Title: YKYOWNW...
Post by: Robert on August 07, 2006, 09:04:30 AM
This topic's title stands for "you know you're obsessed with nintendo when..." and we post just that. For those who haven't played this type of "game", you basically just post ways you know you're obsessed with nintendo. Like these ones:

You know your obsessed with nintendo when...
- You accually bought the virtual boy.
- You plan on buying a PS3 for the sole purpose of smashing it and saying "Nintendo rocks. Boo Sony!"
- When You under-go plastic sugery to make your nose look more like Mario's.
- When you travel for hours on a plane to Japan and find the location of Mr.Iwata's house, just so you can ask him to sign your DS.

Now you can try.

Ok, I'll give it a try....It might be good.

YKYOWNW:

-You wear blue overalls with a red shirt and a cap to work/school.
-You think eating mushrooms is pasta makes you super.
-You start acting like the T.V remote is the Wiimote.
-You can name any game, reference, or character made by Nintendo.

....I told you they weren't very good.

-You make a thread like this.
-You post in a thread like this.
-You like to dress in overalls, neckties, tunics and heavy armor.
-You actually own the crappy CD-i Zelda games.
-You created your own high-quality Nintendo fan-game.
-You wish Captain N would be remade, only this time more faithful to the games.
-You're 9-volt from WarioWare Inc.

I know a guy who I'm pretty sure was a Nintendo addict. He was in my TV production class (where I gave school announcements while other guys did a lot of tech work) and he'd usually run the sound board.

Anyway, this guy had a shirt with Mario, a plus sign, a mushroom, an equals sign, and a larger Mario. Also had a few Mario hoodies and a red tee shirt with a Nintendo logo on it. This same guy was in my German class freshman year and used to play his Game Boy during lectures.

The best part about this obsessed dude? The auto tech teacher at my school sort of looked like Mario. He'd start singing the Mario theme song whenever the guy would walk past.

The other obsessed guy I know is a fellow who goes to my church. He plays the trombone and is always playing the Mario song on it when he is practicing for the wind ensemble that plays at services now and then.

If these two guys aren't Nintendo addicts, I'd be very surprised.

The Mario song is actaully pretty well known and those shirts have now become widespread thanks to Hot Topic. Those don't really qualify as 'addicts'. Just 'fans'.

One of the most popular people at my school once watched an online video that contained someone playing the Mario theme on piano. I asked if it was someone wearing clothing similar to Mario's (Lizard Dude) but he didn't know. Now, he regularly hums the theme during History. Weird.

The song is really catchy, I must admit. I found myself playing it on the piano by ear.

My school used to play it on videos too. I was the dude who gave the school announcements but there would always be an intro video. Sometimes it would be highlights from a football game, basketball game, or even the marching band. Sometimes it was student or teacher spotlight (I usually did this stuff). And now and then it would be some tech savvy video done by one of the computer type people. There was one that had the Mario song as well as a few clips from one of the games in the background. The video was done really nicely and the entire school wound up getting the song stuck in their head.

Later we found out a guy named Mr. Bungle recorded a jazz remix of it. This got played in the background of the announcements a few times. I think everyone in the school capable of playing a piano could have pounded out at least the opening to it by the end of the year. One of my best buddies is a huge Mr. Bungle fan--I didn't even know who he was untli last January!

Did not know those shirts were that popular. But then again, I have never been to a Hot Topic. I pretty much only have one clothing store I frequent a lot (judging by my online name you should be able to figure out where I like to shop).

It was probably the Video Game Pianist (http://www.videogamepianist.com/).

That's fine.  Thanks.  I won it on eBay anyway.  I think I only need Pokemon Emerald and Nintendogs Best Friends now, but won't know for sure until all the games from eBay arrive and I can verify that they have unused codes.

^Um... LD, I can't see the image.^

Anyway, you know you're obsessed with Nintendo when...

-You stole a wii, it's sensor bar, a wii-mote and some games from E3 to play at home.
-You practice your jumps everyday in hopes you may one day be able to jump as high as Mario
-You create a fully functional, scale F-Zero racer.
-You are arrested for carrying an arm cannon. In your defense, you say you wanted to be like your hero, Samus.

I saw a guy at a fast food place with a Mario tattoo on his arm. I think that counts as obsessed.

Well, as long as it wasn't a temporary tatoo, I guess you could call that fairly obsessed.

Here's two more:
-At dinner, you say "Oh boy! I'm so hungry, I could eat an octarock!"
-You attemp to ride Rhinos, yelling " Ye haw! Forward, Rambi!"

It looked pretty permanent to me. He was an employee, too, so I doubt he would wear a temporary one (I don't think I've seen anyone wear those since middle school).

Perhaps, one reason I can think of is you know more about the history of Nintendo and important figures in the company then you do about your own family? :/
