It appears that the battle for the "King of Kong" continues to rage: Billy Mitchell now holds the high score for both arcade Kongs.  On August 7, 2010 at Boomers-Grand Prix Arcade in Florida, Mitchell set record scores of 1,062,800 on Donkey Kong and 1,270,900 on Donkey Kong Junior.  How long before Steve Wiebe attempts to retake the crown is anyone's guess.

Note: it wasn't Wiebe's record he broke here. Hank Chien was the record-holder.

True.

I'm still waiting for Wiebe to attempt to regain the crown, regardless.

Why, Billy Mitchell? Why do you do it? Why keep playing? Do you believe you're playing for something? For more than your hatred of losing? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it fame? Or wealth? Perhaps power? Yes? No? Could it be for entertainment? Illusions, Billy Mitchell. Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as Donkey Kong itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as entertainment.

You must be able to see it, Billy Mitchell. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep playing. Why, Billy Mitchell? Why? Why do you persist?

That was a joke.

Repeatedly - but that's not what I'm referring to here.

Steve Wiebe has just regained the world's high score with 1,064,500. The King is dead! Long live the King!

Steve's tenacity can't be matched. This is awesome.
