Author Topic: The Top 5 All Time Best Nintendo Game Awards  (Read 16056 times)

« on: June 29, 2004, 05:07:11 PM »
That's right! Another Fungi Forums Award show. Whether that's a good or bad thing, you decide. Anyway, there are five categories: Best NES game, Best SNES game, Best N64 game, Best GCN game, and Best Nintendo Portable game. Here's the rules:
a)Nominations start now, and end July 5. You may nominate two games for each category. They do not have to feature Mario in them.
b)Voting begins July 6, one week from now. It ends July 12. I will post all the nominations for each category, and you will be able to vote afterwards.
c)You may vote for one game per category. Obviously, you're allowed to vote for the game you nominated. Vote on your own posts.
d)All nominations and votes are final. You may not change them after the deadline for nominations/votes.
e)July 13 is when the winners will be declared for each category. But the voting goes on! Those are the nominees for all-time best Nintendo game. Voting starts after the winners for Top 5 have been declared, and ends July 19.
f)On July 20, the all-time best Nintendo game will be declared! That means that all people who don't already own that game, should go out and buy it. Right away.
Okay, start your nominations! Remember the categories: Best NES game, Best SNES game, Best N64 game, Best GCN game, and Best Nintendo Portable game!

There's no use in nominating an already existing nominee. I won't be too picky if you don't read if it's already been nominated, but if you already know, don't nominate it. And secondly, let's just keep it "Best Nintendo Portable" so that The Top 5 will not turn into The Top 6. That just wouldn't make sense.

Yes, IS, that's the game. That is one of the most fun multiplayer games I've ever played, along side Goldeneye and Mario Kart: Double Dash.
EDIT: If anyone posts in this thread they will receive an error message instead of the message posted screen, this is because of Gamespys messed up mail thingy. So don't go back and try to post again, that will cause double posts, as you may have seen. So after you post just x-out the screen and reenter TMK.

Best Nintendo Entertainment System Game:
Super Mario Bros. 3

Best Super Nintendo Entertainment System Game:
Super Mario RPG

Best Nintendo 64 Game:
Super Mario 64

Best Gamecube Game:
Super Smash Bros. Melee

Best Nintendo Portable Game:

Oddly, all of those games involves Mario. Coincidence? Anyway, now the second chunk of the voting begins! Now, out of those five, vote for which one you think is the best out of all of them. Vote only once. Alright, let's figure out which Nintendo game is the best!

What the HECK??!? How was Metroid Prime not nominated for best GCN game??!? I guess it's my fault for missing the nominations...oh well, SSBM comes in a close second anyway.

I really do not think thank M&L:SS is the best portable game, either.  I only voted for it because it was one of the few nominated games that I have played.  I probably would have picked Golden Sun: The Lost Age or Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising if either of those had been nominated, but I don't really feel strongly about any portable games.

Actually, I SHOULD have read page 4, where you say that the voting for sub-categories is over and announce the winners.  I didn't read page 4, and I apologize for this.  But, I did read page 1, which said that voting would be held until July 12, and that winners would be announced on July 13. I got my votes in by July 12.  You just announced the winners early.  Or perhaps we are going by different time zones?  I'm on PST, and according to my watch, I got the votes in by July 12.

But whatever, this is your topic, not mine, so you get to make the rules.  Sorry about the ruckus.

I vote for Super Mario Brothers 3, hands clockwise.

Oh no.  Not again.  I have to deside between two of the best games ever.  (I liked SMRPG and Mario&Luigi SS, but they don't have as much mass appeal or replay value.)

SMB3 pros:
-2 player with Luigi
-2d platforming
-lots of cool suits

SM64 pros:
-3d adds some new gameplay
-replay levels for other stars
-fairly complex puzzles

I can think of a lot more pros that both have in common.  They are both great games, but I will vote for SMB3 since I have played it most resently with my brother in its GBA form.  I love that version with the e-buttons and e-reader levels.  I wish the series 3 and 4 cards were out.

I may change my mind when I play the DS version of SM64, but for now my vote goes to SMB3.

(I still think that Zelda 4 Swords is the best Gamecube game to date.)
