EDIT: He's gone. Dad had him put down earlier this evening. Sort of glad I wasn't there.

He was 11. Pretty young, but Yorkies only live to 13 or 14 on average.

Awww. I'm so sorry Weegee!

My family pet was a Yorkie too, so.. I understand your pain, a little. Perhaps..

Aw, [darn] it, Weegee...

I'm kind of conflicted as to whether or not I want to be an adult. I would finally be done with stupid teenager dilemmas and relationship problems, but then I'd have to deal with real adult problems, like constantly struggling to pay the bills. I just wish the soundtrack to Castlevania 3 would be enough to carry me through troubles.

I don't have a pet passing (again), but my father had a stroke, my mother-in-law has paranoid schizophrenia, and we just lost a week's worth of pay after already being in the hole.  Those are what I have angst about though... I'm not sure if angst is even the right word.

I fear that the news is getting even less depth.  Now Fox News will just be surfing the net for news?  I can do that on my own.  I want a news organization that goes deep, does research, and makes connections that wouldn't be noticed by social media.

Don't count on Fox News to do any of that. They've never done any of that.

I would maybe argue for "connections that wouldn't be noticed by social media".

Why do some many people and websites use the word hipster like it's a new thing?  I remember hearing the word from one of my high school teachers (way back in the 80's) discussing other terms like beatniks.  Maybe it was a different generation... 30's or 40's... I don't recall), but it was far from recent.  The first time I recall hearing the term in a non-school popular medium was on an album (I forget if I had the tape or CD) by Dada.  I think that was in the early 90's, but the exact date or even decade isn't the point...  Hipsters and the antithesis; the unhip, existed long before this decade.

I think it's the application of it that's shifted it into greater relevance--that is, first as a label for people who simultaneously enjoy ear gauges, Animal Collective, and anachronistic facial hair, then as a catch-all way to mock people who like something you consider obscure (and that maybe has its logo written in faux-ballpoint pen). An apolitical evolution of calling someone a communist, it sometimes seems.
