How could you not be underwhelmed by inanimate vegetables vs. moving vegetables
That was a joke.

Does the boxart of Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times remind you of anything?

I am psyched for Raiden Fighters Aces, which I didn't even know about until today. It contains the 3 Raiden Fighters games. Raiden Fighters 2 was easily the best game in my college campus arcade and I am eager to once more ponder over the mysterious DESTROYED AT A TIME! message and engage in the excitement of the interestingly-named Operation Violet Head. Even better, I still have access to my original partner for 2-player. If you like shmups where you shoot jillions of bullets at all times, this $20 collection is the way to go.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha versus King Abaddon has a really long name.

XBLA gets a casino game based around cheating.

And for Deezer this week we have Girl Time.

LD, I like shmups where beautiful patterns of jillions of bullets are flying at me and I have to weave through them. Do the Raiden Fighters games have that?

I already have Civilization IV and its expansions thanks to the Steam holiday sales, so I could spend $10 less than what they want for The Complete Edition and get the only thing in the pack I don't already have (something I was already considering doing anyway).

C.O.R.E. is a DS first-person shooter with a generic plot, a generic main character, and probably touchscreen controls - the same reasons I didn't like Moon.

Hopefully this version of Desktop Tower Defense is good - we need more games of that genre on the DS. Two (DTD and Ninjatown, which I hear is excellent) is not enough.

Nah, a few of the bosses get that way but you are dispensing the vast majority of bullets in the games.

Obviously they need to hack the game.
That was a joke.

TEM, bobman, and I have had some fun playing each other using a glitch in the Bionic Commando multiplayer demo, but I'm eager to play the single-player.

I still haven't played the first Boom Blox.

I don't know what Puchi Puchi Virus is, but the title and boxart interest me.

I'll still get Punch-Out!!, even though The Chef has spoiled the #*$% out of it for me.

Yu-Gi-Oh! games have cool names.

Majora's Mask hitting VC will hopefully inspire me to play it for the first time since release. I refused to play through the GCN Collector's Edition version due to the sound glitches.

And for Deezer this week we have I Love Beauty: Hollywood Makeover.

Majora's Mask?  Seriously?  Cool.

I always get Puchi Puchi Virus and this other DS puzzle game with a similar subject matter (can't remember the name) confused in my mind. PPV is the somewhat fun game that got delayed forever for no real reason (it's been out in Europe for ages), and the other one is absolute garbage.

I've been looking forward to Jagged Alliance on the DS for a while, and the timing is perfect - I can show it to my strategy-gaming uncle (I currently have his copy of Jagged Alliance 2) while I'm in Iowa this weekend.

Some Yu-Gi-Oh! games have cool names, anyway; I can think of a few that definitely don't.

Regardless of whether or not Dance Flick is another stupid parody movie, I'm not seeing it.

For some reason, the name of Steal Princess makes me think it's a sequel to My World, My Way in which you play as a princess who decides to go out and become a master thief to impress a dashing rogue she met at a ball. (It's not; from what I've seen and read, it's a "puzzle platformer" that looks and sounds a lot more interesting than what was for the most part a basic JRPG that tried too hard to not take itself seriously.)

[darn]ation also comes out this Friday, and if you prepurchase it on Steam, you get Second Sight for free.

Got to see Terminator. And... that's it, really. I haven't bought a new game since... World Tour, I think? (by new, I mean "oh, look, it finally came out, I'll go get my wallet")

Also, I wasn't aware the sound glitches in Majora's Mask were that [darn]ing. Heck, I never really even noticed 'em.

Also also, it's kind of sad to see the long-awaited next iteration in Bionic Commando come out for pretty much everything but the newest console by the company the original was on (and the Wii Remote would work great with the guy's arm, to boot).

I never noticed sound glitches. Just the freeze glitches (maybe they are the same thing).
That was a joke.

Honestly, when something weird did happen, I just took it as being typical N64-glitchiness (yes, even though it's on the GCN).

The only thing I noticed in Majora's Mask on the CE was that the music would falter for maybe half a second when different areas would load.

I got Bionic Commando. At first I was going FFFFFFF because the game has secret collectibles you can find but if you stray 4 feet into an okay looking area away from the main path you die in 3 seconds from radiation that's not detectable until it is (usually) too late to go back. This choke hold on exploration while having items being found solely because of exploration really ground my gears, being a lover of finding unnecessary tidbits in otherwise straight forward actions games. The combination of invisible radiation and death water (that kills your camera view long before killing you) in some levels almost made me stop playing. After I got past those levels and more game mechanics were remembered by the main character the game got a little more fun. After a few boss battles I decided that the game was pretty rad and hopefully it keeps moving in that direction.

The character design and "development" is pretty crusty and reminds me a lot of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. This includes scenes of dramatic moments between characters and in game dialogue between the main character and his superiors that is obvious and spoon-fed exposition given to the player like a bad movie. The main villains have a generic uninspired look to them that almost advertises their lack of character depth. The main character has dreadlocks and is overly aggressive. The only thing that I like about any of the characters is the smack talk that goes on between the main character and the ground troops. They don't have any back and forth banter but when the occasional line is audible in between gun fire it is sometimes smile-worthy.

After getting used to the game and getting a better taste of what it has to offer game play-wise I'd say the only real problem with the game is its crappy characters and  plot line and the absurd stage restrictions (in light of the collectibles). However this is easy to ignore and the game is still fun. Zip-kicking a soldier repeatedly until he's dead or punching a car into a enemy mech's face is very fun. Multiplayer matches are great fun as well (I can't wait to fight bobman37 and LD on a stage other than the nighttime demo stage).

I give Bionic Commando three and a half cyborg arms out of five. Worth playing but skippable if you really want to spend your money elsewhere.

A pretty boring week IMO.

How is there not a snack food called Munchables? Seriously, Kraft, get on that. (There seems to have been a really obscure use of the name in 1999 but it doesn't exist anymore.)

And for Deezer this week we have Imagine: Makeup Artist.
