We all know that the only thing more dangerous than zombies is a dinosaur (I think the deadliness exchange rate is 4 zombies for one raptor, if I'm not mistaken). So my question is this: Why aren't there more dinosaurs in games these days? With the exception of the upcoming Turok (which I'm still skeptical about thanks to its generic dark-futuristic look and new main character), there are no modern games of note that feature dinosaurs. What we need is a new Primal Rage, or maybe, like, Dead Rising, but with dinoaurs. There should at least be Virtual Console versions of Primal Rage and the old Turoks.

I think the problem is it's hard to make dinosaurs new and exciting. It's been done overmuch. I think if there was a new dinosaur game out, it would have to be a story completely different than "People go back in time. Aaah! Dinosaurs!" or "Dinosaurs go forward in time/are dug up and reanimated. Aaah! Dinosaurs!". And I don't know if there's any other way to justify dinosaurs.

(Not saying they aren't cool. Because, you know. Giant scary lizards = yes. But what can you do with them that hasn't already been done?)

"Hooray! I'm useful! I'm having a wonderful time!"

Borrow some of the dinosaur evolution concepts from the cheesy Mario movie, and you might get an interesting game.

You live in a world where people evolved from the dinosaurs, but some evil guy is de-evolving them for his evil plans.  You must stop this madman from taking over the world.  One power-up lets your character's body (but not the brain) transform into the mighty tyrannosaurus rex.  If this idea is stupid, I'm sorry I ever mentioned it.

Hey, I think the Quick Reply box got wider!  No?  Oh...

When you actually think about it, dinosaurs are fundamentally interesting.  It's too bad the concept has evolved into a specific image--a particular feeling that invokes fair maidens being eaten alive, and... I think that's about it, actually.  That's all dinosaurs do these days--eat fair maidens.

Or sing fairy tales.

Wow, Glorb fails to realize that there are dino's in games, just as TC said, Yoshi! Besides, why would we need a 3-D YI? It sounds like an awful idea in my opinion. Just imagine, trying to swallow an enemy in 3-D would be tough, even harder to hit one with an egg.

Yes, and the idea sparked my mind when I first got control of Yoshi in SM64DS. Keep in mind, it'd be perfect for the Wii, since you could use the remote to aim Yoshi's tounge or egg shots.

Y'know, I honestly wondered when Barney and, by extension, Sesame street would be brought up.

I think the reason I just had a sudden dinosaur obsession is because I found my old copy of Primal rage a couple of days ago. This lead to me watching both Jurassic Park movies (yes, I said both) and reading both novels, as well as reading various books about dinosaurs and so on. And Yoshi doesn't count. I mean, he wouldn't last two minutes with a T-Rex, or even a Dynonychus.

Way back in the day (I'd say from 5th grade to maybe 9th), I was pretty much the authority on dinosaurs. If anyone had a question on dinosaurs, they'd come to me. Even teachers. Heck, there were two cases where a teacher put me in charge of class because the lessons were on dinosaurs. I no longer read about them all the time, but I still have a few of my best books on them.

And for the record, I believe that yoshis are related to Iguanodon.

Yoshi is fine if you're talking about cuddly, harmless, herbivorous, nonoffensive Nintendo mascots. When I think dinosaurs, I think...well, anything besides Yoshi and Barney. Which leaves real dinosaurs. And besides, I've never liked Yoshi too much; to me, at least, he seems to...Pokemon-ish.

I've heard lots of disturbing stories about Barney. Like how he was shot back stage by an angry parent, or how he put chemicals into the crackers he fed the children. Creepy.

And let's not forget this:

I think my favorite appearance of 666 is as follows"

Barney (You know, the children's TV character) is a CUTE PURPLE DINOSAUR.

Now, replacing the u's with v's (like in Rome), you get

CVTE PVRPLE DINOSAVR

If you cull all letters not used in the Roman numeral system, you are left with:

CV VL DIV

Add the Arabic equivalents to these together:

100 + 5 + 5 + 50 + 500 + 1 + 5 = 666.

There you go.

That Barney/666 thing is dumb. You can take anything and make it into 666 if you have enough time to waste. For example, take GEORGE WASHINGTON. If you spell his name like GEO RGE WAS HI and take away the NGTON, and then turn each of the fragments into the number of letters in each fragment, then you get 3 3 3 2. And 333 x 2 is 666! Holy crap!

Disney also supports making tons of unnecessary sequels. I mean, c'mon. Cinderella 3? We didn't even need 2. They're just as bad as whoever the heck is in charge of Land Before Time (which, like I said earliar in this topic, ruined the image that dinosaurs had).

The first Land Before Time was one of my favorite movies as a kid.  The first few sequels were okay, since the first movie did kinda lead to some adventures in the Great Valley, but after so many sequels, things just got ridiculous, like Chicky said.  But, I like Chompy, and I did want to know more about the Great Valley.

Heh. I remember a time when I thought sequels were one of the absolute best things ever.  Boy, was I a fool.  I'm not necessarily saying sequels are bad (Heck I LOVE Shrek 2, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door [and SPM if that counts].  I haven't seen Shrek the 3rd or PotC: At World's End yet. :( )
