and I can't find it or any other actual six-face-button dual analog controller anywhere else online other than a pre-S-Type original Xbox controller (the S put the black and white buttons in a weird place that would defeat the purpose of using it for N64 and Sega emulation).

(I thought I found one for $10 that looked just like a tiny little Dualshock with 6 face buttons, but the sticks are actually just duplicates of the D-pad and first four face buttons, and there's no Start and Select buttons, so effectively it's just the pre-analog PS1 controller. No one makes controllers like this anywhere as far as I can tell, which is weird because the fact that someone made that $10 one that tricks you into thinking it's one definitely shows there's a demand for it.)

Color Splash opens with Mario getting a letter that's actually a folded-up paint-drained Toad, which motivates him to go check out the island. Maybe Mario still gets requests for help from non-Toad species but he's gotten xenophobic in his old age.

Wahoo! Make the Mushroom Kingdom great again! Build a wall and make Queen Bean pay for it!
