I've always wondered what would happen if Nintendo decided to cross their Mario franchises. It started out small, with Mario Party 5. Remember who the hosts of each mode were? That's right, the Star Spirits from the first PM game. Now, we are getting Super Paper Mario, which is just SMB with paper characters, see.
So, if the trend continues, we should see..
Paper Donkey Kong (paper version of arcade DK)
Paper Mario World
Paper Mario Land
Paper Mario 64
Paper Mario Sunshine
Paper Luigi's Mansion
Paper Mario's Picross
Paper DR Mario
Paper Mario Kart
Paper Mario Party
Paper Mario Tennis
Paper Mario Golf
Paper DDR with Mario
Paper Mario Baseball
Paper Mario Soccer
Paper Mario Basketball
Paper Mario RPG (paper version of the original Mario RPG)
Paper Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
.. and if they wanted to go to extremes..
Paper Mario is Missing
Paper Mario's Time Machine
.. and no, this is not a joke topic. I made the same topic at GameFAQs (on the Super Paper Mario board, I think), and they thought it was a joke.

There's already a game called "Paper Mario RPG". It's only available in Japan. :D
-
No no no... the paper theme is way too perfect to be overused like that. Let Intelligent do as they please with it.
-
They need a Mario Paper Football game.
-
I'd play Paper Mario Kart :D
-
It would be cool if they made a game out of Luigi's tale from PM2.
But in accordance with the topic, there dosn't need to be a whole new franchise based on an already existing spin-off. It would be like making Wario Kart, Yoshi Party, or to a more exaggerated degree, MarioWare.

Actually, that is the Japanese name of TTYD.
And I strongly disagree with this idea.
-
Perhaps you don't realize what the "Paper Mario" idea is all about. You simply cannot make spin-off games with Paper Mario, because that's not what its intention was. The whole reason Paper Mario exists is to show that the game is in fact, a detailed story. Like a book. Paper Mario Kart? Give me a break.

Oh no. Never. This idea gotta go down the drain. I don't think that Paper Mario needs spin-offs. I think idea would make the series go down the drain with the other crappy video games.
-
Ok, so I went a bit nuts with the list. But I think the ideas for a Paper Mario Kart or a Paper Mario Party isn't too far off.. they've already started using Paper Mario characters in non-PM games (like the Star Spirits in MP5, or the Spike Goomba in MP7), and Luigi's adventure in PM2 said that he went go kart racing on Circuit Break Island (that may not be the right part, but anyway..)
Ok, I don't think this is really all that great a topic, but some of those did sound fun after I thought of them, after the first PM game came out. :)

Er, you don't have to cover yourself up for that, we all make mistakes.
-
...It's kind of obvious that it was a joke. See the ":D"?

From #tmk:
<MaxVance> PMD actually seems like a good game, though.
<BirdPerson> ...W?
<MaxVance> Hmm, shouldn't say it like that.
<MaxVance> PMD might be interpreted as having to do with Paper Mario.
<SolidShroom> what is PMD?
<MaxVance> Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
<SolidShroom> Polish mine detector?
<SolidShroom> ah
<BirdPerson> Oh.
<BirdPerson> I thought it was another Paper Mario game.
-

Well I don't see the joke then.
-
It wasn't a joke joke. It was more of a friendly jibe--a little non-attempt at making someone's life difficult. I guess the humor is in how life can, in fact, be made difficult by such small things--as I'm sure everyone has had such an experience.
Anyway, looking at your list, Super Paper Mario 64 would probably be the most interesting of the bunch... but I'm somewhat disappointed at the absence of Virtual Paper Mario: The ol' Big Red is practically begging for Paper!
-
I would like to see Paper Paper Mario. I wonder how it would work?
-
Perhaps a pen-and-paper RPG of Paper Mario.

Bird Person made it.
-
So Mario is able to shake the Earth by walking in place on a DS?

Hmm.. Virtual Paper Mario is one that I seem to have missed (I wasn't a big fan of the VB..)

I do agree the "Super Luigi" story from TTYD needs a "Paper RPG" game of its own. But I don't think there should be -too- many games in the Paper style.
